Xanga has been going way too slow for my tastes lately. Whenever I try to look at any of my posts, half of the images don't load, and it just goes slow in general. Oh, and I also hate the Xanga ads, and I don't feel like paying for Premium again when I can just use Blogger for free. I will miss Xanga's editor and smileys, and... that's about it.

I have to hurry up and finish this post, or else I won't get it in before February is over. I'm betting most everyone gave up that I would ever post again. I'm just keep expectations really low, so when I do post, it is a big surprise!

February 1st, Kyle and I went snowboarding with Justin. We were planning on also being with Aaron and my cousins, Marcia and Ryan, but we never actually ended up together. I guess that is what happens when you leave your cellphones in the car.

Here are Justin and I ready to start. I will refrain from posting pictures of us snowboarding, as I don't want to embarrass anyone. I'm really considerate, aren't I?

Ok, this doesn't exactly count as snowboarding, so I'll post it.

Here is a cool lizard that's meditating on the back fence. Did you ever stop to wonder what lizards think about? Maybe about the best place to shed. That's a good possibility.

A couple of weeks ago, the little Johnson kids stayed out our house for the day. It's always fun to have them around to play with.

One of the best ways to entertain Julie, is to let her look at herself in the mirror. You know, I'm not sure, but I think that might technically count as vain.

I don't know if it is just me, but Bethany looks really grown up here.

To the untrained eye, this might look like a boring picture. But if you look closely, you will notice that all of the wonderful babysitters are playing dice... making the 1 year old take care of the baby. Actually, Timmy is doing his job. Michael looks like he is about ready to die he is laughing so hard.

Kyle, Justin and I went horseback riding a couple of days before Kyle's birthday. Birthdays are a wonderful excuse for going horseback riding. Who gets which horse, and which is the best, is always quite the suspense. I think I've had a string of bad luck lately, though...

Ok, not only were their horses better than mine, but they were also taller, and they looked cooler on them. How incredibly insulting.

Last Saturday, we went to an open house at the local sheriff station. Here Michael, Bethany and Julie are riding in their triple stroller on the way there. I can't wait to see the stroller after the next baby.

We got to walk around and see a lot of the various vehicles and booths they had there.

Now this is what I call a real sheriff car.

I don't think Michael appreciated it for the exact same reasons as the others, but he certainly had a blast. He especially like the lever that moved the spotlight.

And here is the bomb squad. I guess they control this little robot from inside of the truck, pick up the bomb with it, and take it to the safety of inside of the truck. Remind me never to be the guy inside of the truck. Ok, so I don't think that is exactly how it works... they might have a couple of other minor saftey precautions.

And here we are all deciding what to do next. It started raining on us on the walk home. Of all times, it would pick then to rain. It's Murphy's law.

It was a lot of fun to see the different parts of the sheriff station that you don't usually get to see. Afterall, it isn't every day that you get to get inside of a S.W.A.T. truck and hold an M16.

If you want to see an evil tree, a giant snowman, Snow Bowl II, and some really cute pictures, you've definitely come to the right place! Okay, that was a little epic... but at least it was different.

Rachel and Rebecca digging out some gardens in the backyard. Notice how they are doing the digging... and I'm taking a picture. It technically should be the other way around... but it's not!

Along with the gardens being dug, there was also a dead tree taken out. It was lying out across the patio waiting for its fate, when lo and behold, my mom met her fate first. She tripped over the tree and fractured her arm. Ok, that sounds cliche, but it really did happen.

We then had to call in Paul Bunyan to get rid of the evil little tree. I figured you would all want to see a picture of justice being done. Makes you feel a little better, doesn't it?

We had a big storm blow in last week, which was nice. We need as much rain as we can get right now. Oh, and no, that picture wasn't taken at my house. We had a Men's Retreat this last weekend, and there was a fresh layer of snow on Friday morning. We usually have the retreat in November, but we wanted to have snow for this retreat, so we moved it to January. It snowed on Thursday night, so it was just perfect for Friday. The Lord really blessed with that.

The original snowballs were too big to pick up, so the top two got downsized.

Playing football in the snow is a whole lot different than normal. Talk about traction! Half of the plays in our playbook had a slip written in. I think I neutralized myself in the game on Saturday. I threw a long interception to Justin (which eventually led to a score), and I threw a long touchdown to Jonathan.

Here is our group on Sunday morning before we left for home. We had a great time, and there were a lot of good sessions on Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday morning. The majority of the videos were part of Vision Forum's "History of the World" DVD set, but we also had one from John MacArthur which was really good. It was a great learning time, and was fun to be with all the guys.

I didn't really get too many pictures with people in them. A lot of the pictures on here Kevin O took. It didn't really seem quite as necessary for me to take a lot of pictures, as it seemed like a lot of other people were taking pictures. I still need to aquire those pictures, though, so I can't post them.

Julianna was constantly sticking out her tongue on Sunday night. I'm guessing it is her latest pastime. She is still absolutely adorable when she does it.

I haven't posted in awhile, so I'll actually start off by posting a couple of pictures from when we went to the beach on the 17th of December. We filmed a little video of us having fun down there, which we uploaded to www.dhpfilms.com.

Here I am filming our remake of "Chariots of Fire". We didn't get past the running on the beach part...

We got a fire pit for our backyard for Christmas this year. We've had fun sitting around it and roasting hotdogs for dinner a few times so far. It's not the same as doing it at the beach or in the mountains, but it still is a lot of fun, especially with the cooler weather we've been having lately. If anyone wants to come over and roast a few hotdogs with us, you're welcome! (just bring your own hotdogs )

We had a few days off for Christmas break, so Kyle, Kevin, Stephen and I went on a little two day camping trip. There was supposed to be a big storm coming in on Thursday when we left, but it didn't actually arrive till late Friday night when we were driving home. We wanted to try somewhere new, so we headed down to some of the mountains in the San Diego area. We ended up in the Cuyamaca and Laguna Mountains in the Cleveland National Forest. It is really pretty there.

We thought there was a good chance we would get snowed on, but we didn't. The picture with the old snow will just have to do. Everyone thought we were crazy for going right when there was a ton of rain/snow predicted, but we actually wanted the elements... makes things more exciting. I bet it would have actually rained if we didn't want it to...

Here we are on a hike near our campsite on Thursday afternoon. It may not have rained or snowed, but it got chilly enough.

On Friday morning we set out to find a nice trail, but the one we chose ended up being paved the whole 0.2 miles of it. Talk about roughing it. It did lead to this lookout though, which had an absolutely stunning view.

I'm helping the trees to block the gorgeous view in this picture. I blend in pretty well... my pants match the fence, and my shirt matches the trees.

We did end up finding our nice long trail. Walk around for a bit and you are bound to stumble onto a trail which leads to a better trail, which leads to an even better trail. That theory only works when you are in a decently populated area.

I'm not actually even sure how long we did hike because I lost track of time. When it is overcast and you are just talking and hiking along, you can lose track of time very easily.

We ended up hiking Japacha Ridge at dusk and well into dark. A really heavy fog rolled in which made it even darker. Flashlights weren't an option, they were a necessity. We found a trail that said it went to "Airplane Monument". We decided to take that one, as it sounded interesting, and found the monument pictured above.

An airplane crashed there on December 7, 1922, and they cemented the engine from the plane for the monument. The story behind it is kind of interesting, and you can read about it here: http://www.sandiegohistory.org/journal/v51-3/pdf/v51-3_crash.pdf

Once we got down from our hike, we ended up back at Lake Cuyamaca for the 3rd or 4th time, and then headed home. The roads were really winding, and there was a really thick fog, but Stephen was driving so he had all the hard work.

It is really hard to describe our trips... it is easiest to say they are "camping trips", but we are way too mobile for them to be considered regular camping trips. We end up driving around and stopping in all sorts of different places, so it can be hard to tell which spot we actually "camped" at. I guess the spot we put up our tent would have to be it.

Getting back to work after a break is no fun, but I guess what makes a break so much fun, is that it is actually a break from work. If you never work, you can never take a break from working! Ok, I'm trying too hard...

I'm starting off this entry to show everyone what follows a shooting trip...

Yep, gun cleaning. My SKS is a lot of fun to disassemble (at least for now), so it isn't too big of a hassle, but it still does take some work. It is really cool seeing how all the parts work together.

We had our annual Christmas recital on the 2nd, so we dressed up as hicks and played again. I like the arrangement we had for this recital much better than the last one... the fact that I didn't mess up nearly as much didn't effect my opinion at all. On to roof decorating! It seems we decorate the same old way every year, so this year I went for a new look. Awesome, isn't it? I thought so... but no one else did. It was voted out before I could give my viewpoint on it. Unjustice.

I'm in my socks, I know... don't say it What you don't know is that they have traction unlike any shoes available today! Everyone should be wearing socks on the roof instead of shoes.

I purchased a Canon GL2 camcorder and we got to use it for the first time out in the desert. It had arrived on Tuesday and I was gone Wednesday and Thursday, so I hadn't had too much time with it yet. We are hoping to do another bigger DHP project, so we needed a nicer camera.

I guess it is time I update again. Things haven't been too active lately, or at least, I haven't had my camera when it was active.

There was some excitement last night, actually. I was sitting at my desk when I heard some noise coming from the wall. I told Kyle to listen, and then he jumped up instantly looking for his pellet gun. We haven't had any rats in the wall for quite some time because we had blocked their entry way, but I guess it got reopened somehow. Anyway, to make a long story short, I banged on the wall, the rat got disturbed and went up, Kyle pulled the trigger, the rat screamed louder than a rat getting strangled by Jonathan's snake...

tried to get back in the hole, but sadly, died in the attempt. Actually, we thought it did get back in and we were dreading the process it would take to get it out, but luckily for us, we found it didn't quite make it back to its place of refuge. *edit* - Kyle shot the rat while it was on the roof, and this picture is taken looking under the eaves on the roof where the patio room connects to the main part of the house. The rat was never in the house. I guess that wasn't clear before.

Jonathan is the in-house rat expert here (or at least he kills them all the time to feed his snake), so we figured it was his job to retrieve the poor animal.

Let me take time out real quick to apologize to my sister for putting a picture of her daugher so close to the picture of a rat. I figured her pictue was the best way to get the mental image of the rat out, though...

It is really cute how all little girls at church all want to have a turn holding Julianna.

Here's a picture I got a couple of weeks ago of the sun while the fires were burning. The smoke was pretty bad for awhile.

Actually, we had good reason to get the Legos out... we just got a handful of pratically impossible to find Legos which we all coveted when we were younger. It's too bad we didn't get them back then instead of now. At least there are still some guys around here who are in the technically right lego age.

You guessed it! A fansite for Brian. Ok, so no one actually guessed that, but fake fansites are sure a whole ton of fun to make. I made one for Justin some time ago, and now it was Brian's turn. The fictional interviews Kyle writes for them are the funniest part. I'm not going to give the link out, as my survival is at stake, but you get the general idea I think.

Maybe the last question was too hard to guess, so here's an easier one: What do you get when you have this picture all by itself?

A stomach ache! You guessed it? Ok, that one was too easy.

What do you get when you have us accompany in Sunday night church? I prefer to call it a joyful noise, but other people often seem to mislabel it.

Here I am sitting next to Justin. He is helping me write this post... or maybe I’m helping him. If he writes more than me, does it still count that he is helping me, or am I helping him? Kevin and Kyle are in my car; having more fun than me right now I’m sure. Such is life.

I’m sure you’re wondering by now what on earth I’m posting about. If you’re not, please tell me, because I hardly know myself. Anyway, we just got back from a campout, or rather, we will by the time I’ve posted this. At the moment, I’m actually in the car typing on my new laptop. It is really too much fun to have a laptop. Now I can entertain myself on a really boring car ride, by typing a really boring post!

This just in, Stephen thinks this is boring. He still insists I should have installed a fun game on here before I left. I agree with him.

We left on Thursday morning for the Thousand Trails campground, and carpooled with the Westons and Justin. We arrived a little after noon, set up our tents, and then set out for a little hike. Our hike ending up taking longer than we thought it was going to, so we ended up getting back barely before dark. Up until this point, the weather was great.

The wind started biting us in the evening as the fog rolled in. We all scrambled for hot seats, literally! The night was cold and blustering and the morning brought little respite.

After breakfast and devotions, we started out on another hike. This time we went on past an abandoned saw mill and then further up the mountain.

The sun played peek-a-boo most of the morning over the clouds and we pulled our jackets on and off with it. It never really lasted, though, and by evening, it was much colder than the night before. We heard later that it ended up in the low to mid 20’s that evening. We ended up playing games in the guys tent for most of the afternoon.

Saturday, the fog, wind and cold had finally trailed off and the sun came out again. It was much warmer and we filmed a short for DHP (www.dhpfilms.com). We filmed it pretty quick, however, so it probably wasn’t our best effort.

After lunch, we packed up our gear and rolled up the tents. Kyle, Justin and I threw the football around for a while. I wasn’t doing as good as they were, though (wait, how did that line get in there?? I think Justin wrote that).

Now, we’re on our way home again. Oh, and just a little of information for everyone... if you put a beanie on in the morning, you’ve got to wear it the rest of the day... unless you want to scare everyone with your hair. Right at this moment, our lips are chapped, our stomachs are empty, and our inspiration is gone (that is a very depressing line... Justin also wrote that one).

We all had a great time, even though it was drastically colder than we were expecting. I think we're planning on going in May next year...

On Friday we did some filming for a DHP we are currently making. Most of it takes place at night, so we've been doing some late night filming lately. Friday we filmed till about midnight, then headed on home.

On Saturday, Kyle and I headed out to Katie's house in Riverside to pick up Rachel and to visit a little bit. When we walked in the door the first thing to see was Bethany lying on a pillow in the middle of the room looking extremely cute. I just had to take a picture.

Bethany has a fascination of opening and closing the flash on my camera. I let her pop it shut once, and now whenever she sees me get my camera out, she runs over to do it again. It's cute, but it makes it a little hard to take pictures.

On Sunday, the Ouatu's had all the guys over to their house after church to go swimming. We all had a blast of course, but that almost goes without saying. We got some good pictures, but they weren't on my camera, so I don't have them right now. Maybe Kevin W will get a hold of them and post them on his blog later on. We needed to film more for our movie, so all the guys stayed all night at church. You can see Justin and me in our costumes in the picture above. We got to bed around 2:30, as we also had to get up decently early in the morning to reserve some tables at the park for our church picnic. The next morning when we got to the park we found out that some people had stayed all night reserving all of the tables. That's dedication for you. Because we had no tables for the picnic, we had to bring our own tables, chairs and barbeques. That was a little extra work, but it actually didn't take too long.

After we finished getting all the tables and chairs to the park, we played a game of softball. It was swelteringly hot out, and I don't think I've ever had so little energy in a softball game before. I think it was the heat combined with staying up really late the night (or should I say morning?) before. If you're wondering where I am in the picture, you can sorta kinda see me behind Pastor (who is pitching).

After lunch we played some volleyball. Here you can see the good team.

And here's the bad team. I wouldn't say they were bad, except when the good guys are against somebody, that somebody they are against must be bad, right? That was the logic I used anyway.

After volleyball it was time for the real good stuff. The waterfight! In a lot of our water fights we have, the game is actually to see who can get the other team the most wet. This time it was just a little too hot for that... the "losers" were definitely the real winners this time.

Almost every park day we have, we follow the same "schedule". First is softball, then lunch, a little volleyball or tennis, a water fight, and then soccer. This time was no different... but the soccer definitely was different. Someone actually brought cones for the boundaries and flags for the goals. It actually made it a lot more fun, even though my team did lose.

After soccer we played some 'Up Jenkins', and then took all the tables and chairs back to church. It was definitely hotter than most of our park days, but we all still had fun.

In fact, since it was hotter than normal, everyone was running their A/C. That is usually fine and all, except we got a blackout in our neighborhood. That made things a little interesting. When we got home from the park, we played a really long game of chinese checkers (that we never even came close to finishing). Since we had no electricity, we had to hold up a flashlight to see the game. Fun stuff. Just ealier today we had another blackout, but it was thankfully for only around 20 minutes.

On Wednesday we started up SWORD again. It was definitely rough as there were a lot of changes, but I think we'll get the hang of things. After SWORD was over, I went bowling for the first time. Not too hard, but I definitely stink at it.

The final score. Let's pretend I'm K. Actually K was Kevin O, with Aaron being B. They outclassed us. I was DE (Dead Eye of course). Hey maybe I wasn't too good but at least I broke 100.

After bowling, the Tiss family invited us over for some icecream and ping pong. I got out nice and early in the game, so got to take pictures (hey, at least I'm looking at the bright side of things).

Another action shot. Round robin is actually a lot of fun, even though it looks kinda simple.

That's all the pictures I have for right now. Some of us guys planning on staying all night on Friday at the church again to do some more filming, so I should be getting some more pictures then.

This past Wednesday to Saturday we had a great time staying at our cousin's house in San Diego. They are very hospitable and gave us a very enjoyable time. You can see more pictures on Kyle's blog, Marcia's blog, and our family website. After all those places have pictures I'm not sure I need to post them here, but I will anyway.

On Thursday we went down to Mission Bay for the evening. Here we are taking a walk (if you couldn't already tell ).

For dinner we roasted hot dogs around the fire. I thought this picture turned out pretty cool.

Catching crabs. They actually caught quite a number of them.

Here we are playing with an even bigger ball in this one. A little more challenging. Kyle looks like he just almost drowned. Actually, the only time there was really any danger of drowning was when we were fighting for the ball under the water. Just kidding of course..

On Saturday we went to the Santee Lakes and rode paddle boats. It takes a whole ton of work just to get those things going at all... speed was definitely a foreign concept.
