| Hum Your Way to Recognition Ever found yourself humming a catchy tune and try as you might, you just can't seem to remember where it's from? Well, have I have an enlightening site for you.
Where once we would have to consult our friends and hope they in turn would recognize the little ditty, now you can just point your inter-web to www.midomi.com and hum/sing/yodel your way closer to finding that very song.
Of course, you're going to need a microphone for the magic to occur.
Anyway, here's what you do, just click the giant tab that says "Click and sing or hum" and should they ask you permission, click allow and when it's ready, sing away! Even if it's just a snippet, the site is pretty good in recognizing what song you're attempting to sing.
I tried singing kan guo lai and surprisingly , I got a match. Hummed You and Me and striked another jackpot.
Other than the convenience of finally finding information about that old song you heard 18 years ago and couldn't remember the title to, having what's essentially a bunch of 1's and 0's recognize your voice and finding a match is a good way to boost your self esteem. It makes you feel like your singing is actually passable and who doesn't like that feeling?

"Clap for Alaska!" - Homer Simpson, The Simpsons Movie
Yes yes yes!!
Feast your dreary eyes on this and let your monacles shatter on the floor as you gasp. Finally, someone has decided to make a movie version of one of my personal favourite PC games of yesteryear, Max Payne.
For the uninitiated, Max Payne, the game, is a 3rd person shooter in which you use the titular character and seek revenge on those who killed your family. No, that's not a spoiler, it's the premise for the game and Mr. Payne's eventual blood-soaked murder spree.
Known for it's use of the bullet time effect made famous in The Matrix, the game was a blast to play. And the whole film noir setting seems to have made the translation to the big screen. There'll no doubt be a whole lot of runnin' & gunnin' and I just hope they don't mess up the show.
Another thing I can't wait for? Those crazy, CRAZY dream sequences from the game to be integrated somehow in the movie. I can still hear the sounds of that baby crying...
I'm not sure if anyone who reads this blog has actually played the game, save for Wing Hoh who I'm pretty sure did, though I might be wrong, but if you haven't and enjoy some really enjoyable shoot em' ups, get Max Payne 1 and 2 for your PC.

| Of Exams and Bats"Also, don't be a cow." - Homer Simpson, The Simpsons.
After waiting for what seems like months (mostly because I did wait for months), my International English Language Testing System (Or IELTS for short) exam finally starts , and ends, tomorrow. It's a bit frustrating, having to pay RM530 just to prove to others that I'm competent enough in English to study overseas. Especially since I've already taken MUET.
Still, having said that, I am slightly worried since I don't think i'm adequetly prepared, which is of course no one's fault but my own. You see, if I don't get at least a Band 6.5 , out of a possible Band 9, I can't get into IMU. Passing the exam is a prerequisite. Here's to hoping I pass!
*clinks wine glass*
On an unrelated note, I'm stoked for the new Batman movie. Just rewatched Batman Begins yesterday and knowing what I do now about the sequel, you can see that they really planned the 1st movie in a way that builds up for the 2nd movie.
I'm so hyped up. My current wallpaper is The Joker. My Xbox 360 has a "The Dark Knight" theme and my gamerpic is the bat symbol.
Quote the joker: Whyyy soo seriousss? ahaHAHAHAHahAHahah

| Que Sera Sera"Solitude never hurt anyone. Emily Dickinson lived alone, and she wrote some of the most beautiful poetry the world has ever known... then went crazy as a loon." - Lisa Simpson, The Simpsons
There is a perfectly valid reason for the lack of blog entries in the past couple of weeks. A reason which, in itself , will perfectly encapsulate the frequency, or lack thereof rather, of posts. You see, I, the author, just didn't feel like writing anything.
The why behind the question is irrelevent, just know that i'll try to increase said frequency as it will be a very welcome distraction in the coming weeks.
Now this may sound as simple as glueing two squirrels together but really, it's not, and nowhere near as fun.
Everyday, I'll have to wake up 2 hours before I fall asleep and prep myself mentally by multiplying the amount of words in The Star with the number of stars visible the previous night with nothing more than the power of mental calculation.
Every alternate day i'll also try to add 2 centimetres to my height by sheer willpower. It might sound impossible but due to my inability to read words properly , I always see the word as I M Possible. That's right. I am possible.
Indeed I am gramatically challanged.
Then there's also the slight matter of stamina. Finger stamina. Finger strength training exercises will be done weekly. It will consist of a gruesome hour where I, using only my fingers, try to pull apart atoms from one another. No Van der Waals forces shall curb my enthusiasm and slow down my progress.
I might even just tear a slight portion off of the fabric of space and time every month. Just for the sake of it. I never did like the linearity of the space-time cotinuum. It's too science-y.
By my calculations, if I put my training into effect starting tomorrow, I should be able to start blogging more frequently by the time half the world destroys the other half over petty squabbles and minor misunderstandings. Which should be around 2019.
Or I could just write more often. Whatever works I guess.

| Public Shuffle"You're just a Panda!" - Tai Lung , Kung Fu Panda.
A little less than a week ago, the Ministry of Higher Education released the results for acceptance into our esteemed public universities. Having studied Biology for years and going through one and a half years of Form 6, narrowing down my studies in Bio and omitting physics, I used the slots to apply for medical courses in the different universities.
Aptly enough, I found out, along with my other mates, last week that I was offered Information Technology at UKM. Well, who am I to argue. I mean sure, STPM is tougher than certain other courses. Some of which cater to certain groups but that by no means means we are judged by a different standard. Nay, we are all judged by a very strict, very meticulous panel that puts only the worthy in the right courses. The level of scrutiny is paralleled and probably even as thorough as when they give out scholarships. It's such a relief knowing those who can't afford do do the more expensive courses are covered since they got good grades and are not judged in any other way.
Other, carefully chosen, courses that some of my Bio-taking classmates got are, but not limited to, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Microelectronic Engineering, etc.
So what are my plans for now? I don't know either.
