| Work and RelaxationThe October 13th EtsyBlogger carnival has two themes to choose from: 1) work, 2) relaxation.
Well, what I do for one I kind of do for the other, so I'm addressing both.
So, what do I do outside of Etsy and crafting? I'm a freelance editor and writer. I have a PhD in basic medical research, and used to work in a lab, but funding is tight and positions few, so I took something I was good at (editing) and enjoyed doing (writing) and made it pay the bills. I write for a few different sites, hope to publish a book in the near future (I really need to keep up with it), and edit scientific manuscripts. I also hire myself out to anyone who requires my services for any topic.
When I relax, I write, job hunt (I work on contract and constantly need to find new things), go hiking in the beautiful White Mountains (since we moved here in July), and read. I am also addicted to the XBox - particularly Oblivion and Bully. If you've played them, you understand, I'm sure.
I'm always on the computer and always online. It's ridiculous really. lol

| Been awhile...Wow, sorry about the lack of upkeep. I took a trip to Indiana (17 hours one way) to visit my family for my sister's 18th birthday. And I've been putting in proposals for more contract work. Plus doing my current work, preparing for winter (we already have freezing mornings and potential snow), and attempting to restructure my website - I haven't been keeping up with this blog.
Well, no worries. I have plans to participate in this month's EtsyBlogger tasks and I have reactivated more items in my shops that I will be showcasing. They need to go! I have no room for new items.
In fact, I currently have some masks up, so get something unique for your kid this Halloween!

| DisappointingWell, the EtsyBloggers were going to hold a trunk show in the Etsy virtual labs for Fall, but Etsy only allows one street team to reserve the labs per week, even though the trunk show only takes 2 hours, and they're booked until the new year!! Oh well, it'll give me time to get my craft stuff back up and maybe have something fresh rather than reactivated for it.
On a better note, I've been hanging out at the NH Highland Games and was able to photograph some World record holding strongmen! Including the strongest man from Iceland! Hopefully these will be acceptable photographs and I can list them. They may not be though because the distance between the crowd (where I had to be) and the competition was far due to safety (they throw some heavy things!!). But they will be available for viewing at least.

| Featured EtsyBlogger - SeptemberThis month's featured EtsyBlogger is our fearless founder - Joey & Aleethea!!
If it wasn't for her, we wouldn't have a website, forum, or team blog either! She recently had another child, but has been an active member the whole time. I don't know how she does it, I don't have any kids and have trouble keeping up but she has two who motivate and inspire her to keep everything in order!
Likely because of her kiddos she makes the cutest monster-wear for tykes. Blankets, clothing, and fabric baby needs are all available in her handcrafted designs. She often has sales and giveaways, so be sure to bookmark both her blog and her store to keep up-to-date!
Joey&Aleethea, where it's "all about family and fabric, love and laughter, and handmade super coolness." That's how they rock

| A challengeThis week's topic for the EtsyBlogger blog carnival is either my favorite color or a challenge I have taken part in. I am sitting here thinking - what do I write about? I previously wrote about my favorite color and its presence in my crafts. And I can't remember any challenge or contest I've taken part in. I have done an MSOE challenge or two, but nothing that made it to my shop. So why am I writing this entry?
Because I've started a personal challenge that also includes my favorite color I purchased this cross stitch pattern prior to my move. I recently ordered floss in the beautiful purples and blues to start on it. I have only gotten a few light lines done thus far, but hope to finish the piece as a Christmas present. Hopefully I can aim to post a pic every week of my progress with the hopes that it pushes me to actually do it! It's the most challenging pattern I've ever done, and the largest! So if you help keep me to task by asking how it's coming along or reminding me I haven't posted a pic I might just get back on track!
