Lately I have noticed that the photographers that once inspired me don't have the same effect as they once did. Early on in my days of turning photography into more then just a hobby I was fascinated with the artistic direction that photoshop and a variety of other programs allowed for. I vowed to turn myself into a seasoned photoshop ninja...... You really can create whatever mood you fancy with a little proprietary know how and I found myself caught in that trap of caring more about Art then I did the people I was hired to photograph. Over the last week or so I have gone back to some of those websites I once visited and noticed that they
seem cold.
void of emotion
Sure they are artistic and colorful and belong possibly on the cover of a magazine but if I happened to be a part of the couple pictured in the photographs I would feel as if the photographer didn't capture me or us or what we are.
Most of the wedding photographs I see anymore all look the same.
Same pose
Same smile
Same out of the box emotions
There are a few photographers who have discovered ways to avoid a pose
It almost seems as if the photographs are so real that you can feel the emotion being exchanged by the two people dedicating their life to each other.
The journey I am on is one of dicovering the love that two people have
I want to feel what they are feeling
How else would I know what it is that I need to capture?
