| Week #3 at a close ... Week #4 on the Way!Week #3 was a blessing. Seven campers gave their hearts to Christ. Another ten campers rededicated their lives and gained a deeper understanding of what it means to be a child of God. Our counselors are doing an amazing job. They regularly have conversations with the kids about their walk with Christ. They are also there to help each camper celebrate their victories and sooth their hurts with the healing balm of God's Word. Thanks to all who are praying. Next week is Junior High! | | |
| Week #3 in Full SwingWell we are in our first 10-12 year old week. Things are going really well. We had to do quite a bit of counselor trading and fixing since we had a number of health related issues ... but our staff is here and solid. Please pray for the campers who need Christ. Wednesday night seems to be the night when the most important decisions get made. Pray for both counselors and campers. | | |
| Week #2 complete ... Week #3 starts SundayThanks to all who are praying, helping and giving. Week two was a success. We had 58 young ones here for day camp. Five of them made either a rededication or a first time salvation decision. Our counselors got a lot of experience dealing with a program we picked up from Word of Life called ODG. It's a means by which the counselor observes camper behavior and thoughtfully applies the Word of God to the campers needs. This next week will be the first of three weeks of 10-12 year old camp. It will be fully staffed. That is to say we don't just have counselors this week. We will also have the unit leaders in place. The unit leaders are counselors to the counselors (also a thing we picked up from Word of Life). In addition to that our program director will be free to do just program. Whooo Hooo! Please pray for me. I seem to have some physical road blocks. I am dealing with a hurt shoulder and lower back. I have also picked up a nasty cold. I told Darleen that she might have to take me out and shoot me ; ) Be that as it may week #3 is on the horizon. Pray for souls saved and lives transformed. Please pray as well for the counselors. Watching children 24/7 is very demanding. I will try to have some pictures soon. | | |
| Week 1 Campers!
It's amazing how rewarding camp is once you start ; ) We are beginning to have young ones ask our counselors questions. They are searching ... praise God. Please keep them in your prayers. Pray for us as well that we will all stay healthy both physically and spiritually. I am experiencing some back pain. Darleen is trying to line up an appointment for me with the chiropractor.
| Week 1! 7-9 year olds
We're off and running. What a great start to camp. We had an awesome week of training with a staff that are 50% full timers. We also have a pretty decent stipend for them this year. The best part of this year is that is will be a major stepping stone for the years to come. I foresee the day when all of our staff will be full time. Till then part timers continue to come in. Keep us in prayer. We have a camp full of 7-9 year olds this week. Our prayer is that many of these kids will come to know Christ this week ... and get connected to local churches where they can grow in the faith.
