SPAM.

My team and I spent about two hours rapidly exchanging e-mails trying to figure out how we could sneak "doggie style" past most corporate Spam filters.  We couldn't figure any thing out, so we've set a meeting to discuss this further next week.  This is the type of stuff I get paid to do.

I finally got my road bike and registered for the MS 150 last week.  Heather was a little put off by the cost of the bike, pedals, helmet, shoes and other misc. start-up gear, but she thought it was hilarious when I put on my biker shorts for the first time.  I'm not going to lie...it looks totally ridiculous.

Everyone needs to read this book.  It's been a while since I've read any DFW and this book totally reminds me why he's my favorite author.  Sure, I still need to look up words in the dictionary all the time and yeah, the footnotes do get a little annoying, but he rarely dissappoints.  Outside of the 100-page essay on the politics behind english modern usage guides and dictionaries (I skimmed it), it's all winners in this fabulous collection of essays.  His review of Updike is hilarious and his take on 9/11 is both original and poignant.  But the real winner is his essay on the adult film industry's annual award show/convention in Las Vegas.  Simply awesome.

a haircut.

Last night, for the first time in nearly four years, I went to a new place to get my hair cut.  Since our regular guy is MIA again (His sister says he's on "vacation," but I think "vacation" means a second stint in rehab), I was forced to try a new place out.  I ended up going to Bradz (http://www.bradz.com), on my boss' recommendation.  They're pretty good.  I may start going there on a regular basis.  The funny part is that since they're one of those Aveda Salon/Spa joints, haircuts come with a free facial, so when the lady told me that, I gave her a really weird look.  Obviously not the first time she's seen that face from a guy because she quickly responded, "Don't worry.  It's not that Gay."  I disagree as Heather said I "reeked of botanicals" all night, but whatever, at least my skin feels rejuvenated.

I've been having a ton of fun with this web site: www.careerbuilder.com/monk-e-mail.  Highlights have included telling Jess to "regulate the train in my pants" and asking Heather why I could smell her farts through the computer screen (a bit immature but made totally worth it when she said it played while there were kids in the room).
