Wow it has been a while~ School is same old, trying to focus and stay on top of all the new stuff we are learning.. But I love it. It was soooo nice to be home for Thanksgiving. I didn't get to eat the traditional turkey dinner but maybe that's a good thing, bc I would've stuffed my face with mashed potatoes, yams, pies and all the yumminess. My family did the chinese dinner of HOT POT!! hehe that was good too.

I got home real late last wednesday night at Oakland airport, the minute i stepped outside of the airport I swear my face was going to fall off. So friggin cold!! the previous night I had went to bed in a tanktop, shorts and with the air conditioner on! so yea, thats one good thing about socal, horrible air and traffic, but nice weather. I learned my lesson to never fly home the sunday after thanksgiving. The traffic was horrrible TO and AT the airport. and of course I decided to bring back a bunch of crap in my suitcase so I had to check it in, and it was OVER the allowed 50 lbs, forcing me to open my suitcase in front of all the other ppl at the airport, embarrassing display of underwear etc... then I wait in the metal detector line for 30 min, which was bad bc I got to the airport at 7:15pm for my 8:00pm flight, the traffic to the terminals are disgusting. So I had to literally SPRINT to my gate (the opposite end of the airport) and then after we got into the airplane and seated, delay for ONE hour......

But being home reminded me of how much I missed my family and MJ. I was so sad bc MJ's birthday is 11/19 and our 4 year anniversary is 11/27, and of course I was home 11/21 to 11/26 and missed both!!! boo
It's amazing when you've been with someone for so long and still find that other person wonderful in so many ways and find yourself all smitten all over again.

Ok 2 weeks until final!!! wish me luck!

I know when I am tired when....

1. I nod off in anatomy lecture, and wake up to find highlighter marks, or unlegiable scribbles slant off diagonally and off my powerpoint slide printouts onto the desk.....

2. When I ACTUALLY fall asleep during Yoga, when the instructor tells me to lie on my back on the mat, and CONSCIOUSLY relax the muscles in my body with soothing music in the background, and I wake up to see everyone in sitting yoga position and me being the only person still lying on her back on the floor....

3. When I set my cellphone alarm for 645 PM instead of AM, and wake up to my dental friends call me from our meeting spot at 735am when I was suppose to meet them at 7:30. Woke up, changed, brushed teeth, ran down, all within 5 minutes to luckily catch the shuttle to make it to my 8am QUIZ in lab and yet, still got a perfect score on the quiz~

So I am on my official 3rd day of school and I feel like its been a month, at least the material we are learning. Today I got to go into lab and do WAXING, where we have this expensive $400 machine that melts this expensive $500 colored wax to fill in fake teeth. I got to use little steel dental tools (haha obviously I dont know the real names for the stuff yet...) You would never think there SOO much to do in a tooth. It's not jus fill in the whole. You need to do layers, and partitions, and blah blah!! Different colors, and have the bench instructor come to check you off, and then you have to make sure the surfac is super smooth and the curvature of the tooth matches the one next to it, and even the tiniest hole is bad. So really perfectionist anal people would make good dentists. haha. The lab is really nice, the professor has a projector thing where his hands and tooth can be viewed from our own mini monitors at our station.

Anatomy is great here too. My group has 4 people to a set of cadaver. We have a woman one, she is really petite, another table in the lab has this man who is 6'2'', so all his muscles are really developed, such as trapezius, rhomboids, and latissimus dorsi. We need to memorize where all the muscles attach and what nerve innervates it, and its actions. I am just glad that I took anatomy at Berkeley, some people are just so clueless!! I feel so bad for them. The smell of the solution the preserve the bodies is sooo strong, the fume floats up to my eyes, and make them water, EVEN when I wear goggles!

It's weird going back to school, after 4 months of summer, 8am classese everyday, sometime I get out at 2pm, but others 8am-5pm.... takes some time to get used to~ I miss norcal tho, I miss norcal ppl =(

So I had my first day of class today ~ officially a dental school student!! today was a short day though only 8am-2pm, tomorrow is a toughy bc I actually have anatomy lab in the afternoon, so it'll be 9am-5pm, eek!! So far it's just a lot of work, but i really enjoy anatomy, all the muscles and bones and organs, i am just really glad I took anatomy lab at Berkeley, even tho it was only a 2 unit class but it totally deserved at least 6 units. Some students never seen a cadaver before.... and one person doesnt know what the difference is between anterior and posterior when looking at the body....

so I get to wake up and throw on my scrubs, they call it the "smurf suit" haha, since they are blue and all. I kinda like the fact that its like a uniform, so 2 out of 5 days I dont have to plan my outfit. Sweeeet. It's like elementary school in Taiwan all over again, plaid skirt uniform and suspenders lol. =)

Yay! so I am all settled in my new UCLA graduate housing!! woohoo! My roomie, Lauren, and I REALLY get along, and I know this bc she laughs at my silly jokes and! last night she peeked her head into my room and asked me what my favorite flavor ice cream was, so she can buy ice cream and not have to eat it all herself, and I told her "mint chocolate chip, the green kind" and thats HER fav too!! hehe We went and got manicures today (since she never had one before) and then we cooked pasta for dinner together~ Lauren, I found out is half chinese and half japanese, 24 years old, and in the sociophych program for her masters ( SIX YEARS!!!!!!) goodness. And she's from San Diego, hopefully I can butter her up enough so she can take me to the SD zoo and seaworld hehe.

So meeting all these new ppl, I found out I have some embarrassing stories when I introduce myself, somehow they all wind up being me love bowling and having my own 8.5 lb ball and...... William Hung having a crush on me freshmen year (gosh ppl LOVE that one...) no comment lol.

I had my white coat ceremony today, I pledged to do good with my skills and knowledge. There are 90 dental students in the Class of 2010~ and 5 are from UC Berkeley (and I happened to know all of them ) , 13 from Bringham young university in Utah, like 30 from UCLA, 20 from UC Irvine, and other miscellaneous. I was kinda sad this morning when I walked toward campus (in the rain, in my white blouse) grr, bc no one was attending as my guest, but when I got to the theatre for the ceremony everyone was so nice and friendly and quick to introduce themselves, it was nice =) tomorrow morning I have to meet at 7:45am at the lecture hall for orientation (shoot me...) and purchase a $12,000 dental kit (shoot me now) and learn how I will be in debt for the 20 years following graduation aiyo!!!

BUT this saturday *drum roll* will be!!!! MAGIC MOUNTAIN 6 FLAGS!!! wooohooo! my first time EVER! roller coasters here I come!!
