Finally back from a long xanga break!  4th year has really gone by fast...interviews were fun and I actually miss the traveling!  Talking about interviews....match day is coming up....been so stressed lately that I've been getting daily headaches..not good.  I hope the match ends up being okay, this wait is aweful!

On a different note, congrats to leah!!   Woo hoo -- and what's more exciting, I get to be her matron-of-honor!  Yup, MATRON...sounds weird huh?  2 more months till I take the plunge!  Check out our new website I made a few weeks ago:  www.amyandpeter.net.  Anyways, Its definitely gonna be a challange trying to help her with the wedding during my intern year...I've even started to apologize now though the planning hasn't started yet =P

Finally done with the third year of med school! Say good-bye to the days of studying for shelf exams, being scutted out beyond belief, retracting for hours on end in the OR, sucking up to everyone...and...more...  It was nice to finish the year with a laid back rotation (family practice) in the valley.  I actually ended up liking McAllen more than I expected!  It was fun to be in a new place, getting to improve my spanish, experience small town medicine, work with nice faculty, and of course - chill at the beach (padre) a few times.  Okay, I guess the rotation felt more like a vacation...but we did have to work hard!  I got to scrub in on several c-sections and shadow a neonatologist one day.  Definitely not your typical 'family practice' stuff you would see in the big city.  Overall, I'm more of a large city person.  I miss the trendy restaurants and high end shopping easily found in large cities and I kinda got sick of getting weird looks everywhere we went (like people in the valley haven't seen asian people before) =P

Now its onto vacation for one week!  I've finally decided to specialize in pediatrics!  I never thought I would like peds but there's something about sick kidos that really touches my heart and seeing them get well makes me happy at the end of the day.  I hope to do a fellowship in neonatology after residency but that's a long time from now, so I'll see.   After taking a week off, I will start my neurology sub-internship on july 5th.  Until then, its time to relax, start wedding planning and residency research.
