"It's the bitch of living...."

"And knowing this is it"
--Spring Awakening

Some enchanted evening is KILLING me! I had no idea Rogers and Hammerstein were so frickin' hard! I've also never been in a show without lines before and it is WEIRD!  But also, I'm singing all these songs about love and I just wonder if I could ever be like that.  Soft, vulnerable, and thinking love is everything.  That doesn't SOUND like me, or a person I would want to be, but maybe I don't want to be that to cover up the fact that I can't.  I just CAN'T.  Is that weird?  All things considered I have a pretty awesome thing going.  I have a good summer theater sched.  I'm poor, but not AS poor.  I'm eating better and getting exercise.  I have great friends (a pretty great boyfriend included).  It's not like I'm alone.  It's not like I'm having problems.  I wonder if I'll just always be kinda cold and noncommittal.  And for the first time ever I'm hoping I'm not.  Because maybe then I could sing one of R & H's love songs with the crazy intervals and weird harmonies and actually mean it.  Or at least, know what it means.  Also, when I'm getting inspiration for my songs, I don't think about my boyf.  I think about past things.  Granted, their sad songs of loss, but is that weird??? Am I weird????!!!!

I need to be done with this musical stuff and get back to make-up where I belong ASAP.  It's really messing with my head!

Sex and the Farmhouse

We've been watching Sex and the City in a countdown to the amazingness that will be the movie, and even in re-watching SATC is AHHHH-MAZING! I am sooo pscyhed for the movie.  Lindsay and I are planning on getting all NYC-fied and drinking cosmos before and I'm gonna be giddy with delight, I'm sure.

Yes, this is the girliest I get.

Inside the Actor's Studio with ME!

DISCLAIMER: Minus James Lipton and the amazing question "What is your favorite swear word?"  In fact, I stole this from Ange.

Q) How many boyfriends/girlfriends have you had?
A) since high school......about 7 boyfriends....but I have TONS of girlfriends!

Q) What were your high school colors?
A) Blue and white....we were the blu-jays, the sissiest mascot ever, and we didn't even SPELL it correctly!

Q) How do you feel about PDA?
A) I'm not a huge fan.  I like people to know I am my own person and not weird them out by dry-humping my boyf, but I do like to be affectionate, just not overly so

Q) How many tickets -if any- have you gotten?
A) I got one when I was sixteen for speeding, and two my soph year of college for being a shitty driver

Q) Do you like cheese?
A) I LOVE cheese! all kinds, except for the really stinky kind....if anybody's up for a wine and cheese night come to the farmhouse!

Q) Do you play World of Warcraft?
A) I have better things to do with my time.

Q) Have you played Halo yet?
A) A little with my guy friends, but I really suck so I mainly just talk smack on the headset....it's the Wii for mii!

Q) Do you know what the shocker is?
A) Unfortunately....but it's never been done to me....thank god!

Q) What is your favorite Starbucks drink?
A) .I really like their egg nogg latte in the winter, the pumpkin pie latte in the fall, but usually I just go to java cat which is waaaay better.

Q) Do you like Chinese food?
A) indeed, but not chinese buffets, I HATE buffets!

Q) Whats the most embarrassing thing you have been caught doing?
A) Isn't being in ZOIKS like perpetually doing embarrassing things and allowing yourself to be caught doing them?

Q) Do you have a secret that less than 3 people know about?
A) no

Q) How do you feel about alcoholic beverages and underage drinking?
A) I sat in a police station this year because of it, it wasn't me, but still....In europe they don't have problems with drunk driving and alcoholism and underage drinking as much because they don't put this stigma on it.  Americans want to party and live it up but are told we are supposed to feel bad about it, it's ridiculous and puritanical.

Q) What color are your socks?
A) no socks, I HATE socks!

Q)How many hours of sleep do you personally need to function well?
A) however many I can get!

Q) What is your favorite store?
A) Walgreens! They have make-up and my organic bath stuff for cheaper than the health food store.

Q) Whats your favorite article of clothing?
A) my brown chucks with the paint all over them that I've had since I started college.

Q) Have you ever dyed your hair?
A) yes, but I don't get to anymore, and that makes me feel no bueno.

Q) What color is your car?
A) white

Q) Do you even have a car?
A) I wish I had a hybrid instead of my gas guzzling, environmentally unfriendly escape

Q) Where do you work?
A)In the ESU costume shop.

Q) Do you like it?
A) I really like making costumes more than I ever thought I would.  I made 3 costumes for the last show myself! It was awesome and I really felt like I accomplished something!

Q) Do you like the people you work with?
A)I do, one is my best friend, the others I would all consider friends.

Q)Are you smart?
A) I am of above average intelligence.

Q)So do you work hard in school?
A) Not in some areas, but I always get my work done and done well and in theater I work my ASS OFF.

Q) What are you majoring in, or planning on majoring in?
A) Theater...one more year to go!

Q) Do you like your school?
A) I really do like ESU, I've learned a lot and I've had a lot of success here.

Q) Do you collect loose change?
A) yes....I'm really poor so sometimes it feeds me or gets me gas.

Q) How much money do you have saved up?
A) None....I make 100 dollars every two weeks, every cent I have goes to something.

Q) Do you go to church?
A) I don't really believe in organized religion.

Q) Have you ever been a cheerleader?
A) believe it or not I was a cheerleader for six years! I was even captain of the squad and a UCA all-star.....lame, I know.

Q)Have you ever been on a dance team?
A) No, but I have taken dance classes and I enjoy them, I just really don't have a lot of talent.

Q) Have you ever taken gymnastics?
A) I tried when I was a kid but they kicked me out because the teachers were freaked out by my double-jointed-ness.

Q) Do you know how to salsa?
A) Maybe someday.

Q) Can you draw, paint, or sculpt?
A) Not really, unless you're talking about the drawing, painting, and sculpting I do for my make-up designs.  No, I don't scuplt clay, but I can sculpt you a new nose or give you a sweet laceration.  No, I can't paint a landscape, but I can paint a picasso-worthy work on your face!

Q) Are you crafty?
A) Not really, but I'd like to be. I wanna learn how to make jewelery this summer.

Q) Are you a vegetarian?
A) No, but I could be. I don't really like meat a lot particularly red meat and I love fruits and veggies!  I would be a skinny, super-healthy person if I had money and I didn't LOVE sweets!

Q) Do you like your family as a whole?
A) I love my family! I couldn't get by without my momma, and I don't mean just financially either, we are a team.

Q) Do you hate school?
A) No, I've always liked school and learning, and interacting with others, but I think I'm getting really ready to move on and leave Kansas and go to make-up school somewhere far away and start MAKING money, instead of spending it!

Q) How do you feel about rude people?
A)I don't appreciate them, but I also don't think that I should perpetuate their behavior by being rude myself.

Q) How do you feel about homeless people?
A) I don't know every homeless person or any for that matter, so I have no right to judge.  I give what I can and work for what I get, so that's how I live my life.

Q) How do you feel about starving people?
A) Why are we fighting wars for oil instead of feeding the hungry??? If I could feed them all, I would, but I can barely feed myself! (even though it doesn't show)

Q) Do you do your part to contribute to society?
A) Yes, I do.  I vote, I live as green as possible within my monetary boundaries, and I try and fight the good fight.

Q) Do you give to those less fortunate?
A) I am the less fortunate.  But whenever I have things to spare I give them away.

Q) Do you recycle?
A) We have before after parties...when we get the house cleaned up if I have a few extra bucks I'm gonna buy some extra bins for recycling.

Q) Do you donate blood?
A) I have before, it doesn't bother me at all like some people.  If there's a blood drive I'm game!

Q) Do you donate anything?
A) Yes, I donate clothes, mainly.

Q) When and where do you donate those things?
A) I donate my time to the theater and I donate my clothes to goodwill.

Q) Do you volunteer anywhere?
A) No, I'm too busy "volunteering" at the theater, but I used to volunteer at a Residencies for the elderly.

Q) How do you feel about high heels?
A) I can't walk in them.  They're uncomfortable and I'm clumsy.  Heels have an appropriate place and time, but not over high ones.  Mainly I'm a flats kinda girl.

Q) How do you feel about the tattoos known as tramp stamps?
A) Everybody has them, they're kitsch.

Q) How do you feel about tattoos in general?
A) I don't think I could ever love something besides myself long enough to put it on my body forever, and getting a tattoo of me or my name is a little vain....and I would change my mind about the design and hate it, so the most I could ever do would be henna.  However, I think tattooing is an art form and people that can really rock their tattoos are endlessly cool to me.

Q) Do you like piercings?
A) I do indeed.  I have a few....but nothing in excess.

Q) Which ones your favorite?
A) My favorite is my nose piercing, on guys a lip ring drives me crazy (in the good way)

Q) What kind of pain reliever do you take for headaches?
A) whatever is around, which sounds awful, but I'm really not picky

Q) How often do you get sick?
A) Not often, this year I got the flu, but EVERYBODY at ESU got the flu.

Q) Have you ever created anything from duct tape and if so, what?
A) No, I think it's tacky....literally and figuratively.

Q) Do you even know how many colors of duct tape they have?
A) No, does it matter?

Q) Do you like sharpies?
A) We have sharpies around our house in case an awesome quote is said and needs to go on the quote board, but other than that I don't really use them.

Q) How do you feel about loud people in the library?
A) Our library only has one quiet zone, so I don't really mind, but you should never be obnoxiously loud no matter where you are...not cool...

Q) What is your favorite holiday?
A) Halloween, I mean, were you AT the Halloween Party me and my roomies threw this year?!

Q) At Christmas, do you prefer giving or getting?
A) Everyone likes getting of course, but I'm one of the few people that LOVES Christmas mainly for picking out presents for people.  I like to think I have really great taste and I am known for giving awesome presents.  It makes me really happy to give presents to others, if I had an unlimited budget my gifts would be INSANE!

Q) How many hours of exercise do you get in a week?
A) Depends on how busy my week is.  But I usually get at least a couple hours walking to class, and every semester I take a fitness course that interests me.

Q) What kind of exercise do you do?
A) I walk, like I said, I lift weights, and I LOVE yoga.

Q) How do you feel about people that label themselves?
A) If you label yourself you're trying to fit into something you can never be, others might label you that, but you should just be you and not worry about labels.

Q) Have you ever been asked to a dance?
A) Yeah, but usually by friends.

Q) Do you like bright colors?
A) Actually, not really, I prefer muted tones in dress and decoration, but not in design.

Q) Do you like dark colors?
A) Not dark....muted.

Q) Do you like pastel colors?
A) No, not that type of muted.  Pastel is not my style.

Q) Whats your favorite kind of candy?
A) yes....oh, and  zero bars.

Q) Is there anyone you dont like?
A) there are more that I do.

Q) Is there anyone you are holding a grudge against?
A) Nope, there's no point.  It does more harm to me than them.

Q) Is there anyone holding a grudge against you?
A) Who knows, who cares?

Q) Are you a bad person?
A) No, but most people are essentially good. We just hear more about the bad ones.

Q) Do you hate or love life?
A) I'm living the dream!

Q) Do you take advantage of everyday?
A) No, but I 'm doing what I want to be doing, while working toward doing what I want to be doing for the rest of my life, which is pretty cool.

Q) Do you treat others as you would like to be treated?
A) Is there any other way to treat people?  Sure, I don't always succeed, but I try.

Q) Do you have morals?
A) I may not have the morals of conservative society, but I have a strong set of morals that allow me to enjoy my life without guilt and still be a positive and productive human being.

Q) If you were 12 and you could see yourself now, would you be dissappointed?
A) Yeah, I would, but my life has changed in ways I never saw coming.

Q) Do you like Paris Hilton?
A) Paris Hilton is a poster child for the downfall of our society and the poor example for young girls.  All you really need in life is lots of money, no work ethic, no career, and to look pretty at any cost??? That disgusts me.

Q) Do you like Nicole Richie?
A) She's just as bad.

Q) Do you like Tom Cruise?
A) He's not a bad actor, but him and Mel Gibson have gone a little religion whacky.

"You said you're gross, my darling..."

"I said no, I'm rock and roll"
--Kimya Dawson

Wow! I haven't posted on here in FOREVER, but I'm still alive, never fear.  I'm not "lying dead in a ditch with syphillis," as my friend Julie likes to say, and even though I don't post or comment much, I do still read other people's updates, so...

Anyway, things are good.  I'm really....happy.  Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either.

"Woman in Black," went AWESOME in my opinion, and the respondent liked my make-up design, so that was cool.  I put a lot of hard work and I'm glad for the (sorta) break but I'll miss the super-fun pre-show times.

Right now I'm directing a scene, in a scene, working on some stuff that is due this week, and gearing up for "Shakespeare in Hollywood," and summer theater auditions.  Thank God spring break is soon!

Well, that's all for now.  I have some research I need to do before rehearsal, so...later.

All dressed up and no place to go...

I'm bored here in Emporia.  Not your normal kind of bored, but the agonizing kind.  I mean, there are things I could (and will) do, like mail my bills, write a letter to my dad, look for 2 more monologues, memorize 4 monologues and 2 scenes, maybe go to the thrift store, work on my make-up design, and eat; and things I could (and won't) do, like clean the house and my room.  My bedroom floor is an urban legend.

At least this weekend will be fun when we go to Steph's wedding and then I go and hang out with Heather!!!! Hooray!!! I'm psyched to see Heather's place and hit the town with her!

Lindsay and I were abandoned last night.  All the people we were supposed to hang out with were gone or doing something else.  It sucked.

Two weeks until school starts and I have loads of stuff to do but hardly any of it sounds fun....poop.

I fell asleep last night on my couch reading a play.  It was a good play, but I'm still in last night's clothes, boots and all.  I think maybe I'll take a shower after I take Pete to work.
