an update...

i figured an update at least once a year is necessary!  so much has changed since i last wrote and my life is absolutely and completely different! 

i finished my year at isu as an acting and directing major and decided it was not where i wanted to stay.  i have now been in cosmetology school since may and i am enjoying my time.  i just finished all of my classroom learning and starting this tuesday will be out on the floor, working in the clinic, and taking clients fulltime.  i am very excited for this because i feel like i will learn the most throughout that time.  i graduate in february!

i start my BA program on september 12th at national-louis university and will be in class one night a week for about a year.  this means i will have my degree next fall which will be very exciting.  i hope to spend the remainder of that year preparing for graduate school auditions.  i want to get my master's in musical theatre and pursue a career performing!

i just quit olive garden after being there for around a year and a half.  i now work at chili's which will be much better for me because of my school schedule and the location.  i am out of training and enjoying my time there.  i like the people and am hoping it will turn out to be a good experience.  (currently i'm in limbo and am trying to manage both jobs at once until my 2 weeks are up at the og.) 

i am, of course, back into the swing of cyt, as well.  i just finished performing in grease where i played marty and had a very good time.  i am vocal directing pocahontas in kane county cyt and we just had auditions/callbacks this past week.  they went well and i am definitely very excited to start the rehearsal process.

i am still dating kyle and we are doing wonderfully.  i am so happy and, somehow, find myself loving him more and more everyday.  i am so proud of who he is, who he is becoming, and of how he is living his life with such drive and determination.  his forward motion these days is awesome!  things couldn't be better and i am so amazed at how blessed i am and how beautifully perfect we are for each other.

i think that is all that is going on in my life.  i stay incredibly busy but i love every minute of it.  i have no complaints and i adore the fact that i am, somehow, managing to juggle all of these activities so that, one day soon, i can do what i dream of doing.  every single thing i do now is a stepping stone helping me along the path to achieving my ultimate goals, dreams, and desires.  god has been very faithful in providing and although it isn't, by any means,  easy, it's certainly worth the battle and all of the efforts.

i thought i'd share a little taste of what i'm doing at school with all of you!  i performed this in my musical theatre acting class.  it was a very small audience and is, most times, hard to hear because of the piano... but listen away!

quick update... work is good. school is getting better.  i just got cast as janet in the rocky horror picture show.  i'm a little nervous cause it's a bit (a big bit) racey.  but, i think it will be a good experience overall.  i went to auditions and they told me that they were looking for a janet (who is the leading lady).  i sang my two songs, they gave me a side to read, i sang a song from the show, and they offered me the part before i left!  i was extrememly shocked and it still seems a bit surreal.  the directors were very excited which is awesome.  it will be a great time to learn for me.  that's the big news of the moment!  more to come as it happens.

so... life has been good lately!  i have been keeping busy, which is good, and having a good time.  I have been working a lot and not even realizing it.  last week i worked 36 hours... kinda crazy!  i am really enjoying my new olive garden and i love the people there.  it is a really fun time!  i am now an expo, as well, and usually expo about once a week.  i can now pick up host shifts, too... it's outta control! : )  but really, i really like my job and it makes going to work not so bad!

school is going well, too.  for my opera practicum, we are doing an abridged version of Showboat and i got the soprano lead! (i'm magnolia for any of you that know showboat!)  that'll be a great experience and i'm really excited.  my acting class is kinda boring, but i think it'll get better further into it.  music history = boring.  theatre history = boring but my teacher is really cool.  spanish = easy so far... nothing new.  dance is really fun and i love going.  it is also quite the intense workout!  it is stretching me as a dancer in really new ways and styles. fun stuff!

i think that's about all for now...  still doing the whole 'making friends' thing.  my roommate is great and we hang out a lot.  my work friends are really fun, too, and i love hanging out with them.  i've been hanving out with a lot of people from high school, too, and it's always a good time. 

congrats to everybody cast in the shows this fall!  i'm so excited for all of you!  let me know how you're all doing... i miss everybody!  : (
