| Snowed in...and happy about it...Today God has blessed Sara and me with an abundance of snow. So much so that both Ohio State, and Columbus State are canceled. These schools never cancel. God is truly great, because both of us needed a break.
Lately I have been struck by how little I evangelize. I have been blessed by my wife, a good job, and a wonderful church family, but I need to work on this. I have done better, but I would like to strive for more.
Anyway, I thought I'd update, as I hadn't in a very long time, lol. That may be an understatement.
Throughout it all just remember that God is good, and in everything, as my good friend reminded me the other day, we should be glorifying our Savior.
In Christ,
Andy

| Wha...How do you use this thing again????Hello Fellow Xangians,
So sorry about the lag in updates, but alas...I decided I should take a leave and focus on my young, new, and growing marriage.
The last 5 months have been fun. Yet it is all gone by so fast.
What has happened? Not to much, and quite a bit.
Things worth mentioning...
- Sara's Pregnant...NOT! (Sorry, this is for James and the numerous other people that enjoy spreading rumors...lol)
- I am still at System7, Inc. and have almost totally converted the office to google-ites...
- The bathroom was in dire need of repainting, soooo...I attempted...and we'll see how things go with that...
- Sara and I have both been really excited for Christmas...that started in August...lol...
- Sara and I will both be able to help with the my family christmas tree farm...and for the first time in my life I'm going to enjoy that. So I expect to see ALL of you there to buy a tree this year!!! Being out of state or out of country is NO excuse...
- Just about all of Sara's cousins are now married, and only me and one other cousin are married on my side of the family...craziness...
- I go back to school in January...and I excited...two things that have NEVER happened before...
Well, that sums it up for now...Hope all of you are well...
God Bless,
Andy

| Why do I believe in God?Truthfully, if I were asked why I believe in God, in Christ's death and resurrection, and in the Bible, I would answer, "Look around. All the theory in the universe, can't explain how everything in this world works together so perfectly."
Why do I believe that Christ is the way?
A.) Because he said he was.
B.) Recently, as I look around campus I see downcast faces. No one is truly happy. I hear people talking about how sick they got after the party that they don't remember. I hear women talk about how they can't believe he said all those things just to sleep with her, and then broke up with her. I look around and see senseless murders, children gunning down children, and everything else. There is something desperately wrong with us. Christ is the only answer that makes any sense at all in this world. When I look at His dying on the cross for me, how can I not believe in Him?
What proof do I have?
Nothing you can measure, nothing you can put a finger on. But do you believe there is wind? You can't see wind. Yet, you know it's there. Why? Because you can feel it. You can see its effects. It's the same with God. You can't see him, but if you believe he's there you CAN see the effects he places on the world. The world is proof enough of God.
"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." Romans 1:20
God HAS given us proof. Look around, it's there if you want to see it. If you don't, then you'll look in every corner of this world, looking for the reason, and the how of creation, only to find incomplete theories of men who were never content with life, never happy in the end, and died angry.

| The "Infinite" This is a comment I posted on "Mr. Jargon's" site, a very deep minded individual named Willian that I have been reading for a while. Mord and Lance, I think you might like this one.
Jargon's Post: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dan Barker's Freewill Argument for the Non-Existence of God
Barker's Argument: (Informal Statement)
1) The Christian God is defined as a personal being who knows everything and has free will.
2)
In order to have free will, you must have more than one option, each of
which is avoidable. This means that before you make a choice, there
must be a state of uncertainty during a period of potential: you cannot
know the future. Even if you think you can predict your decision, if
you claim to have free will, you must admit the potential (if not the
desire) to change your mind before the decision is final.
3) A
being who knows everything can have no "state of uncertainty." It knows
its choices in advance. This means that it has no potential to avoid
its choices, and therefore lacks free will. Since a being that lacks
free will is not a personal being, a personal being who knows
everything cannot exist. 4) Therefore, the Christian God does not exist.
(See this link for the whole argument and his treatment of common objections.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Response, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lol! All I have to say is it is quite an example of placing our God inside of man's box. The Christian God CREATED the universe, including time! God therefore is not held by our rules, the rules HE created, which also means no one can explain or understand how God works, and makes decisions.
In Calculus there is an amazing example of how we cannot understand God's knowledge. Basically, we say that God is infinate. We know that we are finite in every aspect, that is, our very being can be measured. In calculus, we use infinity to see how functions (graphs like lines, parabola's and the like) we be in the end. Also, we say that these statements are, by definition, true:
A.) 10 + (infinity) = (infinity)
Also,
B.) 1 million + (infinity) = (infinity)
If A and B are true, then a third is true by substitution:
C.) 10 + (infinity) = 1 million + (infinity);
subtract infinity from both sides, and we get:
D.) 10 = 1 million
Now, apply this to the knowlege base of one man (the first equation), and the collective knowlege of mankind (the second). My knowlege amounts to the exact same as all of man's knowlege. Interesting, no? Sorry, I'm a bit of a math enthusiast.
Basically the point I am trying to make in all of this is that in the math world, when we study the case of the infinate, we have to throw ALL of the normal rules out of the window. Any number, added to a second number, CANNOT equal the fist, EXCEPT when we throw in the infinate. Infinity does not stand by the finites rules by definition. We HAVE to assume it plays by it's own rules, or we can't use it. Infinity can't be measured, can't be tested. It just IS. Another interesting note is that we can use infinity to test the finite, but we cannot use the finite to test the infinate. I find this so comforting when I see that God provided this example, even in the least place you would expect to find it, used by men who find ignorance in people who believe what they cannot see. God is truly amazing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All I have to say is isn't God amazing?
God Bless,
Andy
