We have found a home!!!!!!!
After hours of on-line house hunting & a couple of days of frustrating house looking, our wonderful realtor, Karen Levine, directed us to this little gem

It is tucked away in a neighborhood by Standley Lake, our favorite place to hang out with the doggie.
It has parks and schools and lakes and swimming pools all within walking distance.
It has a big back yard for Tumnus to play in.
It has a deck. . .a real wooden deck with stairs!
And we can see the mountains from our living room!!!!!!
And it has 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms and a laundry room and a garage and lots of cabinet space and new carpet and we love it!!!!

Our offer was accepted today. We are set to close in November. Between now and then, we have to do the inspection, get some water damage corrected, move out of our little apartment and into a temporary space, and pray that everything works out just right.

We are really so excited. We weren't sure that finding a house with a yard and three rooms and in a neighborhood that felt safe was within our reach. Our realtor told us that our expectations might be a little too high. . . and they were.
But not to sound cheesy, but God just really is so good. And we just walked right into this home, and it really seems just right for us. We've kind of been in awe all weekend, wondering how it has all come together so perfectly. . .
and so thankful that it has.

So. Anyway. I'll stop rambling. But we are excited. So we thought we'd share our excitement with everyone else!
We stole some pictures from the MLS site for your enjoyment. We may add some more later, after Dan walks through for the inspection.

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Our little kitchen

The view out of our front window

And the back window

(if you squint you can see the deck. . .its amazing)

25

well Friday afternoon I was sitting around at my office, wondering what I would do for my birthday.

then Friday evening while taking Tumnus for a swim at Standley Lake, Dan tells me that he has a big surprise for me.
Dan had a job filming a Ballroom Dancing Contest all weekend long, so instead of having me sit around on my birthday weekend, he surprised me with a plane ticket to Dallas. . .Andrea & Steven picked me up from the airport & treated me to a wonderful breakfast on Saturday, then Andrea and I went shopping on Tax-Free Weekend and spent waaaay too long at the mall & target & wal-mart. . .but i came out with a sweet new shirt and a fantastic hoodie :)
Sunday morning we went to church at The Oaks, then we went to a wonderful hole in the wall Mexican restaurant, and just hung around. . .
Then the real fun began! Andrea and I had it cooked up to go out with a couple of friends, and surprise them with the fact that I was in town! It was a lot of fun to see Danae & Jessica's reactions when they me. . . and it was even more fun to get to hang out with them! I love those girls. It made we wish that some of my other good friends were there. . .but it was so nice because it just felt so normal and natural, like we all just picked up where we left off. . .we've all grown and changed since college. . .but we are still all just good friends.
So here's a few pics from Sunday night at The Cheesecake Factory (and the parking lot afterward)

After we had had our fill of cheesecake and bread, I called Jamie with the news that I was in town. . .Thankfully she wasn't busy and I was able to stay the night at her loft & hang out with her some too!
Monday was my actual birthday and I woke up to this special treat

Lucky for me, I guess she keeps candles on hand. . . here I am receiving this birthday goodness. If I look a little puffy its because it really is first thing in the morning to me!

Then she headed to work & I sat around, then got ready for the day. She took me to lunch at Subway

And then it was back to the airport, where I sat in the terminal and took a few birthday phonecalls :)
IMG_1299

The plane ride was extra nice. . .somehow I ended up on the only row with nobody else in it!!! I scooted over to the window & enjoyed the ride, listening to a playlist from my husband & reading a magazine. . .very nice

But for all of the fun I had that weekend, few sights are as sweet as seeing my husband waiting for me at the airport
IMG_1301

We went home & just sat around for a bit, watched some Mtv, and played with the doggie.

Then it was over to Deana & Steve's for a wonderful evening! We ate homemade lasagna, cherry cheesecake, and played a little Wii

Today I had the day off again, since I put a couple of extra days worth of work in at the office last week. So Dan & I went swimming, then to Chipotle, and to the movies. . .but not before stopping by Floyd's Barbershop for a new look

So, all in all, I'd say that I had a pretty un-toppable 25th birthday. I was a little unsure about turning a whole quarter of a century. . . but this weekend I got to spend time with good friends, and talk to my family, and get messages and comments and emails from my other wonderful friends. . . and it softened the blow of being such an oldie quite a bit.
And now, I'm off for dinner with the Nelsons at the D-Note. . .mmmmm, pizza!

i agree

You Should Spend Your Summer at the Beach

You're a free spirit who is always thinking of new ways to have fun.

And you don't just love summer... you live for it.

So, you really should blow off your responsibilities and head to the beach!

contentment

contentment is something that isn't easy for me to define or pinpoint. . .
its something I wish I always felt & realized. . . but most of the time, I'm not very content.
I'm worried, I'm striving, I'm planning, I'm wishing for something different & better.

but today, i am content. . . and i even feel content.
There are lots of little things over the past few days that make me feel happy. . .lots of things that I'm just enjoying right now. . .
cutting up strawberries, watching my doggy leap over a drainage ditch playing in the park, playing putt-putt golf with good friends, spending time with family, seeing one of my clients make it through a really tough time, getting a sunburn on my cheeks, relaxing on the couch with my husband, cooking a good meal. . .

But I think that its more than just the whimsical stuff that makes me feel happy. . . I'm just content, I think. Glad to be right where I'm at. . .grateful for all the amazing family & friends & things that we have.

So. . . I was just thinking that & thought that I would say it (or type it) out loud.
