| port huronimagine waking up to the beach in your back yard every day. it was SO COOL to spend the weekend at liz's cottage! it was simply beautiful.
fyi the attendees at the party were: myself (girlfriend of the bride's brother), natalia (bride), tia paula (natalia's aunt), liz (maid of honor), jen (bridesmaid), shandora (bridesmaid), and steph (bridesmaid and also sister of the groom). sara, natalia's younger sister, is also a bridesmaid but she's only 14 so she couldn't join in on the festivities.
simply beautiful- picture taken from their beach property
shoreline to the left of their beach property our towels from laying out! i learned my mistake... the sun is my enemy!!
firepit in their backyard i went kayaking for the first time, so fun!! i got super burnt though this is steph and her boyfriend, kim

| bridal garter belti made this garter belt for natalia to wear in her wedding, something blue! i finished it just in time to take to her bachelorette party this past weekend. it was fun to make and didn't take too long. if i knew how to use the sewing machine, it probably would have been quicker but i stitched the whole thing by hand.
i saw a knitting pattern for a garter belt in a book i borrowed from the library, but i completely altered it to fit my needs. i didn't have needles that small, nor did i have yarn that fine.
materials used: light blue yarn creme yarn lace string of pearls -->i was really lucky to find all of the above at an estate sale for uber cheap!!! scissors needle white thread pin cushion
first i cast on a crochet chain of 75 in the light blue yarn. it is a medium weight yarn that i'm sure you can buy at the craft store for a couple bucks. you will want to measure the chain against your thigh now and again to make sure it is a good size. i used my own thigh as a model, however, i found out that the garter is too big for natalia because she has chicken legs!! and i have huge thighs!! wahhhh.
then i single crocheted a row with the same blue. here i switched colors to the creme yarn and double crocheted a row. after that, i crocheted the last row in single crochet.
that was the easy part.
then i sewed both the elastic and the top row of lace onto the back of the garter belt. however, the elastic doesn't serve its purpose so that was futile. next i sewed the string of pearls onto the front of the garter belt. then i decided that another row of lace would look better and i also realized that i should have sewed both pieces of lace at the same time. blah. so i really did more sewing than was necessary. anywho, it turned out very nicely and the best part is that you can customize them however you want. if you would like one for your bride-to-be, i'll charge you $20-30 depending on the materials used. get at me!
