I currently have AT&T. In oder to get emails through work, I must have AT&T and I must have a Blackberry, so I have both. Right now with AT&T I have 900 anytime minutes for $59.99 (with unlimited mobile-to-mobile, nights-starting at 9pm, and weekends). I also have a message starter package for $4.99 which allows for 200 text messages sent or received. I easily go over 900 minutes if I didn't log in to my account online to find out how few minutes I have left.
Metro PCS has an unlimited plan for $45. I would have unlimited text messaging, even to international numbers. And unlimited minutes. The only catch is that if I go outside of
Atlanta (and I have to go pretty far out, probably two hours' drive time any direction from downtown still provides coverage) then I no longer have service. And I think that is okay. I don't go anywhere but Sewanee and it's taboo to have a cell phone there anyway. Although, I do use it when I have it there.
I also have to buy the phone from Metro PCS. $139. Basically, after a year I break even, but I will have had unlimited features during that time for the same price.
[Because I like having email from work come to my Blackberry and having signed a two-year service agreement, I plan to keep the AT&T in service for only the internet use.] I think it will be worth it to have two phones, but I feel like I'm in the 90s when we had a PDA, a cell phone, and an MP3 player.
The last issue is keeping my phone number which I have had since 1997. I want my Blackberry to have a number no one knows and my Metro PCS phone to have my cell phone number I've always had.
