Making it to 50Since I last posted about my adventure of “purging 50
things,” I have, as they say, done some good work. Here’s
what’s been released from my life:
Black leather boots I bought in 2000 and had resoled twice… they’ve
served me well, but last time I wore them, it rained, and my right foot got
soaked… thanks to a hole I hadn’t realized was developing… if they were
timeless and beautiful, they’d be resoled again, but they’re not. So out they
went. They were my staple black boots, so we’ll see whether they get replaced
sometime soon…
I also got rid of sandals I’ve had since 2000.
And a pair of very comfortable and bowling-style shoes from
payless that look a bit like a less than stylish grandma would wear them… the
incentive to release them from my wardrobe came when I saw the exact same shoes
ridiculed on “what not to wear”…
I purged 8 T-shirts and tank tops that have just sat there
taking up space
I purged some never before used make up that I got as part
of a larger package deal (maybe not such a deal after all…)
I happily got rid of a big fuzzy scarf that looks like it’s
trying to be faux fur… but is failing. It was a hand me down, and so now I too
am handing it down…
I purged two pairs of never worn gloves (cute but not warm
enough for the winter) and one stray glove that I’ve kept in hopes of finding
its mate…
Also gone are: 2 tuques 3 value village sweaters (barely worn by me) 1 free passport holder from Blacks 1 zip up hoodie that had nostalgic but little aesthetic or
practical value 1 old suit jacket 2 incense burners 1 large stack of magazines that I haven’t looked at in over
a year… so it’s time for them to go (I kept the four that had cool articles to
which I like to refer come Christmas time)
As for the count, if I lump some of that stuff together, I figure all this brings my purging count from 7 to 27… which is just over halfway there! 23
to go…
Now that we’re moving into our own place, I am even MORE
motivated to purge the unnecessary clutter from our lives…
I think the next challenge will be to organize the things
that stay. I consider myself a generally well organized person, but have a
tendency to “clean up the place” in a hurry and then forget those ingenius
places that I put things… but hey, one
step at a time. |
