  • Team Baja

    Hello Anne

    Marcel was a pleasure to have stay with us. He is a nice young man and was great with my almost 3 year old son who loves people and boys to wrestle with.

    Here is a basic itinerary:

    Friday - Mon (6/27-6/30) They will all be staying with the missionary family (Dave and Jane Crum).

    Monday - Friday (6/30-7/4) They will divide into teams of 3-4 and stay with Mexican host famlies and meet up with the whole 34 member team each day for their work projects.

    Saturday (7/5) This will be a beach day where many of the Mexican host families, church families and families from the US will gather for a day of fun in the sun at the beach in Rosarito.

    Sunday (7/6) After church the group will head down to Ensanada for work, evangelism and some touristy stuff.

    Tuesday (7/8-7/11) They will be back up to Tiajuana on Tuesday through the rest of the week staying with the Crums again.

    They cross the border Friday morning (7/11) around 10:30am or so.  Marcel will fly home Friday evening.

    Hope that gives you some idea. He will have a great time!!

    Blessings,
    Emily

  • Rabbit people

    We're not really rabbit people... yet.  You probably didn't know that there were rabbit people.

    I took my girls to a rabbit show in Stockton today.  That's where the rabbit people go.  They  load up their pedigreed bunnies and take them to be judged according to the Standards of Perfection.  There are people there selling rabbits, buying rabbits, selling cages, water bottles and digestive aids for rabbits.  There's a book on how to massage your rabbit.  There are women with rabbit tatoos on their necks.  In the parking lot, there's a big white van (not mine) with carrots painted along the sides and the names of  favorite breeds stenciled on the windows.

    We also brought our pedigreed rabbits to the show, placing 4th and 7th.  George's hindquaters drop off too precipitously, and Una's head is just not broad enough.  Don't think you can compete with the big dogs, honey.  We bought a new buck and doe, hoping to breed the desired traits into our herd (yes, that's what rabbit people call your bunnies).  We also bought a 2-hole travel cage, but we skipped the book on rabbit masssage.

    See, we're not rabbit people, yet.

  • A favorite Fall poem

    Autumn Poems for Kids - Children's Fall PoetryOctober's Bright Blue Weather

    by Helen Hunt Jackson

    O sun and skies and clouds of June
    And flowers of June together,
    Ye cannot rival for one hour
    October's bright blue weather;

    When loud the bumblebee makes haste,
    Belated, thriftless vagrant,
    And goldenrod is dying fast,
    And lanes with grapes are fragrant;

    When gentians roll their fringes tight,
    To save them for the morning,
    And chestnuts fall from satin burs
    Without a sound of warning;

    When on the ground red apples lie
    In piles like jewels shining,
    And redder still on old stone walls
    Are leaves of woodbine twining;

    When all the lovely wayside things
    Their white-winged seeds are sowing,
    And in the fields, still green and fair,
    Late aftermaths are growing;

    When springs run low, and on the brooks
    In idle, golden freighting,
    Bright leaves sink noiseless in the hush
    Of woods, for winter waiting;

    When comrades seek sweet country haunt
    By twos and twos together,
    And count like misers hour by hour
    October's bright blue weather.

    O sun and skies and flowers of June,
    Count all your boasts together,
    Love loveth best of all the year
    October's bright blue weather.

  • update from xanga

    Hi,

    We *never* allow ads like that on our site - many of our users are under 18
    and, you're right, having ads like that would be completely inappropriate.
    You may wish to edit your Xanga SafeBrowse information
    (http://www.xanga.com/private/editxangasafebrowse.aspx).

    This *may* be an issue on your end, though - please be sure to run a
    anti-spyware program on your computer to make sure it's not a virus. We've
    received similar emails recently, and in each case, it's been because of a
    virus problem on individual users' machines.

    SOOOO, looks like I need better anti spyware something.

  • BEWARE: Xanga getting trashy

    Why does everything have to be rated X?

    I sent this to xanga today, but I'm not expecting much help from them.

    Why am I seeing pornographic images on xanga's home page?  My kids and I have xanga sites and none of us want to see this trashy stuff.  If you don't remove it, we're done with xanga and we'll tell all our friends exactly why.
