| MIA in the ROC! I haven't posted in awhile. Here's the rundown of the past couple months: went back to Philly for a month of relaxataion and catching up, came back to Taiwan and readjusted to another school year, went to Matsu for the 10/10 holiday, and now revving up for Halloween and Stephanie's birthday party! PHEW. A new perm and a dozen DIY felt pins later, I've found a new obsession for making goods and reading.
 Yeah matsu!
i made a doll of myself for my costume as a doll for halloween!
More pictures on flickr! Currently obsessed with Pandora (www.pandora.com), a cool internet radio! Check it out!

I'm about halfway through my trip, and it's been a roller coaster! Traveling alone is liberating and also isolating. I definitely recommend staying in the dorm-style hostels where you can meet and hang out with people. Although I think I'll opt for a traveling buddy next time. It's boring to have no one to talk to or laugh with. Right now I'm in Hangzhou at the West Lake, and it's nothing less than poetic! It's really beautiful. Shanghai was smoggy most of the time I was there, so it was okay. However, I am absolutely in love with Hong Kong! It's sooo international!! More details to come. Suzhou and Beijing next. | | |
| The End.... and the Beginning!
So today was my last day of teaching. I am filled with mixed
emotions. No matter how much grief the kids may give me on a
daily basis, it doesn't compare to the all the fond memories that I'll
look back on. I've also decided to come back to Taiwan for
another year! The plot thickens!! I've actually just
decided this a couple days ago, and I feel good about my
decision. It will give me more time to get set up for whatever I
choose to do in the states. With that said, come visit!
It was especially hard to say goodbye to the baby classes who will be
graduating to the afternoon classes. They've become my children
as I've seen them grow this whole year. I wish they never had to
grow up haha. Even telling Jonathan to be a good boy got me all
misty-eyed. My Apollo class was very sweet and gave me an warm
send-off. There are less tears as I'll be coming back.
People are funny sometimes. A couple months ago, I was dealing
with extreme homesickness and couldn't wait to get back. Then
when it was time to say peace out to everything, it was just as hard to
say goodbye. Well, now it's more like smell you later.
Here's my schedule:
7/3-7/18 - HK, China
7/18-7/22 - Taiwan
7/22-8/22? - U-S-A
End of August - Taiwan
I need to see all you familiar and friendly faces when I go home to America, so lemme know where you're at! HOLLA!

| Comings and Goings
Life is going by quickly on this island, and I have to start
transitioning my life back to the states. It's pretty sickening
the amount of crap that I've acquired (hello kitty everything, clothes,
books, offensive stuffed animals, you name it!) Oh yeah, who
wants to give me a job? :)
Bah. It's one of those nights (i.e. when my classes decide to
make life as hard as they can for me to which I find comfort in a
pudding milk tea afterwards to prep for hours on end of mind-numbing
nothing). Anyhoo, I have about four full weeks left of teaching,
and it's a mixed bag of emotions. I am terrible with good-byes,
but I'm working on not getting too emotional. I yearn for the
familiar (family, friends, TV, etc), but yet I am realizing how much
I'll miss Taiwan (kids, friends, my bike, independence..). I
suppose all good things must come to an end. It's a transient
life.
Two weeks ago, I got a little homecoming in the form of a JBKO
reunion! I got to hang out with Thao, Trang, JH, and Dan... in
Taiwan (pics on flickr)! How incredibly bizarre is that??
We had a great time hanging out and just catching up. Some things
never change, and I was disappointed I couldn't go with them on their
nation-hopping adventures. I can't wait when the adventures start
up again stateside.
Oh yes... my one year anniversary in Taiwan is coming up in a
week. I plan to celebrate with receipt burning and perhaps more
lighting of skylamps. Illa Formosa has been good to me. :)
What plans do you have for when you get back you ask? Let's see:
find a job, win the lottery, get a cat, study and take the GRE, more
traveling (Boston??), hang out, read, pig out... in no particular order. 'Til next time!
