The Beginning Stages Of...

I'll be home tomorrow night.  Jesus, Mary, and Joseph I will be tired.  And I still have the better part of my life to locate and pack before Sunday.  Cool stuff.

Hooray for iPods that finally work!

Hooray for long walks on the beach!

No hoorays for art museums (musea?) that close every Wednesday.  What kind of insanity is that?

I want to make a Dutch version of The Godfather and entitle it Opa.

When you're of the age of majority, legally allowed to vote, to smoke, and to die for your country, and you hang out at a playground at two in the morning, what does that say about you?

One more question, to those who know me well:  why do I enjoy freaking people out so much?  I really do derive amusement from the discomfort of others and play with their insecurities; should I be concerned about this?  (A propos:  tapping straight boys' nuts is fun.)

I'm writing this one from the OC itself . . . my dad's dragged me out to California for the better part of this week.  That leaves me two days in the metro Jacktown area before I leave for Annapolis.  Saturday night:  some serious partying must be done.  Take care, all, and remember -- don't eat the fish.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Book 6)
By J.K. Rowling

Just finished Harry Potter last night. I say. On the whole, I have to confess before the gods and my fellow HP fans that I'm a tad disappointed. But no matter. Book 7 will rock our worlds for sure.

Some comments (If you haven't read the book yet, SPOILER WARNING):

1) To anyone who disagreed with me about Dumbledore's death being necessary, I really don't hate to say I told you so. *gloat gloat gloat* To those of you who agreed, or even embraced the idea before I did, what a way for him to go, eh?

2) Does anyone else now entertain the suspicion that HP is beginning to resemble, if very faintly, Lord of the Rings? Yes, we've all seen the Gandalf/Dumbledore and Sauron/Voldemort bit, but now Harry's really shaping up to be a grand Frodo, Ron an ideal candidate for Sam. Could Hermione represent Rowling's desire to accompany Frodo and Sam on their quest? A bid to include herself in the tale? (If so, I for one say that Rowling is more than welcome.)

3) In accordance with the above parallel, would anyone else not be surprised if Dumbledore were somehow resurrected/reincarnated? At very least, we can expect his portrait to play a powerful role in Book 7.

4) Where is Sirius? What happened to his mirror? (I know what has happened, of course, but are we readers seriously supposed to accept that Sirius' story is over?)

5) Who stole (and, we're led to presume, destroyed) the Horcrux in the cave? If what Dumbledore says is true, we have to assume that TWO people were involved . . . . But who?

6) So, Book 7 will open in the Burrow, proceed to the wedding, and then (probably) to Godric's Hollow (Horcrux possibilities?). LOTR? A cozy, rural setting, a huge celebration, followed by an epic quest . . . .

And we have years to contemplate these things -- and many other mysteries I've neglected here -- before finding the answers! Agh! Alas! Alack!

And now for a more personal note. Let me say for the hypothetical but nonetheless nonexistent record: Between the loss of my cell phone, which is really starting to take a toll, my current family situation (those of you who know, know), trying to make preparations for college, and so forth, my patience with people is wearing fantastically thin. If I'm irritable or short with someone, please forgive me. Do know that I'm working on it. If I've neglected someone, please know that under my current circumstances, trying my patience will not improve my mood or elicit any favorable response from me. I don't expect (or want) pity. Just understanding. And I don't expect blanket immunity for everything I do/say. Just some measure of indulgence. This is not a time to "fight fire with fire" where I am concerned, unless you want to dissolve whatever relationship we currently have. (And, incidentally, if that IS what you want, bear in mind that it takes two to make that choice and be prepared to live with your end of it.)

And to anyone who may be angry with me for any reason (including, perhaps, having written the paragraph above): Your anger is the least of my problems right now, so don't expect me to take notice of it. If you want to move past your anger and resolve whatever situation has caused it, I'm willing to work with you. But if you're not, then don't be disappointed when I disregard your feelings. They are, after all, your feelings, and therefore your problem.

That said, auf Wiedersehen, everyone, and have a marvelous rest of the summer!

Is it possible to die of claustrophobia?

The last time I lost my cell phone, I was almost glad to see it go. This time, I made the mistake of keeping everyone's phone number in that thing . . . and nowhere else. How much does that suck? So, if I haven't called you in awhile, chances are I have no idea how to do so.

Yeah, I'm sitting in front of a New Weblog Entry with absolutely nothing to say. That's how boring my life is. But that's okay. Liar.

Anyone/everyone who reads this, please call me. Or leave a comment. Or e-mail me. I would take the initiative and call you under any other circumstances.

Agh! another_terminal_case out.
