THE PET MEDLEY
my pet turtle's name is john
poor old thing, he's getting on
fell asleep today at noon
he'll wake up next june
got a moose and his
name is bruce and he
stands eight feet tall in his stocking feet
wears a tie painted sky blue pink and
thinks he looks real cute
not an ugly brute
when we go out for tea at three
everyone looks at him not me
so i've been thinking i'll trade him for a
big baboon or a skunk
my pet goose's name is lucy
she is quite handy
when we're riding on my bike
i squeeze her and she honks real dandy
she fancies dancing and old blue cheese
and her only problem is she has no knees!
wanda's a wonderful well brought-up weasel
who'll please you and tease you no end
friday she tidies and bakes apple pies she's
a fabulous wonderful friend
but i was shocked when i unlocked her door
and i found a strange note on her bed
"charlie chinchilla has stolen my heart
and on friday we're going to wed"

| Le chat sur l’étage
lèche ses poils.
Chaque jour le garçon au chapeau noir
vient avec les bouteilles de lait
qu’il laisse devant la porte.
Chaque jour le garçon dit :
Bonjour, petite guimauve!
et le chat gonfle ses fourrures comme un nuage
et le garçon sourit comme il
oublie qu’il doit aller à côté
où le monstre attend avec
les dents qui laissent le rouge
autour de ses jambes.
Le garçon rougit et retourne à
son chariot de lait et
le chat rit et ronronne avec délice!
