    Hullo.

I really didn't mean to disappear. Promise!

I've spent the last 20 minutes reading all the updates from you guys, so here's a wee update from me.

    • ALIVE!
    • hot. ye gods. It's like trying to breath underwater around here. yuck!
    • still carrying on with that lovely man who was flirting with me a few entries ago. Turns out, he likes me a whole lot more than a little bit, too. Not that we have any idea what that really means at this point, and won't until we've spent considerable time face-to-face and not just talking on the phone and exchanging emails with each other. I'm just concentrating on being in the present moment and not over-analyzing things. But he's pretty wonderful, I must say. And I'd be pleased if this turned into something more than a flirtation, frankly.
    • still struggling a bit with the "yeah, but why does he like ME?" thing. ah, low self-esteem. you never really go away, do you?
    • work is a bit crazy right now. lots of currents and sub-currents and people coming and going and shifting. makes me wonder what exactly I'm still doing here, to be honest.

OK, I'm on the front porch and the mosquitoes are eating me alive, along with a selection of some kind of gnat that I don't remember seeing around here before, so I'm headed in.

Hope you're all well. I'm headed up to Philadelphia to visit a friend and see the Treasures of King Tut exhibit, which means that my folks are coming here to puppysit for me, so I must go and tidy up the house.

    OK, bye!

    Important: Public Service Announcement

I've not seen much of this on the news--internet or otherwise--so I'm passing the info along to you. Please pass it along or refer people here, if you like.

There is a MAJOR food recall going on in the US and Canada. So far only 4 people have gotten ill, but this is a dangerous, dangerous situation. The Castleberry company is recalling foods manufactured by them under their own label and under store brand labels for a two year period. These products were improperly cooked, which has enabled the bacteria that causes botulism to survive the canning process. Bacteria are anaerobic, so the longer the products stay in the can, the worse the contamination gets.

FDA inspectors say that they're still finding thousands of these cans on store shelves despite the recall, especially in convenience stores, mom and pop groceries, and other small food markets.

Botulism is serious stuff, people. It's a nerve toxin that can paralyze you in a heartbeat, and if a person gets it, at the very least they'll probably end up on a respirator in ICU for weeks.

Please go to http://www.castleberrys.com/news_productrecall.asp to see the complete list of recalled foods and for instructions on how to dispose of the products if you have them, and for instructions on how to request a refund from the company.

    gakked from Scriveling and the_tramp:

Socialist!? I think I must have missed, or misunderstood, at least one of the political questions. I'm a liberal, and I don't even agree with them half the time. gah!

Also? outgoing?! wha? just because I often strike up conversations with strangers doesn't mean that I'm truly outgoing. it means that I've learned extrovert behaviors and employ them on a regular basis. Also? I'm easily bored and talking to people in line at the grocery store helps to keep me from buying trashy magazines and candy.

Also, the fact that I only get a PG-13 is very disheartening, I must say.

But Becca's right, this was a fun one to take.

    The Everything Test

There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests,     purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all.

Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy

    Personality
You are more emotional than logical, more concerned about others than concerned about self, more religious than atheist, more loner than dependent, more workaholic than lazy, more traditional than rebel, more artistic mind than engineering mind, more idealist than cynical, more leader than follower, and more introverted than extroverted.

As for specific personality traits, you are outgoing (100%), romantic (71%), innovative (71%), religious (67%).

                Politics
Your political views would best be described as Socialist, whom            you agree with around 83% of the time.
                 Socioeconomic
Your attitude toward life best associates you with Upper Class.            You make more than 90% of those who have taken this test,            and 21% more than the U.S. average.

If your life was a movie, it would be rated PG-13.
By the way, your hottness rank is 64%, hotter than 64% of other test takers.

    Becca:

    re: this layout
It's just one of the standard Xanga themes available. I could never get my blog looking the way I wanted it to on my own, so I just went with one of theirs.

thoughts on flirting ... as if I could think about anything else after the past couple of days

October trip to CA is definitely on.

I'm thinking when a man emails you to ask you to pick out a tartan you like, and then to say that he's bought a new kilt in that tartan (because you complimented him on how well he wears the one he already owns) and that he'll be sure to wear it when he picks you up at the airport, this is a pretty fair indication that the man likes you a little bit.

I'm not good at the whole male-female relationship thing, but I'm thinking I'm right about this.

I? like him a whole lot more than a little bit, I think.

I just wish he didn't live 3000+ miles away from me in a part of the country where I couldn't afford to live given my career and likely salary expectations, because that sort of puts a damper on this being anything more than a flirtation, which is lovely and fine, and I'm not complaining, but ... I guess I'm not used to not having the ... "dream of what might be" not include a "happily ever after" and it's throwing me a little bit for a loop.

And in conclusion, I am happily befuddled, and I hope it continues for a good long time.

    Happy Tuesday, taters.
