Recently..

A lot has happened over the week.
Many of it good, so I was pretty happy how it turned out after an intensive week previously.
God has been really good.
I am glad that all things work out for the good of Him. Hallelujah!
The party we organised was pretty successful despite having less than our targeted amount of guests. But at the end of the day, it's not the quantity that matters; it's the quality, right?

It was not an easy journey to begin with, there were a myriad of forces against us. Negative words. Threats. Lack of cooperation. Self-doubt.
Many times we felt small and weak. We even thought of giving up a couple of times.
I seriously felt tested and stretched many times.
Faith. Made us persevere.
For God promised good to all those who believe in Him.
The feedbacks we received were all encouraging and I'm inspired to continue this work we began.
This is indeed just the beginning.
Now, the next step is to follow up, which is always difficult for most.
I just hope that I wouldn't be lazy and have my passion for this to quench.
Not my glory, but God's glory. Yep.

I used to be pretty satisfied that I am able to organise events rather successfully based on my string of projects so far. Yet there were a lot of new things I learned throughout this course of time.
There's still a lot of room for improvement.

Right now, I'm feeling a bit under the weather.
No thanks to the Jusco Members' Day sale at Midvalley Megamall.
It was so packed and stuffy that I got cranky and nauseous.

KL people take their shopping VERY seriously, I realised.
I am sure they actually take a leave of absence from work just to be part of this one day sale! Because it was super packed like sardines on a weekday afternoon.
People were just mad! Rummaging for clothes (the ladies' section was the red zone area), grabbing whatever that's in their size and making a bee-line for the temporary changing room (draped curtains at some corners). There was hardly enough room to walk comfortably in most of the floors and the casher lines were long despite the availability of extra counters.
The least the Management could have done was to turn up the air-conditioning and not play loud, irritating music on the Household Goods floor. Play lar calming, classical music. Hehe.

My manicurist claimed she came to her nail studio at 6.30am, started shopping at 7.00am and it was packed since morning.
People actually started shopping from 7.00am!

So for the next sale, I will come prepared.
Mentally and physically.
Must be at the freshest of state to be part of this battle!
It was seriously like a war zone!
I nearly couldn't get out of the place (not because I wanted to purchase more), but because the entrance was block by human beings pouring in.
I'm from lovely, peaceful Kuching so I obviously had some form of culture shock lar.
I will be fully equipped and ready the next time around. Better to go early too for more variety.

Two of my good friends from home (Kuching the Beautiful), Yin and Kelvin were in town recently.
Got tricked to watch Red Cliff Part 1. Hehe. Just kidding.
Since Kelvin has watched everything else, that was one of our only option (I am not going to spend money watching some typical Malay movie alright).
What's up with Takeshi Kaneshiro's hairstyle? The center parting?!
And someone among us was moaning,"where are the pretty girls?! Why are they shown for only a few seconds?!"
I looked around the cinema, only to realise that it was mostly filled with aunties, uncles, grandpas and grandmas. LoL~
Miss those two heaps. Especially Kelvin since I only see him once a year.
At least I get to meet Yin everytime I go back home, which is about 4 times a year? And phone calls are not very susah to make.

RAENAIIII..... I MISS RAENAI!!!!!!!!
She just turned 22 on the 24th of July! *Huggies*
Miss my hiaw friend!

Stretchy

I seriously feel drained and stretched.
Never before have I organised a party or event where I am doing the work of about 5 people at once.
What's keeping me going right now is the knowledge that all this is not for self-glory, but as an act of worship unto God. To thank Him for all that He has blessed Lee Fuan and I throughout our past 2 years in campus.

These few days have been pretty crazy for the both of us..
Besides having to cope with our studies (3rd year is rather demanding), we are responsible for something which would normally have several people in the organising committee.

Challenges and discouragements constantly corner us left and right as we walk on this journey.
Physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, we are overwhelmed.
But when we retrospect the life that God has blessed us with, the desire to share our lives with our freshmen fuels us to continue.
Our lives may not be perfect. Because we do have our own fair share of regrets and disappointments.
Yet, we believe in empowering, and hoping to inspire our juniors to live lives to their fullest potential and without regrets in campus.
3-4 years would pass by in the blink of and eye, and before you know it, you've reached the end of the journey. I'm still in the middle of the "I-can't-believe-I'm-in-my-3rd-year" period myself.

I don't want to be one of those who look back at their campus life, wishing they could have done more or better. Thus, I hope no one else would as well.

Let Your will be done.

Too tired to think and type anymore.

So goodnight.

P/S: I have new hair! Highlighted it at Peek-a-boo, Bangsar outlet.
OK lar. Quite happy. Except over the price.

All that jazzes..

I was at Bangkok Jazz last Friday evening with a couple of friends for Boplicity was playing live and they sure brought the house down! It was like Charlie Parker and Cannonball Adderley came alive.
Thanks to David Ling, who is now in the International College of Music realising his dream of becoming a professional musician and arranger, for the recommendation.
The drummer was comel lar.. Bagi name card some more.

Julian Chan's Boplicity band

Moi, Sarah & Syikhin

I'm back to living in campus again since the holidays officially ended last Sunday.
I had to move one floor up from my previous location since my stupid phone's alarm didn't go off, thus making me too late to register for the same room or floor even.
The new room is alright but I prefer my previous one, because the showers on this floor aren't as great and the people who used to stay in this room stuck horrible stickers which cannot be totally removed leaving hideous adhesive residues.
Sometimes, I seriously do not understand how some people cannot be good tenants or lab-mates (those dungus who don't wipe off the chemicals in solid form that they spilled at the electronic balance; making a mess when the solids melt).
And also, the wireless signal isn't as strong by one bar.

Insanely expensive, lousy wireless connection.
I can't believe that we have to pay to use the connection just because my block has low access to the free one.
RM40 for a month! It's already on discount since I bought a package. The original price is RM45 for unlimited access. RM30 for a limit of 5Gb a month. Might as well get broadband for RM60 since the connection is faster and more stable.
At present, I can't upload any photos to Facebook.

The price hike in petrol has made many other services in campus increased in price as well!
My launderette now charges RM2.20 per kilo from RM2.00 per kilo.
Chicken rice from one of the Malay stalls increased from RM3.00 to RM3.50!

The only thing that didn't increase is the amount of our loan.

Money is troublesome, yet important and necessary. *Sigh*

Aldo is on sale at 50-70%! Every other store is, in fact.
Bocor lar pocket saya..
My Macbook needs its insurance (Apple Protection Plan), which would set me back by RM700 if I choose to purchase it online rather than from the store in KL, retailling for RM899.
Thanks to Apple Inc. who has been emailing me every now and then to remind me about my complimentary one year guarantee running out.
Argh. Even my own insurance doesn't cost that much!
RM25 a year by Takaful, as required in the university fees - my so-called insurance.
Sometimes, I think my laptop is more whiny, demanding and high maintenance that I am.
It seems to have a life of its own.

Gig-gig, saya suka.

Which music enthusiast doesn't love a good gig?
Live music by musicians who can give a really grand performance is a drug man!
I mean, the good kind of drug. Like Paracetamol or Ibuprofen (take your pick) to a major headache.
Woohoo, take Switchfoot for example. Very cekap! Everyone went home in high spirits.
Quite a number of bands are seriously lousy at live performances, ok?

Sekarang, I want to complain and whine and pout!
That's what personal blogs are for anyway.

When I was living in Kuching, my friends and I used to complain that KL get all the good gigs and that only international musicians that hardly make it come to Kuching (A1 and PlusOne, sorry guys). Although sometimes we may find gems during events such as the annual Rainforest Music Festival (entrance tickets are pretty expensive nowadays, tragic betul) and the Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra (I love period orchestral music!) came once.
So that's about it, I guess.

Although now that I do actually spend most of my time in KL, a lot of good gigs seem to skip Malaysia and sashay off to our neighbours - Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand.
The Philippines is having Lifehouse in July!
Singapore shall be hosting Death Cab For Cutie, Travis and Melee in August for Singfest, where the cheapest tickets cost SGD68 excluding booking fees!

*Pouts*

Owh well..
At least Malaysia is having Daughtry in July and for the month of August, there'll be Passion (yay!), Panic At The Disco (gonna cost an arm and a leg I'm sure), Avril Lavigne, Rivermaya and Jared Leto (doubt he'll be singing since he's hosting the MTV Asia Awards).

So if you're interested in local and regional gigs, More Than Good Hooks is a pretty good source.

Argh.
Lifehouse and Death Cab For Cutie lar please!!!!!!!

Owh and I find random people leaving weird messages for me on a social network utterly irritating.
The latest being:

"Hi, I haven't seen a girl who radiates such a beautiful energy in a while. Hope when in real person also have that energy. But, I don't know unless we get to find out d real person behind that beauty and I wonder what step should we take to find out, what would it be? Sorry if you feel challenged."

*Chokes* *Coughs* *Tries not to regurgitate food*

Dude, what in the world are you trying to achieve???

P/S: I also like some local Malaysian acts yeah. But, I enjoy variety.
