What planet have I been on???

I mean, seriously, where have I been for the last two years?

So much has changed...  I am almost done with my bachelors degree - finally.  I have a resume in at a church, but I'm getting frustrated that I'm not getting any correspondence back...  What does God have in store for me???  I can't wait to go to seminary.  I've been writing papers on that level through my undergraduate - I've been taking John, Acts, Romans, Revelation, Daniel, Genesis, and other Bible intensive classes.  I'm ready to take on seminary.  I still need to talk Amy into letting me get my doctorate.  I joke with her and tell her that all a Masters of Divinity will get you is BROKE!  If God calls me, I'll go.  If not, I hear Amy desperately trying to call me back into reality...  :-O

I love my family so much.  My kids are wonderful, and my wife is the best.  She supports me even when I get hairbrained ideas...  Thanks, hon!

This was taken recently when we were in Florida for vacation with her family.
My inlaws are mighty nifty.  Maybe I'm just odd (yes, already well established, thank you), but I think they're good peeps.  Haha.  I said "peeps".  Werd.

God bless y'all, and I won't get upset if nobody reads this.  After all, it has been forever since I posted.

Blessings on ya.

So Eliana wouldn't put flowers in her hair the last time we had her pictures taken, but a rim to a kid's plate?  Hey, we'll leave THAT in ALL DAY...  What a mischevious little girl!  Sorry to Amy's mom, Kim, for spending so much time trying to get Eliana to get those flowers into Eliana's hair without her pulling them out...

Oh yeah, I also finally got AMY in a picture!  Yay!  I think she's looking GREAT!

Josiah is still calling her "Eli-nana".  It's cute.  Speaking of that, I had a friend whose mother's name was Jesenia.  Of course, it was a latin name, so it was pronounced "yesenia".  He was 18, and somebody asked him what his mother's name was.  He said "Jess-enia".  His sister yelled, "You IDIOT!  Her name is 'YESenia'!"  They argued for a while until his mother assured him his sister was right.  He was shocked, but his mom said she didn't want to correct him because "it was so cute".  Yikes...

Adios!

So, I was reading the USA Today yesterday, and they had a front page article on what's happening in Lebanon and Israel.  The entire article was about how Israel is merciless in their attacks and how the Israelies need to stop this bloodshed.  There wasn't one word about how this whole thing started.  I just don't understand.  USA Today is a hack, just like CNN and the New York Times.  They should get together with Al Jazeera and start a new line of anti-American bias and propoganda.

Let's just ignore that if somebody - anybody - were flying missiles into San Diego or New York, we'd launch an immediate strike on the offender.  Let's just ignore that Israel is surrounded by people who would like nothing more than to see a crack in the door - any chance they can get - to start a war with Israel and wipe them off the map.  And let's not report the full unbiased news.  When somebody called USA Today to complain yesterday, they were told that USA Today has a standard of reporting both sides of the issue, and yesterday was Lebanon's day.  What?!?  So in a child molestation case, do they focus an entire article - front page - on what a good guy the child molester is?  These people would have written an article on Hitler - his humble beginnings, some of his art, and why his plan for Europe just might be in our best interest.  If Hitler had propoganda outlets like the New York Times, CNN and USA Today, we might be speaking German today.

Anyway, enough rant.  How is everybody?  I haven't heard from some people in quite a while.  The only way I can get Mike to write something is to stop posting for a couple of months.  Then he comments to welcome me back.  Sarcastic or not, it's still a comment.  Woo hoo!

Here's a pic of me and the kids...  Amy was taking the picture.  She won't let me take any of her these days...

Abortion...

Hey, I heard a comment just the other day...  This knucklehead told me that God was pro-choice.   I've always been against abortion, and always will be.  If David wrote by inspiration that God wove us together in our mother's wombs, that's good enough for me.  All political garbage aside, if the Bible says it, I believe it.  Good enough.

But still, this person argued that God is pro-choice.  I just about hit him.

Now, this is HIS argument.  I think it shows immaturity and misunderstanding of basic Christian thought.  "Thou shalt not kill"?  It depends on what your definition of "not" is...  And yes, that's sarcasm.

After a minute of bewilderment as to how this fine young individual could have such a lapse in good sense, he explained himself.  God wants to have a perfect relationship with us (1 John 4:19), but maintains our freedom to choose Him or not.  It's still up to us.  So, based on that argument, (that God allows us to sin because to disallow it would be nothing better than forcing people to love you, which is not love), God would, by the most literal sense of the concept, be pro-choice.  God permits us to widen the gap between man and God by sin.  In the most literal sense, God must be pro-choice, because to sin or not to sin is what we must choose.

Hey, I know it's a weak argument.  I know there are ramifications of making such sweeping comments.  However, I was, at a basic level, aware of the relevance of the statement.

Now, politics has drastically changed the sense of the words "pro-life" and "pro-choice", which is what happens when politics and courts get involved.  They jack things up.  But the base of the term "pro-choice" is that people have the right to choose between murder and life.

I would NEVER tell anybody that God was pro-choice.  I thought it was a dumb comment.  God lets us choose, but murder is still murder.  Period.

But it was still an interesting comment.  Unfortunately, I believe it was probably made to further a political agenda...  In addition, it has all the basic underwritings of a cult.  Seriously.  Take a bit of truth (1 John 4:19) and mix it with man's flawed thinking (pro-choice), and conclude that if God lets us choose, and murder is a choice, than God must be neutral about murder.  WHAT?!?

There were a couple of ladies outside a Promise Keepers that I went to holding signs that used bits and pieces of verses explaining that we were sexist and going to hell for going to PK...   So some guys made a sign that looked like this...

"Do not go about spreading slander" (Lev. 19:16)

"about the" (Gen. 21:12)

"Promise" (Gen. 47:29)

"Keepers". (Eccles. 12:3)

"Your" (Gen. 3:5)

"signs" (Numbers 14:11)

"abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits". (1 Tim. 4:1)

I thought it was pretty funny.  They didn't intend to claim that God made references about Promise Keepers, but primarily for laughs.  It made the point.  And the best part was, it cost about a dollar for the cheap posterboard and the sharpie used to create it.

All that to say - even more dangerous than those who oppose the faith are those who have some knowledge of scripture and are following those who wish to deceive...
