Merry Christmas.....

Well today was a big day for me.  Not only did I have my "day surgery" lapriscopic surgery on my right shoulder, but this afternoon they removed my hard cast that has been on my left leg since my knee surgery three weeks ago.   OMG, I feel whole again.  Finally I can take a shower without a cast on one leg, an immobilizer on my opposite side shoulder.  It has been 3 weeks of this crap of not even being able to shower unassisted.  I feel free; I am free.  At last!

Tomorrow I am going to sleep late and then go check into the Marriott here in Nashville.  The Christmas tree will be delivered to my Dad's suite on Wednesday.  We are both staying in town for Christmas and fly to Louisiana the day after I am told.  Several days back in Louisiana and then back here for me and back to D.C. for Dad.

I hope all you guys are enjoying the holidays, enjoying time off from school and have a safe holiday.   To all, Merry Christmas......

scrambled eggs......

Well, school is over for this semester.  I could probably write volumes on the course and direction the semester took.  Suffice to say, it was a roller coaster ride for sure.  There were highs and lows in abundance.  Early in the semester, everything was at a low.  My personal life; my schoolwork.  But miraculously, things began to shift.  Particularly in the schoolwork, and that ended on a high note.  Things are better in my life but I am confused about a lot of things right now.  When I can sort them out, figure out what my life is all about, I will most probably post my thoughts.

I will spend a lot of the holidays up here at school and fly home for a few days I am sure.  I am not certain of what days though.  Just some lingering work I have here in Nashville and then I can address that.  I do want to see the home place and I do want to see my hometown freinds.  Kind of looking forward to going to my old stomping grounds at home, the Wok, Outback and Suburban Gardens.  Good food.  Good times!!

Well, I need to get going.  Gotta get this work done.  I am kind of like scrambled eggs right now, if you know what that means.

Later guys,

I'm back....

Well, it is Monday.  As you may have guessed, I missed all of last week.  Luckily I had prepared videos for Monday and Wednesday.  So now I only have to make up the missed day last Friday.  That won't be hard at all.  Trust me.....

Finally got back last night.  The trip home did me some real good.  My batteries are recharged and I am now mentally ready to finish out this semester.  To quote granddaddy, "take her on in". So that is what I will do.

The bone did splinter but that may in the end be a good thing or certainly not as bad as anyone would have thought.  The hard cast they put on my leg totally immobilizes the surgical site, so that is good in my opinion.

So I am back up here with plenty of meds.  So things can't be all bad can they?  LOL

Gosh it is pretty cold.  I am just not accustomed to this brrrrrrrrrrrr cold.  I can only imagine what the Missouri boys must be doing.  Freeazing their balls off I am sure.....LOL

I do not have any earth shaking news other than the obvious, I am back........

Welcome home....

Well, the knee surgery was on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving.  Needless to say, I spent the rest of that day and most of Thanksgiving Day asleep.  They got me up  on Thanksgiving Day to walk some for circulation purposes they said.  Unfortunately that appears to have been a mistake.  I stayed in recovery a whole day and was sent to the Orthopedic Therapy ward thereafter (not a private room, ugh!).  Anyways, Sunday the knee began bleeding which prompted one of the doctors to send me to X Ray and there they discovered one of the leg bones was splintering.  So Dad decided enough was enough and brought me back home by private plane yesterday.  I will get to see the Orthopedic Surgeon that did the previous surgery for a second opinion to decide what to do about the splinter bone.  It will be ok I know.  And.....OMG, it was so good to get to sleep in my bed again.  It has been so long.  And to see Edith, our housekeeper that raised me.  Yesterday and so far this morning, it is like being a pampered little kid again.  I needed this badly.  Gosh I really miss this place; I miss Edith.  I miss my childhood and guess I didn't realize just how good I had it.

Well I am off to the docs office.  Hopefully, I will be going back up to Nashville on Thursday.  So, twice in one week, it will be welcome home....

Be good guys,

~~Trey~~

Gobble gobble.......

This is Tuesday afternoon.  Tomorrow morning early, I have to show up at the Medical Center for my knee surgery late morning.  And it is radical knee surgery at that.  The fourth on this particular knee.  The result of an old football injury, I have given up thinking they will fix it permanently.  But at age 22, I just do not want a knee replacement.  I am just not ready to concede.

I don't know for sure how long I will be hospitalized.  Several days to a week is what I am told.  I know I will barely know I am on this earth when all of you are celebrating Thanksgiving Day with your family, friends and loved ones.  It doesn't really matter, I don't like to eat Turkey anyway.  But I do like cornbread dressing.  Maybe somebody will save me some.  And hopefully, I will be up on my feet walking the hospital halls by weeks end.  If that happens, I will consider this whole thing a success.

You might remember that this was the surgery I was to have during the Christmas break.  But things worsened, and time became an issue.  So instead of my shoulder surgery which pales by comparison to what I am about to endure, I will have the knee surgery.  Sometime thereafter, I will have the shoulder surgery done.  But that will not be nearly as tough, kind of in and out, just a bit more than day surgery.

School is going great.  Oh and did I tell you?  I have recorded lectures for next Monday and Wednesday on DVD for all my classes.  So, though I will be absent, my DVD can be played for the classes and they can take notes and not miss a good day of class.  By doing so, I do not have to make up these two class days.  It is a win-win situation for not only me, but all my students.

Enough of all this, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday.  Eat a lot and rejoice in the companionship of whomever you are with.  I will post again when I am coherent enough to put some thought processes together. Remember this holiday is about more than just gobble gobble.

Later guys,

~~Trey~~
