One Page Essay on “Being Well Groomed”

          Being well groomed is not only something you should do because “your parents told you to,” but it should be done because it has a greater meaning, a more sophisticated meaning. It means that the way you look can show how you acted and how you feel about yourself. That meaning lies deep in you and gives everyone its diversity. Your appearance is closely observed by the people around you therefore, they will judge you by it. Technically, the way you look should not be deceiving, but it is the impression you give from the simple things that makes who you are.

Grooming is a simple task that can be done with simple effort but can only be done consistently by those who have responsibility and just from being well groomed you get the characteristic of responsibility. Therefore, proves how once simple task can make you look dreadful and irresponsible or sophisticated and responsible in the bigger picture. Looks do look deceiving and thus you must strive for a great impression upon those who look upon you. It is not until after they talk to you and learn who you really are. The impact from your outward appearance can damage the person’s perception of you causing you to be tainted with a certain uncomfortable feeling or reaction. It is not the fault of the beholder who is looking upon you that he or she gets an impression of an unpleasant individual; it is the fault of yourself who has not took the time to care for ones own grooming. I, myself need to be well groomed.

          Doing this essay has made me realize the importance of grooming. I now realize how many positive outcomes can result from one simple task in addition add a more positive outcome to my future. As I think of it, receiving smiles or any form of positive acknowledgement builds up myself esteem and therefore makes me a better person as a whole. A well groomed individual would surely receive much more positive acknowledgement and conversations from their peers than a poorly groomed individual. It is clear to me now that a little effort, for a little task, has a BIG outcome.
