Rainy Day

It's raining today, and we are glad.  Our new grass is getting a good soaking, and my husband, who has taken on the job of watering, can have a day or so off.

In other news, Bree Cat has been very nice to Judy Dog and Ella Baby.

Ella is getting almost too big for a sink bath.

A very clean Ella and her mommy.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.  We'll go to church tomorrow morning, and then to my middle son's for his 40th birthday party.  It's hard to believe it's been that long since he was born at Bata in the Central African Republic.

Pogo Update

The 3 bats are talking among themselves.  I think their names are Bewitched, Bothered and Bemildred.

"What we ought to have is presidental elections ever year like the World Series.
But it takes a lot of worryin an schemin an speechin an thinkin.
What of it? We kin worry about anything.
True, true...an we kin scheme.
An we kin make any kind speeches.
An when it comes to thinkin, why, shucks, uh, yes, well, hum, hoo, ha......
Well, anyways we kin worry good
An scheme an speechify.
Let's git into politics."

Moving Day

Moving Day went well.  It rained hard in the morning, but stopped before 10 am.
The kids and I had fun.....................

playing.................

coloring.................

eating mulberries...............

and shelling (and eating) peas.
The next day was the summer family birthday party.  Here is a picture of the birthday people (except for the baby, hers isn't until Sept.)

I took the next picture because their clothes are so well-coordinated.

The last picture is of the new addition to our family, Judy, my mother's dog.

Quotes and Pictures.

Quotes:
"Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart.  Wait, I say, on the Lord."
Psalm 37:14.  The Bible.
"This lemonade would be better if it had a little sugar in it to make up for not having any lemon."  Walt Kelly, from one of the Pogo books.
"And hand in hand, but the edge of the sand they danced by the light of the moon, the moon, the moon, they danced by the light of the moon."  Who remembers what poem this is from?
Pictures:  These are of our county fair.

One of the parking lots.  This one I think is for the 4H people.

I didn't take any pictures of the bigger animals.

The tractor is from the 20's, a bit older than we are.

My once a year cotton candy treat.  I prefer it on a stick, not in a bag.

My favorite ride, but I didn't go on it this year.

The Good News Caboose, telling children the good news about Jesus.

I used to love ferris wheels.  We had a double one at the Pike in Long Beach.

See the moon up high?

We had fun.

We're still unpacking and putting away.  So far things are going well.  We had rain today, and were glad, because of our new grass.  Yesterday I went to the local Farmers' Market, and bought a humongous lettuce, and an equally large onion, and some other things.  We have 2 picnics this week, and the County Fair is on too, so we'll be busy.  A nice kind of busy though.

Produce from Farmers' Market

Does anyone know what that is hanging from the eaves?  I'm afraid it's a wasps' nest, and it's going to be hard to reach to spray, although maybe we can spray it from the window.  It's up very high.

I think this is a baby woodpecker.  It was trying to fly, but could only get 2 or 3 feet off the ground.  It finally hopped behind the tree, and we didn't see it anymore.  Hope it made it.
