  • Here comes Summer...

I've been slowly decorating for summer - today I did the mantle.

I put up a few lighthouses and nautical things, fish, birds, and of course, the obligatory Aruba photo!

And yes, I know that double frame on the wall is empty.    It will soon be home to two photos from NY, but I can't decide which ones yet, so it's empty for now.  LOL

  • A day off work...

I had my yearly eye appt this morning to get some more contacts - my prescription didn't change again - sooo cool.  For the longest time, my eyes would just get worse and worse, but they leveled off about 5 years ago and haven;t gotten any worse since.  yay!  Orderd a new kind that are supposed to be for allergy eyes.  We'll see.

When I got home I got started on making my little vegetable garden.  Even though it's small, it was a lot of work because I had to remove all the sod first.  Gah!  My back hurts.  I planted six tomato plants, 3 pepper plants, and 1 cilantro 'bush'

Now to patiently wait 3 months for some nummy fresh tomatoes!

  • Trish - RYC - Yes, Pudge is still a big hairball.  LOL  In fact, I think he keeps getting bigger!

Everyone that sees him for the first time always says, 'wow, what a cat!'

Here he is in his favorite room of the house, the screened-in back porch...

I remember posting ages ago that I was going to post a picture of the outside of the house, but I never did.

Here's my little house and my little backyard:

  • Photos From NY & CT

I got all my pics uploaded last night.

    http://avalonman.dotphoto.com

There's a folder for New York City Sight Seeing Piccys, CT Sight Seeing, and of course RM.

I didn't take any pics at Westbury because they used to be such huge camera nazis that I didn't even bother bringing it in from the car... little did I know that they now allow photography... I asked if I could go out to the car, but they said there is no re-entry.  I guess now they are exit door nazis.  LOL

Oh well, it was fun just to sit and enjoy the concert without worrying about snapping pictures.

The Tubes concerts were fantastic.  I didn't realize that Fee did all these different wardrobe/character changes during the shows - it was hysterical!  The butt-less chaps character was a bit too much though.  lmao!

I had a fantastic time in NYC seeing the sites - I will definitely be going back to see more of the sites.  I'd like to spend a long weekend just getting on and off the double decker tour bus seeing all the stops.

I'll post more later this week - I'm at work right now and just got caught up on my paperwork so I thought I'd jot a few thoughts down.

  • My Vacation Is Finally Here!

I'm on vacation this week! yay!

Today, I've been doing laundry and cleaning house, getting ready for the trip. I have 6 loads of laundry... OMG! It's been a while since I've been downstairs. After the house is in order, I might piddle around in the yard this afternoon - it's 75 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Tomorrow I'll need to pack and make sure everything is in order, then make myself go to bed early. My flight leaves Knoxville at 5:30 am wed! I'll need to get up about 3:30. :-o I'm getting really excited now. The last time (and only time) that I was in NYC, I didn't get to see or do anything. this time, we are going to walk our asses off and see as much as we can. I got a new camera just for the occasion... it's really small so i can keep it in my pocket instead of lugging my big concert camera everywhere.

Anyway, back to the plans... Wed morning, as soon as we get off the plane, we're dumping the bags off at the hotel and heading up to 98th street, then walking our way down. Wed night we're going to see the Tubes in concert at BB King's Club in Times Square. Thursday morning is more sight seeing and possibly the ferry ride out to Lady Liberty. In the afternoon, we'll catch the train to westbury and meet up with everyone for the RM concert that night - I think we're all going to dinner before the show. After the show, we're all piling into Jill's van and heading to CT for the Mohegan Sun shows... Fri & Sat will be spent at the casino, hanging out with everyone and taking turns sitting in line all day... I really wish they'd sell tickets - I love the MS concerts, but that all-day-line crap gets old. Sunday we're going to do some CT sightseeing and find a lighthouse... my flight to return home doesn't leave Hartford until almost 6pm!

Those that are going to be at westbury and want to meet up before the show for dinner, give me a call - my number is still the same. I think we've decided on TGIFridays since they have something for everyone.

I'll post some pictures when I get back... TTFN

  • Taco Soup

I made this at work and everyone went wild.  It's not as heavy as chili, but has a kick to beat the winter blahs.

2 pounds hamburger, browned & drained

    1 yellow onion, chopped

2 cans chili style pinto beans (Bush's or store brand)

2 cans of corn (do not drain)

    2 cans diced tomatoes

    1 can Rotel tomatoes

    1 "can" water

1 pack Taco Seasoning Mix (I think Ortega is best)

    1 pack Ranch dressing mix

Combine all ingredients and simmer for 30 mins to 1 hour.

  • Just popping in...

OK, how AWESOME was the new Knight Rider last night?  OMG!  Instant favorite new show!  Of course, I watched the original all the time when I was a kid, so I might be biased.

Oh, and don't even talk to me about the race.  Ugh!  I wanted to throw something through the tv!

To end on a positive note:  JERICHO'S BACK!    Tamm, are you watching?    Oh yeah, and so is Survivor!

OK, this blog totally turned into a page from TV Guide, but I don't have much else to say.

Very cool! I might have to get me premium one of these days. I'm just so cheap I can't see paying $25 a year for something I can get for free! LOL
