How do you like the 'new look'? I have had the same look since I joined back in 2002! Back then, it was hard as hell to put anything on your site and I had to have fellow Xangan Leeeessa do it for me. Ever since then I've been pertrified to even try to change it. This really cool layout came from Pimp-My-Profile. Sorry Xanga but your skins pale in comparison. And now you can all see how well I've aged since 2002
As you could tell from my last post, I've been busy. I've gotten into the soap making as well as the jewelry business. And do you know how difficult it is to find Lye?! Now you just can't run to the local A&P for a can of it. NOW you have to print off and fax a Haz-Mat form and then you have to sit on your hands and wait for the stuff to arrive ground mail. Of course that is if they don't have to backorder it and don't you dare order more than 3-2lb. cans. Logically I know that because of 9-11 that buying caustic chemicals is more than just a slap on the hand but jeez. I'm just making soap for crying out loud. And they'll sell you lye soap just not the stuff to make it with. The grand total of places I could find that would sell it....5!
Then there is the molding and packaging of the stuff. All...I...wanted...was a couple of cheap plastic containers that were long and short in height and of heavy plastic to use as soap containers to make bars. You know, just to cut my own. Nope. Just tall, squatty and so thin that I could practically shove my forefinger through the sides. And you wouldn't believe the expense of thin plastic containers these days. No $2-3 jobbies; just the $8-12 ones!
Then I looked for small plastic jars with screw on lids for the bath salts, bath glows, etc. No such luck. I can get $8-a-piece stackable jars from South Africa but no cheapie plastic jars. Walmart, Target, KMart nor Dollar Store(both types) carry these items. I ended up hunting down a website that actually sold this stuff and started hitting garage sales for plasticware to make the soap in.
I guess I can't call Walmart the King of Cheap Plastic Stuff anymore. More like King of the Cheaply Made But Expensive As Hell Plastic stuff.
