Click to listen while you read.

It has been said that our gift as humans is that we may experience death, an end to our time time in this world. A beautiful proclamation, but is it a valid one?

As I get ready to take my last month-long leave from Ithaca, the place I have for three and a half years called my second home, its meaning has become much more apparent to me. For most of our lives, we do not take the time out of our busy, self-centered schedules to consider the importance of every moment that passes. We forget our tears, take our laughter for granted, and fail to revel in the joy of our lives. Each passing day represents a clean slate, and we disappear into the shadowy depths, consumed with writing the story of our lives.

I have watched many people graduate and move on to continue with their lives; they take with them the opportunities for any additional time spent together, and the memories I possess are all that I have to keep. It's often easy to express excitement for leaving this place, citing the horrible weather and rigorous academic standards. However, the truth remains - despite all of its faults, this place has brought people together to experience and share a time we will never forget.

Our slow but steady migration from here is similar to death, as it is also an end to a time in our lives spent together. As I see people leave, and I get ready to depart once again, it saddens me to know that I am watching the end of our era here. People seek different paths, and we have only our memories to take with us. The end to this time, a time that previously seemed neverending, has given us the ability to cherish and appreciate the memories of our time together.

All good things will end, but it is up to us to cherish and live on with our memories.

Bone Thugs 'N Harmony ft. Akon - I Tried

I tried so hard, can't seem to get away from misery,
Man I tried so hard, but always be a victim of these streets,
It ain't my fault cause I, try to get away but trouble follows me,
And still I try so hard, hopin one day they'll come and rescue me.

But until then, I'll be posted up right here rain, sleet, hail, snow (hail snow)
But until then, I'll be posted up right here with my heat gettin dough (gettin' dough)

ATLANTA
just what i needed

Wednesday, March 28, 2007

Thanks to everyone who came out for Lambda Phi Epsilon's 2007 East Coast Brotherhood Rally. Good memories, good times, and props to the amazing AA-Cornell combo for pulling through when it mattered.

---------------------------------

I thought I would be tired after two trips to New York City, one back home to Atlanta, spring break in the Bahamas and ECBR at Binghamton, but I was wrong. It's off to Philly this weekend. Pictures later.

---------------------------------

It's almost ridiculous how this semester has gone by so fast. It really only seems like yesterday when our campus was overrun by recruiters, supported by a legion overzealous and caffeinated students; yes, I was one of them. Now we have less than two months of school left, and it's hard to believe that it's now "three down, and one final year to go." Let's make this last stretch a memorable one.

---------------------------------

With understanding comes peace of mind and an end to a restless heart.

And I can't get that Glamorous song out of my head... damn you Fergie.

Spring Break 2007

Wednesday, February 28, 2007

An interesting read, if I may say. It is obviously flawed in so many ways, but it's surprising how a magazine like AsianWeek with a circulation of over 40,000 would publish something as crass and ignorant as this.

Thank you Kenneth Eng. Thank you for enhancing our already strained relationship with the rest of the ethnic minorities. I actually enjoy getting racially persecuted and discriminated against on a daily basis; it's never a good day when I miss my daily dose of "ching chang chong" sound effects and William Hung impersonations.

Ignorant article? Yes. But really - did you have to make it even worse and convey your ignorant thoughts in such a stupid fashion? You can argue your freedom of speech, but I know you sure can't argue your freedom to write at a 3rd grade level.

Let's take a look.

Why I Hate Blacks

Kenneth Eng, Feb 23, 2007

Here is a list of reasons why we should discriminate against blacks, starting from the most obvious down to the least obvious:

• Blacks hate us. Every Asian who has ever come across them knows that they take almost every opportunity to hurl racist remarks at us.

In my experience, I would say about 90 percent of blacks I have met, regardless of age or environment, poke fun at the very sight of an Asian. Furthermore, their activity in the media proves their hatred: Rush Hour, Exit Wounds, Hot 97, etc.

• Contrary to media depictions, I would argue that blacks are weak-willed. They are the only race that has been enslaved for 300 years. It's unbelievable that it took them that long to fight back.

On the other hand, we slaughtered the Russians in the Japanese-Russo War.

• Blacks are easy to coerce. This is proven by the fact that so many of them, including Reverend Al Sharpton, tend to be Christians.

Yet, at the same time, they spend much of their time whining about how much they hate "the whites that oppressed them."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Christianity the religion that the whites forced upon them?

• Blacks don't get it. I know it's a blunt and crass comment, but it's true. When I was in high school, I recall a class debate in which one half of the class was chosen to defend black slavery and the other half was chosen to defend liberation.

Disturbingly, blacks on the prior side viciously defended slavery as well as Christianity. They say if you don't study history, you're condemned to repeat it.

In high school, I only remember one black student ever attending any of my honors and AP courses. And that student was caught cheating.

It is rather troubling that they are treated as heroes, but then again, whites will do anything to defend them.
