currently post-call....after working 36 hours (luckily not continuously as i manage to sleep 1 + 0.5 + 2 hrs)

performed my second BMA+trephine...still tremor a lot during the procedure...hope the poor por por would have less pain soon...

have been seeing a lot in the ward...

a middle-aged women deconditioning quite significantly after start of chemo...

an old old husband of an old woman came to see her everyday...the patient was stroke and GCS only 6...unable to respond....and after knowing this his wife may not have any chance to recover...he was sooo disappointed and helpless. ai.

a lot of important things in one's life happen from time to time in the ward...

i don't really know what to say... i just want to write down some feelings of mine.

hope everything goes fine.

Work

finally i'm offically working... as an intern in QMH.

Acutally i think the work i do everyday now is very similar to what i've learnt during medical school, only that you have much more trivialities to deal with, such as printing labels, filling in forms, doing ECGs...

and my drip setting skill is going on a down-hill trend during this week...i don't know why..but my failure rate has climbed up to almost 100% during this week...and that really bothers me. hope i can set the drips right later on.

work has been fine. the nurses are nice and they work very efficiently. Hopefully i could adapt better la.

Pre-internship

I just had the first day of pre-internship which was a call day. I was assigned to ward E3 and while for night call ward E3/B1. The people in these two wards are really nice. But we won't know which ward we're going to work till later.

The housemen were very nice too! They let us do all sorts of things - venepuncture, drip, arterial blood, ECG, printing labels, admission, etc. etc. Being a houseman has much more to do then I had expected -- it's not about how much medicine you know, but really, how careful you are and how tough you could be. Working alone at night is quite a stressful experience, as you need to deal with everything on your own FIRST, of course at the end of the day you still have your MO as back-up.

um.

This is really a challenging work, hope we can all adapt to it quickly and safely.

Graduation Dinner

finally! the graduaiton was held at Renaissance Harbour View Hotel, Concord Room. It was a fabulous night. Every one was dressed up gorgeously and for some I can't even recognize properly at first sight. (!) All girls looked soooo pretty! and all boys too, they looked very nice!

Taken many pictures with my classmates, but it's a pity that i didn't have much with the teaches as many of them left quite early.  but anyway, we all had very happy time walking around, grabbing people to take pictures and chat a lot too!  the food was very nice too, with my favourite Haagen Daz ice-cream.

the programme was quite good too! We first had speech delivered by Prof. Ricky Man, Dominic, Prof. Patil, then we had the dinner, then lucky draw with gifts to everyone. Andrew made us a standing comedy which is sooo funny! haha. tho i don't have much idea who he's imitating :p. Then we had a performance by Tony, Carol and Charmine, second lucky draw (top price was an iPod touch!), and a performance by Christina. They all did their performance very very well!

The grad book is good too! i spent the night reading and reading it over. There're lots of pictures which remind us of our days in med school. the articles were interesting too!

and the souvenir bag...lots of pens and little equipment for our internship -- i found 10 tourniquets there!

let's enjoy the 2 weeks left and prepare ourselves well for the upcoming challenge!
