So I've been MIA again. Frankly, blogging is just not capturing my attention. I think it's because I've been working so much, I have too much other things around the house that constantly need to be done. A few more weeks and school is out, so I should be back to play more frequently then. Sorry I haven't been getting around much. I'll catch up I promise. Until then, here's some late breaking news from the home front:
Been subbing every day, that's been good and bad
The bad is, that Monday some emotionally disturbed second grader hit me - got me a good one on the arm
The really bad, I had to sub in his class again on Thursday, and I still had marks from Monday!
The good, Friday was an awesome day with a fantastic class of 5th graders -- I think I'm revising my favorite grade....
The really good, MONEY-MONEY-MONEY!
Put in some more resumes, no permanent classroom yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed
Ducky finally had success and landed a job, it's in fast food (which she didn't want, but it's experience and a paycheck).
Squirt will from now on be referred to as Lady Bug. (a nicknamed derived from a nickname given to her by her sister eons ago)
Lady Bug gave me a beautiful pottery bowl for Mother's day which she earned volunteering at Project Share
Ducky made me a beautiful rosary
Hubby took us to Texas Roadhouse and a movie for Mother's Day
Iron Man was excellent - fyi - stay after the credits!!
We paid off the escape and now own outright all three vehicles.
Hubby is negotiating to sell his silver BMW
This would allow us to get a different car for either Ducky or me, preferably one a little higher (hey, we're little, what can we say?) and one with working AC
The Cooler in the house got turned on (Evaporative cooler, or swamp cooler) and I'm loving the cooler sleeping temps.
We may have found a church we like
I can't believe that Erik is such a dolt, he officially wins the dumbest Survivor ever award, bumping James to second dumbest.
Alright, Enough bullets, I'm bored with myself, and off to check my plants (Plant Tycoon). Have a great night everyone, and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!
I've spent the majority day cleaning in preparation of my MIL's arrival. Besides that it's just nice to have the house clean. It's been destoryed pretty much all week with me working every day. It's been a busy 3 weeks but the NMELPA (New Mexico English Language Proficiency Assessment) is finished! Woot! Now if I can just get some sub jobs for the next 3 weeks, I'll be good to go. I forgot to tell you all, I emailed the licensure bureau after they screwed up my license, a very polite email (their requested method of communication) about who I am, what my problem was and all the pertinent details. I gave them all the specifics and then thanked them for their helped and signed my name. I got back a very abrupt 2 line email with no greeting, no signature, just a you're wrong get over it type message. This, not surprisingly, royally pissed me off. I emailed back with a semi-snotty email pointing out in specific detail why I was indeed right and they were morons who were unable to count to 3 and 1/2. I again signed my name (but left off the cordial closing) and have been waiting for a reply. I was about ready to find a higher up to start emailing (cc the licensure bureau each time) when I finally received a reply. It again was only two sentences, however they were:
I apologize. It has been corrected.
And it was signed this time by the assistant director of the licensure bureau. That's what I'm talking about! So I should be getting my Level II which will improve my starting pay and make it easier for me to get a job (as it shows I'm experienced). Score one for the good guys!
Now, I'm going to do some writing challenges tomorrow, and I have to go in a few minutes because my MIL is in town for the night, but I had to come by and let you guys in on some more good news. Remember (if you bothered to read) last post when I talked about who I wanted to see, and hoped they would tour. Guess what???? August is Black Sabbath month for me! They are touring under the moniker Heaven and Hell and just released a new live album, Heaven and Hell Live. Heaven and Hell is my all time favorite Sabbath album, so I'm stoked! Ronnie James Dio is back with them, fronting the band. It my youth rocker trifecta. Pretty dang cool!
Alright, I'm off to visit with my MIL, but I'm coming back tomorrow to do writing challenges and to visit (I got around to a few folks, and may get around to a few more tonight).
Rush was amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed the show! Rush is one of my all time favorite bands. Growing up my three favorites were Rush, Black Sabbath and Scorpions. I loved all the good rock of the 70's - Clapton, Floyd, Hendrix (ok and the 60s) but my heart belonged to Rush, Sabbath and Scorps. So I've seen Scorps and Rush, now if only Sabbath would tour, of course, I loved them back in the Ozzy days, but they were good with Ronnie James Dio too..... I'd go no matter, I never got to see Sabbath when I was young, so I'd take any opportunity to hear them live.
I'm including some videos, if you're not really a rocker, watch the first part of the first one (with the South Park Intro) which they did at the concert -- TOO FUNNY! For those who don't know Rush, they have a song called "Tom Sawyer" - the South Park Take is pretty interesting. Then I'm including a video of Neil's drum solo (which is quite long) for one reason ---- it was AMAZING!!! Angie, I thought you would get a kick out if for sure, being a drummer's mom and biggest fan, and a die hard rocker to boot.
I was tired today, but it was worth every yawn!!!
Tom Sawyer South Park Style...
Neil Pert's amazing solo.
*edit* OK, AI is pissing me off. I think Brooke keeps getting better, and Jason worse. He should have gone home a long time ago and Carly and Michael Johns should STILL be there. Argh...... ticking me off. I think Brooke and Seyesha should have gone before Michael and Carly. :rolls eyes: What are these people thinking???
Question of the Day:
What 1 band / performer would you go see if you ever got the chance that you've never been able to see?
Well I've finally done it. I went to DMV one more time and decided to try to get my NM driver's license. If you remember last time I couldn't prove I lived in NM. Since they ticked me off, I've been passive aggressive about getting my license. Since I couldn't prove I lived here, I figure they couldn't prove I lived here either, so therefore - no need to get a license. Made sense right? OK, so in truth, I knew I was in the wrong and eventually drug my butt back to DMV for another round of abuse and torture.
Today must have been my lucky day however, as it took all of about 15 minutes to get my license and now I'm officially legal. Hooray right?
Job fair on Saturday was so/so. Supposedly I'm going to be called for interviews this week. We'll see. I certainly hope so. Of course they say that they do more hiring in the month of August then in all the rest of the months combined, so I'm holding out hope.
Well I've been really busy. And tomorrow is the Rush concert. So I will hopefully be around more later on this week. Have a good week everyone!
What a week it's been. The school from Friday continued to be a night mare for both Monday and Tuesday, but we did get all the testing done there. The rest of the week has been pretty good really, fairly organized, quick, painless and friendly people. Some asked what kind of testing we were doing, we are administering the oral or speaking portion of the NMELPA - which is the New Mexico English Language Proficiency Assessment. Basically it's to determine whether students from backgrounds that have other than English home languages, still require or require English Language Services or whether they have developed fluency. Many of the schools we've been testing at are dual language schools, so most of the kids are pretty fluent. It has been keeping me pretty busy. Add to that two teenagers who I can't convince need to clean up after themselves, a hubby that is out of sorts and requiring some extra TLC, two cats, a dog and partridge and a pear tree... and you have quite a week. Not bad mind you, just ... hectic.
Top that off with it's too warm to sleep comfortably and we haven't had the cooler switched on and you get .. whew.
This weekend is one of the job fairs I'm attending, and I'm hoping that it goes well.
Ducky lost her car keys today, not lost as in "oh no where are my keys" but lost as in "you get to walk for a week". See she's supposed to call if she's not planning on coming straight home. I'm not sure how many times we've gone over this. A dozen perhaps. None the less, I got home at 4:30 today and hmmmm...... where is Ducky? Nowhere to be found. So, she walks or catches rides for a while. Hopefully she'll opt to be a little more responsible in the future. Either that or she should invest in a bus pass. Muawhahahahahahhahaaaaa........
Not much to say, disappointed in the AI results last night, and week before last too. Although I thought Seyesha did better this week, overall Carly has way out performed her in my opinion. But hey, what do I know? I thought Jason Castro should have been the one going home.
Tonight is Survivor and last week I was bummed to see Ozzie go, but he had an out, he was just too sure he didn't need it. Oh well. The way I see it though, Cerie and Parvati can't win now, because they just alienated all of the jury by backstabbing the alliance. But hey, I though Jason Castro should go home so what do I know right? LOL I know, I know -- reality tv, what can I say? It's my guilty pleasure! Besides crime shows like NCIS, CSI and CSI NY, Criminal Minds -- and lately have been enjoying House. Oh yeah and New Amsterdam. Thank goodness for DVR, otherwise we'd never get to see them all!
Alright, I'm outie --- I'll drop by tonight to visit.
