Nothing but Sheeps...

Trends are a funny thing.  I don’t care about most trends, but one particular one irks me.  That trend is the cellphone trend.  Remember the Nextels?  Sure you do, some of you still have it.  I remember at the beginning of Nextel’s days when it was purely a business tool.  It was used by businesses because it was a good means of connecting to someone immediately.  That’s what it was, a business tool.  Then all of a sudden it became the cool thing to have and next thing you knew, everyone and their dog had a Nextel.  Everyone would admit that half the time you were just guessing what the other person said through the CB.  Yet you were willing to pay the high prices for bad service because it was the “it” thing to do.

Now it seems it’s the blackberry’s turn.  Again to the many that think this is a cool thing to have.  IT IS A BUSINESS TOOL.  If you’re considering a blackberry, please ask yourself these questions.

1.  Are you so important that you have to answer every email, every minute, every hour, every day of the week?

2.  Is it the norm for people around your professional level to carry a blackberry?

3.  Is this more for personal use or professional use?

Let’s get one thing straight here.  No one should be getting a blackberry purely for personal use.  It is not a status thing.  Blackberry’s are not anymore expensive than any other phone, nor is it good looking.  In fact, it is fucking ugly.  You do not look more “corporate” or “professional” with a blackberry when all you use it for is instant messaging and brickbreaker.  If you are in a position that needs a blackberry then your employer should be the one providing it.  It is called a “corporate leash” for a reason.  They pull, you bark.  So when someone gets a blackberry, please don’t fucking say, “They’re so lucky!”  A blackberry is not a toy.  It is not a fashion accessory.  It is not an image enhancer.  Don’t fool yourself.  You know damn well whether or not you need one.

Do You Have What It Takes To
Solve This?

Japanese Interview Question

<
http://freeweb.siol.net/danej/riverIQGame.swf>

Here are the rules to the game.

Click on link, and then click on the big blue circle. Use the rules below.

This is going to do your head in, but it can be done.

Apparently this is an IQ test given to job applicants in Japan:

"Everybody has to cross the river".
The following rules apply:

* Only 2 persons on the raft at a time
* The father can not stay with any of the daughters, without their
mother's presence
* The mother can not stay with any of the sons, without their father's
presence
* The thief (striped shirt) can not stay with any family member, if The
Policeman is not there
* Only the Father, the Mother and the Policeman know how to operate the
raft

To start click on the big blue circle on the right.
To move the people click on them.
To move the raft click on the pole on the opposite side of the river

I am a Media Whore

Yes, that's Sarah Jessica Parker and Mandy Moore.  Cynthia Nixon showed up as well but later on.  This was at the Conde Nast party at Buddha-Bar.  Very very hot place.

Rants and Thoughts

Human beings are such funny creatures.  We all think we’re so different but we’re not.  Okay, maybe when it comes to certain things, we can be quite different.  But our views on topics such as relationships and the situations we end up in are all so common.  Yet people don’t like to say anything and automatically assume they’re the only ones in that situation.

We’re also funny in that we’re creatures of habit.  I think we’ve all experienced this as well.  I’ll give an example.  I recently started a new job and now I take the 1 train to work.  But if my mind is preoccupied in the morning and I’m just not thinking about where I’m going, I end up at the 6 train.  Why is that?  Simply because I’ve been taking the 6 train every weekday for the last 4+ years.  When my mind is on cruise control, something else takes over.  And it brings me to whatever it is comfortable with…to what I’ve always done…regardless of whether or not it’s right.

If you were to touch fire, do you expect your hand to burn?  Do you think it will stop burning if you touched it again?  How about a third time?  For that matter, how about the millionth time?  Do you really expect the results to be different if you keep doing the same thing?  Fact is, and I’ve said this before, if you keep doing what you've always done, you will get what you've always gotten.  Wow, what an unbelievably simple concept.  So why is it that such brilliant people have such a hard time understanding this?

Change is not a bad thing.  It is a scary thing, but that does not mean it’s bad.  Break out of that comfort zone…stir things up a bit.  Don’t stay in a relationship because you’re comfortable.  If you’re sad half the time, that shit ain’t love my dear.

I end this post with one more thought.  Single and looking is not a choice.  Single and not looking is.  A simple perspective change can mean all the difference in your life and the way you feel about it.
