I can't believe this was a year ago

Japan 2007

our team before we went =)

J-House!! the church we worked with and stayed at for the 5 weeks we were in Japan

one of our main ministries was Funky Club. Funky Club is an international friendship circle which meets for about 50 minutes once a week.   There are 4 F’s to Funky Club: Friends, Food, Fun and Funky Talk. First, we split into D Groups (discussion groups). In these groups we introduce ourselves, share about our week and answer two questions that are related to that day’s Funky Talk. After D Groups, someone on my team would give a Funky Talk.  A Funky Talk is a funny story that happened to the speaker, with a moral.  After Funky Talk we would have a one minute English lesson.

On Fridays, J House would host Funky Party which is a larger version of Funky Club.  It is a time when all the Funky Clubs from the different universities come together.

We would start out with (free) dinner, which would be authentic Japanese food made by the J House women. SOOO good.

The Door drama we performed

Jumping Worship!

On Mondays, our team would go to the homeless shelter.  We would give testimonies and sermons and perform songs and dramas.

ragman skit

At the end of the night, the homeless men would line up and we would distribute bread and sandwiches to them.

Handing our flyers was a regular activity for us. It was one of the ways people found out about the different events we would be holding

Praying for souls at Umeda Station

One Saturday our team went to Kyoto and was able to witness the gods that the Japanese people believe in. This was at a Shinto shrine

Praying for the Japanese people who believe in false gods.

Another form of ministry that our team did, was English Lessons.  We held English lessons at J House twice a week for two-and-a-half hours.  During that time we would go over Pronounciation, Listening and Speaking and Reading Comprehension. We would use passages from the Bible for our Reading Comprehension.

our nights always ended like this:
