  Here's how it happened....

about one month ago, daniel and i planned to have a day trip to san francisco on monday, december 17th.  we would both take the day off, fly to sf in the morning and fly back to la the same night.  we wanted to go just so that we can take a break from work and spend some time together.

sunday night, i left the christmas concert to go to daniel's house by train.  daniel picked me up and drove me to his house.  when we arrived he told me to go put my stuff in his room because he had to clean something up in the backyard.  when i got into his room i found my digital camera and jeans on his desk.

a side note, i had been waiting for my digital camera and jeans to come in the mail from my mother all week.  i was getting stressed a little because i wanted my camera for the trip but it never came.

back to the story...i saw my camera and jeans on his desk.  i was confused.  there was a note on instructing me to turn it on and press play.  there was a video of daniel in his shirt and tie.  he explained to me that he flew to fresno last saturday to talk to my parents about our future.  he said some other nice things and then asked me to meet him outside in his backyard.

another side note, last saturday i was calling daniel over and over again but he did not pick up his phone or call me back.  i got frustrated and ignored him when he called.  he called me again later that night and wouldn't tell me what he did.  so i was sad inside.

here is a special treat for you all...daniel and his brother set up a webcam on his desk to catch my expression.  enjoy!

daniel's backyard has a very beatiful tree house/gazebo on top of a hill.  had put up lights around the raillings and candles on the steps leading to the tree house.  i walked up the steps and went into the tree house and saw daniel waiting for me.  then he proposed!

here we are after he proposed.

after he proposed, his friends came out yelling and screaming

introducing the future mrs. daniel lee.  so weird!  by the way daniel picked out the ring  without knowing what i liked or what finger size i am.  i think its beautiful and it fits perfectly!

monday.

the next day we went to sf as an engaged couple.  the trip was so much more meaningful this way.  daniel definitely caught me off guard.  i wondered if he would ask me in sf but i tried to not to think that way because i didn't want to get my hopes us.  so asking me the day before was a surprise.  here are some highlights from the trip

palace of fine arts...this place is beautiful.  if you ever go to sf, you must visit this place.  its so huge.

Hello again,

So I've started working and taking night courses for this business human resources program at UCSD.   Moving up the corporate ladder and making more money has never been a bigger temptation than now.  I never thought I would struggle with it but Satan is very sly.

This wonderful sister from the Council of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, whom I have never met, sent me a book about God's design for women.  She just recently sent me a great article titled, "I want to be a Mom."  It is about this lady who graduated from college and wanted to be a mother.  Her school counselor, professors, and friends thought she was crazy.

I want to share some of the writer's thoughts...

"Architects design buildings that will someday fall, programmers construct computer software that will eventually be obsolete - but fathers and mothers cultivate souls that will never die.  How wonderful to experience just an inkling of what God feels as our Father."

"I can guess what most people think when they find out about my lack of career aspirations.  They picture me in 10 years:  dressed in sweats doing laundry for my four kids; my degree collecting dust somewhere on a bookshelf; living in a one-income sized home; driving a used minivan.

They imagine my peers, however, utilizing their education to the fullest.  They will maintain a measure of independence unfettered by familial life, thanks to daycare, public schools, and extracurricular activities.  They will naturally be rewarded with great financial and material gain.

The Christian life is about sacrifices, giving up certian things for the sake of greater long-term benefits.  I know there could be times of financial strain in my marriage.  I know I might encounter tension with the majority of my married female peers because of my choice to stay at home.  I know I will have to give up a lot of personal time... its only by sacrifice that we understand what true love, commitment and maturity really mean.  Being a husband and father, or wife and mother, forces you to look outside yourself to the needs of others."

I don't think shes saying not to work or not to go to college, but to remember what is lasting and eternal.

until next time...
