I wasn't planning on posting again for another year... but this is really quite interesting... I have never ever gotten excited (in any way at all) whilst reading law books... but it seems some ppl... do get excited?

Lindfield 5 vs 0 Berowra

In short, a fantastic game. To be fair to our team, we did not deserve to win by 5 goals... we should have won by at least 5-10 more. Despite putting 5 away, we hit the post twice and spurned quite a lot of chances. A couple of us were probably lacking in confidence in front of goal, but hopefully after this game the floodgates will start to open.

We started off well, Juz's corner was flicked on by Poy, and the ball smacked me hard in the nose before flying into the top corner. We doubled our lead not long afterwards- a great run by Juz led to him being clobbered in the box. Roy missed the penalty but tucked away the rebound for his first of the season. And we looked to be home and dry when a fantastic pass by Juz found Tommy, who slotted the third for a 3-0 lead going in at half time.

The second half started rather shakily- overconfidence and compacency started to show as Berowra started applying the pressure, but great defence and tracking back kept them at bay. Vbas added a 4th with a stunning shot which went in off the post after great work by Chua. After a couple more missed chances (including a couple off the woodwork) Tommy was on hand to launch a scorching left foot volley into the net to round off the scoring.

The game can't be summed up of course by the hilarious incident involving a certain newcastle supporter who lost his cool. After tackling the ball and passing the ball forward, an opponent flew into him and tripped over him. The ref somehow awarded a free kick against the almighty Dez, who then launched a broadside at his opponent involving some rather un-Dez-like calls- 'GET UP YOU FRIGGING PUSSY'. You tell him Dez!

Well, we at least made up the deficit from the 0-5 hammering by NSBs in the first game. We have to start performing now. Great game guys.

Lindfield 2 vs 2 NSB(B)

On paper, a good result- drawing with the top team who's scored 10 goals in 2 games and conceded 0. Reality- we should have won. We were leading 2-0 in the first half thanks to a great poacher left foot goal from Tommy and a scorching volley from outside the box from Juz which just went straight in the top left corner.

We played well, defended intelligently for the first 80 minutes. Then they scored a flukey goal with 7 minutes on the clock- a hit-and-hope-cross from the right somehow evaded our whole backline and the goalkeeper, and a simple tap-in for their forward. Then to make matters worse, they scored basically exactly the same way with the last kick of the game.

I know we can all complain about offside and all that shit (yes they were offside, but there was basically no linesman as he was standing on halfway most of the game). We let ourselves down in the last 10 minutes.

But otherwise, a great performance. If we can keep this intensity up, we've got a good chance this year.
