I am not usually a screaming maniac on my political views. Generally I figure you think the way you were shaped, and I think the way I have been shaped, and mostly that's how its going to be. You most likely won't change my views and I don't figure I am eloquent enough to change yours.
However, the whole argument that there were no WMD's has never sat well with me, being that they found so many possible parts to these things that it was getting to be crazy to me. When the stash of containers for chem warfarfe were found, the argument was that they were empty, so they couldn't be for evil use, and I sat there thinking, what? do we think Saddam was going to use them to dispense lemonade? But again, I probably wouldn't have changed your mind.
I also figured that the fact that we have saved so many women and children from abuse, starvation and worse , wouldn't fly because somehow many folks feel that freedom, democracy, and human rights are mostly for Americans, and that if you have been beaten into submission for decades, you still should somehow be able to save yourself. So I kept my mouth shut... but now I just can't be quiet anymore.
What I want to know now, is why the article I linked to below hasn't been on the front page of every paper, and headlining every newscast, because IMHO it says that there was an intention and ability for Saddam to produce WMD's and maybe our intelligence wasn't so far off base, and maybe Bush isn't the Babykiller the media has been trying to portray him to be... but once again the media speculates in the headlines and when they report the truth, it ends up buried on page 43 in between ads for weedpullers and sneakers (figuratively speaking)
So.....Read this and tell me we went into Iraq under false pretenses!
