  • Shawl progress

    Promises made and kept.

I have only been working on this shawl for the past month.

ON world wide knit in public day, on which is rained. Stormed, I made

a mistake. I only found it a few days later. Thus I had to rip out a few

rows. That turned into 12 rows...8 days later... Due to being very

careful in ripping the last 3 out, as I did Not want to rip out the last

3, but ended up  ripping out them,  I am finally knitting in the right

    direction. FORWARD.

ebay items 002 NO I have NOT nor will add a lifeline. I just have added about 15 more stitchmarkers, thank you Michelle.

The new fall yarns are arriving. I need to blockade myself from the lyc.. again, Sorry Michelle.

I made the mistake of walking thru a Macys dept. store today. I don't have any Cc's anymore, nor will be using them.

I don't do window shopping, so unless I am going to buy something, I am not going in that store. NOt in that store for 2 seconds, was I asked if I  would like to open a  (nasty word) CC. I thus told the nice man who was just doing his job, that if he said another word to me I would take him to court and thus sue the pants off of him as I had  spent thousands of dollars in both therapy ,  and court and would never recover from the emotional distress that Macys had done to me as I not only once but twice had 3 different accounts from them and they still wanted to open yet another account for me. (some of this story is true not all) I had overloaded on sugar from a luncheon at The cheesecake factory after being down 2.6# at WW.

Truly I have lost 15# and only another 40  to go. and I plan to run the

Great Race in Pgh. at the end of Sept. Am going to the gym 3 times a

    week and weightlifting.

    Hopefully more energy for knitting.

Made another payment on my  Kromski Sonata spinnng wheel!!!

  • June Bug

A JUne. Nice heat. Pittsburgh Humidity. The Art Festival. Wicked rainstorms. Always comes

that comes every  June that comes when our Art Festival comes. It's a tradition. Those poor

Artists. Not just normal storms either. I mean thunderstorms and loads of it. then the heat and

humidity returns with it. But it is one of the best festivals in the country.

Knitting news.  I have been working diligently on one project for the past month. Who knew I

could be so faithful to just one??

The civil war shawl. and I haven't even put in a lifeline yet and I am on round 58!!!!\ My first

big  knit in the round lace project to boot.

Now the sun has gone down. No pics tonight. will have to wait till another day.

No mistakes, other than  accidently breaking the yarn. I did a russian join. then when I got

to the fragile area on the  next round, I didnt' pull it apart, just looks a tad loose.

  • More sheep and wool

    This yarn is so yummy.

it is by Kiparoo farms and is called "silk road"new ebay items 018

a 50/50 blend of wool and silk. The color blend that I bought sold out immediatly. It was the first booth that I stopped in, the first skein that I bought, and I did NOT regret my quick decision for a moment.new ebay items 017

I got a beautiful 1 skein summer top, unfortunately the pattern is Erratica from the start. As in the number of stitches  you cast on. I thought I was going crazy, took it up to the lys, and the owner checked it and yep, I am NOT certifyabley crazy. It is a simle lacy fan and waves and i believe I can fix this on my own, so am going to try.

Now the next find is this gorgeous cashmere blend, from Sanguine Graphine, I didn't read about it on the internet, I was browsing Cloverleaf Hill yarn shop.rovings 009

I hope to do the civil war shawl with this. I got 3 skeins, 400yrds each. Just need 7 more skeins.

There is a KAL for it. Started  beginning of May. Plan to start it today~~~ I must... it is so gorgeous.

Here is the spindle that I bought.  rovings 006

    NOt my golding one.

I took another handspinning class yesterday. Hoping to call The woolery this week and put my Kromski sonata on layaway while they are having free shipping and the bag and other few things on sale till the end of the month.

I do love my hand spindles. but the spinning wheel, there is nothing like it and want to practice before my next class on june 7th, which is about plying consistantly. (which I mainly concentrated on the feet and hand work yesterday, so you will see my first skein of plied yarn soon.

So all in all accomplished 2 thing knittingwise.

ripped out 8 rows in the spring top of the kiparro farms yarn, to start over,

and need to rip out my dale of norway summer top, as it being knit in the round, I forgot to work on the decreases, so I had gotten 4" worked on the way to Md and back, and just mentally kicking myself in the butt for that dumb mistake. What gorgeous colors with this svale.

Have you seen the new Knitting magazine that is out?rovings 005

    ya........

ok, tomorrow maybe I will show you the roving I bought this past week. YUMMY.

  • My new spindle

Have I mentioned that I learned to use a spindle??

Yes I got the Itch to want a spinning wheel again. This is nothing new. I looked and took classes a few years ago. but put it aside.

But near my dr's office is a newer shop called "natural stitches" and a wonderful teacher "Carol McFadden" who also sells her fibers and yarns, teaches there. So I took a private lesson from her. A catch up lesson, if you will.

I had trouble drafting and working the 2 hands. I had spun before, so I have no idea why this time was so hard. So she being the wonderful teaher that she is, suggested that I learn to draft using the park and drive method?? on a spindle.

So I did. And I loved it. So i do have a spindle.  made by J.Grafton fibers. yarn for sale 020

WEll, going to Md. sheep and wool, you know I was bound to end up with another..

    this one...

What a beauty. All .8 oz. of it.

Got to be my favorite item from that weekend. Being that I didn't buy my spinning wheel...

I finished my MIL's capelet a few days ago. All that it needed was the pearl button that I put on it. new ebay items 016
