  • Toadstools

I went out toadstool hunting but there weren't many around.  I'll go back in a couple of weeks.  The weather is getting colder.  Time to unearth some winter clothes and do a round of the op-shops in search of a new wardrobe.

  • In Limbo

I should be sitting here with my right hand in a splint, pecking away with my left hand, but I'm not.  My knuckle replacement operation was cancelled at the last moment with alternative date yet.  What a pain.  I wanted to get it over and done with.  Oh well.

In the meantime, the weather has been glorious.  Here are a few recent pics.

My knuckle replacement operation is on 8th April, so I have been doing the garden and mulching it with peastraw to stop the weeds.  My hand will be in a splint for 6 weeks.......... which will be challenging.

  • Late Summer

This is one of my favourite times of the year.........hot, sunny days with a hint of Autumn in the mornings.  Also an abundance of courgettes, beans, corn, capsicum, tomatoes and the first apples of the season.  Last week, dad and I went out to Nelson Creek to pick plums.  A friend of his has four very old plum trees. They were so ripe we just had to shake the tree and they fell off. Beautiful purple skinned plums with dark red flesh.  I made Chilli Plum Sauce and plum jam.

The house is nearly finished, its presently being painted.  I was a bit worried that I would run out of money but I'll just make it.  Back to the usual 'living on the smell of an oily rag' lifestyle for me.  However it is worth it.  The leaking roof has been replaced and the windows were in a bad condition.  Water had been getting in under the putty and the frames were starting to rot. So the windows have been re-puttied and the rotten bits replaced.  I find it frustrating not being able to paint myself, because of my arthritis.  Nevermind.

    Flowers from the garden.
