God's grace never ceases to amaze me. So, I have been planning and praying and preparing for a future...my future. Of course, God was supposed to be involved. Afterall, I was doing all of this for His glory, right? Going through highschool, looking at different avenues for jobs, careers, etc. Boy, is that overwhelming! I had so many different things that I wanted to do. But, at the root of all of it was a deep desire to change the culture for Jesus Christ--that was my duty, correct? I looked at everything from going into the Air Force, to learning Arabic as an Islamic Studies major (to do missions work in the Middle East), to moving overseas. Everything, but the thing the Lord had commanded me to prepare for.

What was my goal anyway? Well of course I wanted to have a family, and lots (try 17) children. Then, I would be the perfect wife and homemaker. But until then, I had stuff to do, places to go, people to see. Later of course, I would meet the perfect man who fulfilled all the qualities on my 600 page list and settle down.

If my career was more likely than not one of a wife and mother, why on earth was I not preparing for it?

I interned with the GOP, pursued competitive sports, was involved in anything and everything but preparing for what my ultimate purpose as a woman is. To glorify God, by fulfilling the role He made me for, that of a helper.

Okay, so fine, I read some books. Some very good books--some very good scriptures. And, the Lord has made it clear to me. In all of my attempts to serve Him, I was actually falling over my own pride. I could be revolutionary, I could be a strong woman for Him, I could defend the faith and prove to the world that all of my homeschooling was not a failure. I could prove that I was someone, of course humbly attempting to bring God into the picture.

But, why did I think my position and credentials would make me anything? Was I willing to travel a different road and pursue the scorned?

Simply put, was I willing to follow what I soon believed was God's design and purpose for women, or would I cave to the pressure of my church and even friends?

Alright, so to quickly try to summarize everything:

I am a daughter, a daughter preparing for a lifetime of service. I will remain under my dad's authority and guidance until the day I marry (if I do). I am in training to run a household. I will be using this season in my life to serve my family (unfortunately, I haven't quite got that concept down yet ), the community--with the local Pregnancy centers, and learn practical business skills with my dad--as well as assist him in his work. Oh, and just for the record--I am getting a degree. An Associates in Business Management, and then a Bachelor's in Christian Counseling. My parents want me to have the Business degree for any "just in case" situations, and I can't wait to study Calvin and Edwards (I love Edwards) from a Reformed Bible school.

That was actually a pretty short summary. *pats self on back*

So, I actually enjoy the rude comments, and funny looks and the phrases ending with "you have so much potential" and a sigh. If only they knew.

He never said it would be easy.

Oh...that little band of gold

Tim and Ashley are engaged!!!!

I am so excited for them!
U.S. Senate To Vote On Homosexual Marriage June 6

The most important vote in the Senate this year! The future of our children is at stake.

On June 6, the U.S. Senate will vote on the constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Time is short! It is critical that you contact your senators and ask them to vote for the Marriage Protection Amendment (MPA).

Once homosexual marriage is legal, our religious liberties will be stripped away. Even pro-homosexual marriage advocates agree with that statement. To understand how this will happen, please take time read Dr. Maggie Gallagher's very detailed and accurate article by clicking here. Print it out and give a copy to your pastor!

Only a constitutional amendment will stop homosexual marriage from becoming the law of the land.

Take Action

It is extremely important that you email your senators today, and get as many others as possible to do the same. Please, please forward this to your family and friends!

Tomorrow is the election! I went to a Youth Rally & Precinct Walk on Saturday. It was fun because I went with a friend, but unfortunately I have never heard so much bad language in my entire life (from other teenagers there). Oh well.

Have you ever gotten in an argument with someone about abortion (or another topic) and you just end the little "debate" because it is so pointless, you know you are right and you know they are wrong. Not to sound stuck up, but some discussions are pointless because one side is wrong and one side is right. Now, of course, you do it in a very humble way...

I was listening to Brian Sussman last week and he was talking about his family's experience with social workers and adoption etc. At the time they had one daughter (age 2) and were trying to adopt a four year old. When the social worker came in for the "home inspection" she was upset to learn that Mr. & Mrs. Sussman disciplined their 2 year old daughter with spankings. This led a pretty heated argument about spankings and child-rearing in general. Finally Mrs. Sussman said something like, "Excuse me Ms. social worker, how many children do you have by the way?" and the social worker said, "I don't have any children, but I have "such and such" degress in child psychology." So, Mrs. Sussman said, "Well, I've got the degrees and the kid, so there!"

"OK, here is my first, non-military post! (Though bound to be ever so controversial! )

Here goes (NOTE: borrowed somewhat from Doug Phillips )!

When Adam and Eve sinned, God pronounced judgement on them. Adam's curse was to work the ground with the sweat of his brow; Eve's was pain in childbirth.

When was the last time you saw a man bearing the woman's curse?

*laughter*

*crickets chirping*

When was the last time you saw a woman bearing the man's curse?

*deafening silence as the above thought sinks in*

Why? A man (so far) can only bear one curse; why do so many women try to bear both?

Just a thought.....

(Told you it was controversial!!! )

PS: If you haven't already, don't forget to give your opinion in the "interactive military story!" (It should be on the next page, now.) "---SecDef

Comments anyone?

And we were OK

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down
the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the
bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all,
no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell
phones, no personal computers, no internet or internet chat
rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no
lawsuits from these accidents.

We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and ate worms and although we
were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes, nor did the
worms live in us forever.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang
the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little league had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't
had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.
They actually sided with the law!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers
and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO
DEAL WITH IT ALL!

And YOU are one of them! CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with
others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the
government regulated our lives for our own good.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

Wednesday, February 23, 2005
