| black black blackBlack Rainstorm on June 7, 2008
Dear Colleagues,
Kindly be informed that the Black Rainstorm in the morning of Saturday, June 7, 2008 had caused serious damages to the Main Campus, among other places, the most serious of which was the landslide at the back of Chow Yei Ching Building, which led to soil and muddy water ingress into the lower parts of the Chow Yei Ching Building, Composite Building and Haking Wong Building. The Composite Building carpark and the elevated road were invalidated; lifts in Haking Wong and Composite Buildings were also invalidated. Water supply to the Graduate House, 2 UDrive, K.B.S.B. and C.Y.C. was terminated. Most parts of the U-Drive were also invalidated due to fallen trees and the accumulation of soil. In other words, starting from the early morning of the June 7, 2008, most parts of the Main Campus were isolated from outside.
Emergency situation was declared and we struggled through Saturday, Sunday and Monday to try and bring the Campus and buildings back to normal. |
