  • 3 Already?

    P6280157

I can't believe he's already 3.  My son has the best sense of humor.  He loves to say, "Knock Knock Mommy."  When I answer, "Who's there?"  His answer is always...ALWAYS... "Me!"  How can you not love that?  He looks so pleased with himself when he tells you that, how could you not love it?

He went from barely talking, to speaking in complete sentences.  Dalton loves to tell me what's growing beside the road..."Grass Mommy!"  "OOOOH, look...corn."  Some of his sounds still need help.  That's why he'll still be in speech when he starts pre-school.  But man, I love when he talks to me.

Dalton loves playing with kids.  Not necessarily always nicely...but loves other people his size.  :)  And I love that.  I think pre-school will be perfect for him.

I could talk about this little boy for years.  I love when he makes me smile and laugh.  He's loving.  I can't imagine my life right now without him in it...who is in your life that you can't imagine not seeing daily?

  • Lovely Weekend...Yucky Week (So far)

Ok, so my weekend was wonderful!  We had a friend visiting for the weekend and we spent lots of time playing games, visiting, hanging out, etc.  Other than Dalton asking for Daddy REPEATEDLY, it was a great weekend!  Dalton got to play with Orion (one of Jen's cousins)...we ate lots of good food.  We made more tie dyed shirts.  J.R.'s turned out very awesome.  We finished yesterday off with a 3 hour nap, dinner, shopping, then a very easy bedtime!

Yesterday I started having lights coming on within my dash of the van.  Lovely.  This morning, on the way to drop Dalton off, my van decided NOT to continue working.  Now I'm driving Mom's van while my van sits at the mechanic's shop.  Lovely.  Apparently, it's the alternator...but maybe not.  I'm a librarian, not a mechanic.

So that's how my lovely weekend turned into a sucky week (so far.).  Hopefully yours is going better than mine!

    Tie Dyed Forearms

P5130149I love this picture of D!

So, I am awake on a Saturday morning before Dalton because I'm waiting for the exterminator.  Why did I schedule an exterminator on a Saturday (especially when I have so much to do today!)?  Because Larry found what he thinks is a brown recluse spider.  Scary stuff.  So I got myself put on the schedule for today to get my house treated!  After today, hopefully we will be spider free!

I mentioned before all the things I have to get done today...I'm driving 1.5 hours away to pick up a friend who wants to come visit, but only has one car for his family.  Then we are driving back and going to United Art and Education, out to lunch, and then we're coming back here to do some tie dying.  I'm teaching him how to do it, so we ought to have some fun.  After that, Scott's coming over to hang out because the last time J.R. visited my current friends became friends with him.  I'm really glad because both J.R. and Scott need a really good friend!  Then we have Kim's birthday party...then we'll come home and Dalton will play with Jen's little cousin that she's babysitting.  Bedtime for the boys and then it's game time for the adults!  Busy day.

Scott helped me out with my first batch of T-shirts and they turned out AWESOME!  I have a better technique for making the swirls.  This new technique makes it about 10 times easier!  YAY for easier!  Larry was so excited about his shirt...he wore it on his fishing trip.  Anyways...as I'm dying shirts, I managed to get dye on my forearms.  They now look like they are either a tie dyed t-shirt OR like I have some really colorful unique bruises.  Lovely.

Well, I'm going to get off of here now and clean off the game table so it's ready for tonight.  I'll leave you with a picture of my Mom's azalea bush.  It's gorgeous!

    Love,

    Smertz

    Mel,

Thank you for becoming a mom 34 years ago.  Without that, I wouldn't have my husband.

    Love you!

    Dalton,

Thank you for making me a mommy.  It's the best job in the whole entire world--being your mommy.

    Love,

    Mom-Mom
