| The following is a response to a comment left on someone else's Xanga in regards to homosexuality and living as a christian. I'm sick of typing...so here you go:
*********
Well, Somethignlikejoy does have a point...Christianity is all about living a lifestyle that is actively in search of Him. Along with this, we also know that the Bible says, one must remove the plank from their own eye, before removing the speck from their brothers and sisters. I really love when he writes to you, "i do not believe that acting out those desires or claiming to continue to live openly in them while still following Christ as you have with your xanga address is not a reflection of a life totally committed to Him." I like this passage because actually you are emboding what Christ desired in his people especially when he writes to the Church of Philadelphia in Revelations. But I'll break it down for all those non-biblical people out there..."acting out of those desires"...by this he is referring to loving another human with all their heart, having them in sickness and in health, rich or poor, until death. I hardly think that entereing into homosexual relationships is sinful as Christ calls us to love one another. However, I believe the point he is trying to make is that, gay sex is sinful. Well awesome! First, even if it is, then so is getting drunk in public, and cursing the name of God, and committing adultry, and lusting with your mind for another person...the list goes on. Now this prik of a gentleman might say that those are ok...but God says that no sin is more sinful than any other sin...again back to the plank idea. Now, for my case that homosexual intercourse is not a sin. First, God all wants us to love one another. given. God also created each and every one of us in his own likeness, to serve his purpose in the kingdom. given. God is love. given. God also says that the truest expression of one's love for another being is the act of intercourse. Now, I know you are all thinking, awesome...but God says that homosexuality is an abomination. Yep...in Leviticus...18:22. but God never said that homosexuality is a sin. Leviticus is the book of what? Quiz show...LAW...Law is created by MAN. The only law, that GOD CREATED was the 10 commandments. The rest of law, is man made by societal reflections of what the people of that time THOUGHT was allowed and what was not. So, you may say, ok, in Leviticus the law says homosexuality is wrong. Fine. The Bible also says in Exodus 21:7 that a father can sell the youngest daughter into slavery. Exodus 35:2 says that an employer can put an employee to death because they work on the Sabbath. Leviticus 11:7 says that you cannot touch the skin of a dead pig because it makes you unclean. All the ones that I just listed, were called by the people of that time as legitimate acts according to the law as they perceived it. We don't do any of those anymore. We would be jailed if we sold our children, we work on sunday's all the time, we eat pig and we play with pig skin things such as footballs all the time. ...I think I've made my case there.
Finally, I'll tackle this point that this awkward gentleman makes..."...claiming to continue to live openly in them while still following Christ..." I think this is the epitomization of what a Christian walk should be. Living openly and honest with the Lord, confessing one's wholeself to their brothers and sisters in Christ...I don't really see how you can argue with that. This one, I don't feel I need to back myself with Scripture on this one...because, well this guy is just dumb.
If any of y'all have any question regarding this...you can direct them to me... chris.algera@gmail.com As, for Mr. Somethinglikejoy...obvioulsy another prime example of someone who really hasnt tackled the true meaning of faith and how it realtes to the world.
