  • its about time to update but i dont feel very inspired. if i was a good writer i could talk about some of the interesting characters that i help in the shop everyday. like the rich people who can spend 2000 dollars on a few ironwood chairs or the men with black bushes growing out of their ears and many others. oh i have a new pet that i keep in the shop. it is a black widow that i found and put in a container and continue to feed flys that i catch throughout the day. its getting a lot bigger than when i caught her. so anyways last evening we played vball with pickens and shiloh youth so that was fun. i hope we can continue to do stuff with them occasionally. today i mowed the yard cleaned me and tonys bathroom washed and cleaned out my vehicle and helped wash my dads truck so ive stayed pretty busy. in a few weeks im headed back up to dryden ontario to blc for the summer again so im really looking forward to that. i would really appreciate you alls prayers as im up there over the summer. so here are a couple pics from last year.

  • ive just had an interesting experience. i was sitting at home alone minding my own business shopping on amazon when i get a phone call from a man in our church. he said that there was a big tree down over the road just up the road from my place and nobody could get through. so i packed up our chainsaw and headed up the road in the rain. there was indeed a tree across the road and it was huge. we unpacked the chainsaw and paul started cutting and i started hauling branches out of the way to clear one lane. (im not extremely comfortable running a chainsaw because i havent run one all that much) well pretty soon another young guy from our church shows up on his crotchrocket and helps us out. it didnt take us too long with another couple of guys help and pretty soon another chainsaw to get one lane clear so traffic could move again. the other guy kept cutting and i directed traffic till the hyway dept showed up and moved it over the guardrail with a backhoe. i was there for about an hour and i was soaked but anyways here are a few pics. i only had my phone so they arent that great.

    05-15-08_1914

i didnt think of taking pics till we were well on the way to having it cleared but it blocked the entire road.

    05-15-08_1918

the backhoe pushing it out of the way.

    05-15-08_1929

and this one is really blurry but the tree is safe and sound on the other side of the guardrail.

so if anyone is in need of some good oak firewood i know where you can get some. it might be a little wet but let it season for a while and it would heat a house for a year. its good to be dry again. later.             Davis

  • A massive earthquake stunned southwest China, killing more than ...

wow what a wakeup call. just about a year and a half ago. i was in the center of that red dot. please remember the people that this affects. especially because of all the unreached in this area. my prayer is that God will use this in some way to reach many people.

  • FWAP1

we officially have a name now for our kids club. im so glad we finally got it decided. it was either this or C3 (challenging children for Christ) but we decided on this one. i liked C3 but im kind of glad we didnt go with that because i feel like God gave me this name. i was praying for inspiration for a name one day and i happened to think of "fun with a purpose" and i had been wanting an acronym so i put it together and it just clicked. i even visualized how i wanted it written almost immediatly so that was pretty cool. anyways we would appreciate your prayers as we continue in our ministry. oh and if anyone would like to write a theme song or something for us i think that would be cool too so anyways. God bless.                      Davis

  • if you want a great sense of accomplishment you should put together a few pieces of iron wood furniture. for those of you who dont know what iron wood is let me explain it to you. it is an exotic hardwood that comes out of brazil, and its called iron wood for a reason. it is so hard and heavy that it will actually sink in water. also each screw has to be counter sunk for the head and drilled in the length of the screw or it will break the screw off. so anyways to say the least its not a lot of fun to work with but when you get done with a piece it feels great to be done with it and it really feels like you did something. they are also very beautiful chairs as well. a little expensive (325 dollars for a rocker, treated wood is 120) but they will last a lifetime.

so anyways in other news, friday evening i went with my family and the junior and senior homeschoolers for a cookout and i got this picture.

  • well shucks. i just went to post and i lost the whole thing. it was pretty long too about my day leaving early this morning driving 2 hours to about a 5 million dollar house to build a gazebo about a 100 yards down a steep hill behind the house. anyways there was a lot of little things that seemed to go wrong like the architectural comittee wanting to make us tear it down becuase we didnt go through them and small things like that. but we got it done and got home around 7 so it was a long tiring day but it was ok. so anyways here are some pics.

    04-17-08_1242

the front of the house. slate roof, copper gutter, flashing and drip edge, stone, shakes on the wall and all that good stuff.

    04-17-08_1640

this is about half way down the trail and we have a lot of heavy stuff

here you can kind of see the hill although it doesnt really show it here. the truck is parked somewhere at the top on the right side.

    04-17-08_1644

there was even a golf course in the valley below

here is a song that i thought i would throw in as well. its prolly my favorite casting crowns song but pretty much all of their songs are good. so enjoy

  • wow im really tired right now but to find out why you have to keep reading. i had quite the adventure this evening. it all started when i decided to go fishing after work. so i ate supper hopped in my durango and went up the road to a place where i have never been before. i drove right to the place a dead end gravel road. i had been told that there was a trail going down to the river only about a hundred yards or so. well i searched around the dead end and found a blaze on a tree and headed through the woods. unfortunatly they had just control burned the woods so the trail if there was any was black and covered with ash and leaves. i soon made it to a small creek that i was pretty sure there wasnt any fish in so i followed it and before long made it to a beautiful looking river to fish in. i fished for and hour or two working my way down stream fishing different holes along the way. as i went i looked for a better trail going up to the parking place but i didnt see anything and finally around 8 i decided to head back. i started up a small trail which i think was a game trail as low as the braches were and headed off in the general direction of the vehicle. to make a long story short before long i started praying that God would take me to my vehicle. the trail kept meeting bigger trails so i kept following and finally ended on a gravel road. at this point i called my dad (thank God for cell service in the mountains) and tried to figure out where i was. we figured out that i should go a certain direction and i started walking. and soon made it to the main hyway about 10 miles by road from where i parked. well my dad came and picked me up and we got to my vehicle and back home all in one piece but much more exercized. so thats my adventure and im glad i can spend the night in my bed instead of in the woods with a wet shirt. (i had dropped my long sleeve shirt in the water accidentally earlier) God still hears our prayers. and he cares about even little me. ttyl                     Davis

  • well we had a good weekend. some of us guys from our church and community went through the "wild at heart" video series by john eldridge. it was really good. to cap off our time together we did something wild at heart. we got up saturday morning and went whitewater rafting and after that took canoes out on lake tugaloo and went camping. all in the rain i might add. anyways it was a lot of fun. the rain raised the river so it was nice and high and wild. for my first time rafting. so anyways here are some pics. sorry for you that have dial up i feel for you but now that i have higher speed i like putting pics on.
