Seattle 2008 We always seem to take a big vacation trip somewhere before one of our babies are born - yes, we are expecting our third later this year! Before Eleanor, we went on a Caribbean cruise. Before Christopher, we went to Maui. This time we went to Seattle. It was my son's first flight. We were ready for the worst, but he did just fine. Flying, however, was less than smooth. We got a good price on non-stop flights from LAX to Seattle, but both flights were delayed. To Seattle, we were only delayed 30 minutes. Different story on the way back. Online, our flight was on time. When we arrived at the airport in Seattle, we didn't even see our flight listed on the board. Puzzled, we headed to the gate. We checked the gate again and our flight was delayed by 3 hours! Not good with tired little one to take care of! After talking to some other passengers on our flight, it seemed they consolidated 2 half-empty flights into one - likely consequence from soaring fuel prices. Despite our travel difficulties, we had a great time. We were really glad to have a GPS unit as driving around Seattle can be tricky. Here are a few photos - more to come later! Thanks for stopping by. DAY 1 - TRAVEL DAY The only picture of the whole day - the kids hanging out at LAX. Eleanor was so proud of her princess backpack and luggage set.
DAY 2 - PIKE MARKET, WOODLAND ZOO AND SPACE NEEDLE We ended up visiting the Space Needle twice in one day - once in the morning and once at night. It was 9:30 pm and the sun was still out - we would have liked to see the citylights, but the kids were delirious (they're used to sleeping at 7 pm usually).
They weren't throwing around the big fish when we were there.
Mesmorized by the local crayfish.
On to the Space Needle!
Standard Starbucks pic.
They love water fountains.
One of Christopher's favorite habits - "strumming" with his left hand across all kinds of textures.
The Woodland Zoo did not disappoint - the kids had a blast!
The zoo had a neat indoor playground and educational area.
Petting a hedgehog.
Back to Space Needle
70 lbs of offspring in my arms!
My delirious son made more delirious by the windy condition on the Space Needle observation deck at 9 pm.
Perfect end to the first full day in Seattle
