Last night D and I went to see Death Cab for Cutie (DCFC) and Rogue Wave.
I think I like indie music concerts. They don't seem to inspire people to dress up, stand up, dance it up, or be stuck up.

The show was great, but different than I expected.
I consider Death Cab to be melancholy background music. They played the songs with drive and energy which distorted their presorted condition in the proprietary "Biscuit King category system." Regardless of their refusal to bow to my restrictive expectations, it was a really good show. I was amazed at how good the vocals sounded. I was able to pick up phrases due to the clarity of the sound I've missed on the cd. DCFC is all about the lyrics to me.

High Point: During the seven minute intro to "I Will Possess Your Heart" the house and stage lights were dark save two giant spots pointing from behind the guitar/bass players pointing to the audience. I spent 5 of those minutes staring directly into the light and listening to bass riff thumping. It was a good high point.

Low Point: The "Plans" CD was my life soundtrack when mom was sick two years ago. The feelings of that time came back up like bad food a couple of moments mid-show. I found myself hoping they would not play certain songs. It's weird how music can brand itself to a time/place/experience like that.

In the amusing category, it was also a night of conflicting smells. Here are a some of what I remember:
-teen boy
-pot
-girly fresh perfume
-cigarettes
-cinnamon
-bacon

The tertiary high point was running into That's Ridiculous and Daniel after the show.

So in the last two week I have:

-driven a over a thousand miles with my sister to visit our mother's grave in Tennessee
-watched 2 movies at the theater
-made 3 separate orders to Amazon
-eaten once in every fast food genre
-finished 2 books
-started 2 more
-gone crazy for 4th edition
-watched my first ultimate fighting show
-seen a roadside gas station urinal filled with ice
-officiated a super-cool wedding
-slept on one of those space foam mattresses
-totally neglected my online presence
-not gotten over my fixation with odd numbers

-I got green ink for the fountain pen; forest green.
-I had lunch with my wife. That happens so rarely, it is worth posting.
-My Dad called this morning from his campsite in the north somewhere. I loathe camping, but I love my Dad.
-Out, but not until it's odd.

I understand that Disney makes cute kid costumes, but THIS one looks like Thumper (or his rabid zombie cousin) totally ate that kid's head.

So a garbage disposer will jam if you spill aquarium filter rocks into it.

It costs around $100-150 for a new one.
You will have to stick your hand down the drain and fish out whatever gross food waste you drop down there after forgetting that the disposer doesn't work any more.

You will sulk about having to call a plumber/fix it yourself.

After a week of sulking and hand fishing you will reach your breaking point...you will check the internets.
And maybe, just maybe you will find an expert to tell you how to unjam it.

Then you will here this glorious sound...
