So summer is coming to a close and I'm not quite sure what to make of it...I feel like a lot has happened while not enough has happened. A couple of my friendships have really strengthened, and I'm grateful for that. But despite all of this, I feel like not enough has happened...I suppose its because it all happened in the latter part of the summer, but still...knowing that I won't be able to see certain people during the school year blows me~

Either way, although summer seems like its ending, I do realize that this year will be different and new..I definitely have a lot more responsibilities for this upcoming year and I expect my workload to be much harder than last year...One poem that really came to mind while thinking of what to write was The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost:

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;            5

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,            10

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.            15

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

The road not taken definitely has more hardship, but like Rob said, it makes all the difference.

Had a pretty good time partying like a rockstar at Easton with the College Park friends. It was fun. I'm not going to go through much detail about what happened because you had to be there to understand.

There's not much to say. If you have anything you'd like to ask me to answer - hopefully that will give me ideas to say something.

That's all.

Happy Birthday Rachel.

This Fourth of July has certainly been memorable. I can't say that I've ever seen hail on Independence Day, much less during the Summer, but today, there was hail amongst the torrents of rain that was pouring down. Crazy isn't it?

Anyway, I am taking JAPN101 next semester (6 CREDITS O_O) and I've started learning some of the Hiragana characters since I know I won't be able to keep up with the class (since I can't memorize things for crap). But I plan on going through the Hiragana characters, Katakana characters, then grammar/vocabulary. At one point in the next 4 years, I intend on going to Japan so I'm taking some Japanese courses (hoping to Minor in Japanese) just for fun. Seriously, haha. To be frank, there hasn't been a class that I really WANTED to take, but JAPN101 is the first class I really wanted to take. Though at times, I imagine that the class will be difficult (from what I hear, it is), I feel like I'll enjoy learning the material...Actually, it was sort of a miracle that I even got into the class in the first place. For UMD, there is an online system for you to sign up for classes. When I saw that JAPN101 was open, I had to drop several classes that I just had to fill up credits with (one of which was AASP100 - Intro to African American Studies LOL) in order to sign up for JAPN101 since you can only have 16 credits signed up before classes start. But I didn't see the little red star that was next to the name JAPN101 which indicated - TRANSFER STUDENTS AND FRESHMEN HAVE PRIORITY. Apparently all the classes that I dropped were also marked with the red star. So essentially, I was screwed because I wasn't a full time student. The financial implications of that is expensive, but if you're a college student, you probably understand that most financial aid is directed only to full time students and once you go under a certain number of credits, you become a part-time student. So at that point, I was panicking because I had dropped several courses for a course that I could only be wait-listed on (and I knew that Freshmen orientations last until the end of August). The very next day, I opened my email and I got a message from the Foreign Language Coordinator saying: "I noticed that you recently placed your name on the holdfile for JAPN 101, so I have gone ahead and entered an oversubscription permission for you to section 0401. This will expire on July 5, 2007 so please register online as soon as possible to guarantee your spot in the course." Wow. I wonder why things fell into place like this...fate? Destiny? God's will? I still don't understand, but I certainly am happy about it. Exciting.

Also, I have to find a new Verizon phone since I'm getting the $100 rebate every two years towards a new phone. I really don't know anything about phones and I doubt I know every function on my current phone (sad isn't it? =\). But needless to say, I have no idea which phones are good...I'm just looking for a Verizon phone that's around less than or equal to $100 - can anybody help me?
