| Feel Good ActorJohn Cusack. An underrated actor in my opinion. Is there a movie of his that doesn't make you feel good at the end? Ok, maybe 1408.....but he's always lovable.

| Observations From My Window The view through my window of life............
Another reason I have no business gambling........... I tuned into the Kentucky Derby this weekend and decided I'd mentally bet on the race since I wasn't there to place a real one. I decided to not go along with the favored Big Brown since there's no fun in that. I decided my pick would be Eight Belles. She was the only female of the group, so I had to go with her. She surprises everyone by giving Big Brown a run for his money and comes in a strong second. Then.....the poor horse breaks both ankles and immediately has to be put down. Yes, I can pick them.. not only did I not pick the winner but my horse had to be put down.
The Manufacturers of paper medical gowns have never tested their products....... If they had, they would know that this is a useless item. I had my annual physical this week and I'm handed a paper gown to put on prior to the exam. As soon as I try to maneuver this gown around me to try to modestly cover myself, it rips. The more I try to fix it the more it tears. I may as well been handed a roll of 1 ply toilet paper. Clearly, a man designed these gowns. A woman who has had to wear these would have known this would never work.
Want a wake call on your health? Schedule an early morning appoint with your doctor....... As I sat in the waiting room waiting to be called on, I was surrounded by elderly people and some not so elderly that were in very bad health. They were crippled over, oxygen strapped around them, many barely able to walk. I sat and listen to a couple of women who had worked together. They discussed how in their younger days the did nothing but work, come home, and go back again. They thought they'd be able to enjoy life later. Now, they were too sick to do anything. This really hit me. I thought to myself, I'm only a few years away from this if I don't take better care of myself. As soon as the doctor walked into the office, I told her "You don't even have to give me the lecture on my weight. I'm starting Weight Watchers today!" I want to enjoy life now and hopefully for many more years to come.
My couch is the ultimate sleeping aid...... As soon as I lay down on it, I'm out for the night. If only I could bottle it's essence, I would cure the world of insomnia.
Shiny new sink! Exciting!.......... I never knew I could get excited over plumbing, but I found out I could. My sink was leaking severely and I had to have a new one installed. One all shiny and new, and not leaking, was one of the highlights of my week. I ooohed and ahhed every time I turned on the water and it did not go running out on my feet. It felt like a miracle. The things we take for granted quickly come home when you get a new one that works 100% right or an old one that works 100% wrong.
Do One Nice Thing......... On my journey this year to a more positive lifestyle, I have discovered a wonderful website. DoOneNiceThing.com was developed by a woman who decided she wanted to do more nice things for people. She along with her friends decided they would do one thing a week. She came up with some wonderful ideas and her friends suggested she put this on a blog or website. Do One Nice Thing was born. Here you will found easy ways to do good from simply clicking a free link to other ways to donate or do good. New ideas are posted every Monday. Check this site out and feel good about yourself because you did one nice thing.
Have a blessed week!

| New and Improved!!!! A tour of the laundry isle at the grocery store has convinced me that the people who are holding us hostage with gas prices are also controlling the laundry detergent now. All the bottles sport the new 2x Ultra Concentrated logo. The bottle is smaller... but! you will use less...so the bottle says. The price is 2x the usual. Since they all seem to have converted to this format, one brand can't be out done by another, I've been forced to try it. I am shopping for detergent just as often as I was before. Now, however, I must take out a small loan to get my clothes clean.
At least when I was growing up, if a box of detergent was going to rip you off with new and improved, it would have a prize in it. Huge boxes the size of suit cases that were only half full when you opened them and then after the mom let the child dig for the towel or glass, the bonus gift in every box, then you were probably left with less than a 1/3rd. But you were left with something that didn't wash down the drain. We had a whole set of Breeze detergent towels thanks to that racket.
As I tried to find the least expensive one, I was then forced to pick among the many fragrances. I like my clothes to smell good, like Mountain Fresh or April Rain. A fresh smell. The new choices were Apple Mango among several other fruit scents. I don't want my clothes to smell like a fruit cup. If that was not enough, then I had to decide between detergent with bleach, detergent with Oxy-Clean, stain lifters and fabric softeners. I think I spent a good 30 minutes just trying to pick a detergent.
As the detergent bottles are getting smaller, the toilet paper packs are getting larger. I do like to buy my toilet paper in quantity but sometimes I just want to grab a 4-pack and go. Those are becoming extinct. Now, you must choose the double 12 rolls or the 24 mega pack. Looks like Costco and Sam's Club are taking over the world.
Maybe it's not so much the need for these items in larger quantities but just another example of America's excess. It's always got to be bigger and better; new and improved.

| To Tell The Truth How do I look? 4 words I hate to have asked to me. Most of the time it puts me in a predicament. To tell the truth? or A white lie to save someone's feelings?
Someone asked that to me the other day and it got me to thinking. Is it wrong to tell a white lie to save someone's feelings? I think when someone asks a direct questions like that they honestly don't want to hear that they look bad. I always try to step around the question if I indeed don't think they look good by trying to find something positive about it that I can honestly reply too. Sometimes, I have to say "Sure! Looks good to me!" even when deep down I don't think they look good in the outfit at all. Is it wrong though to say that to save their feelings?
I try not to ask the question on How do I look? except to family. From their previous responses, I know 9 out of 10 times that are going to tell me the honest blatant truth. If they say it doesn't look good, my feelings are still hurt. I really wanted them to say it looked good.
To have our feelings hurt and maybe save us embarrassment from a terrible outfit or to have them tell us a little white lie and not hurt our feelings; it's a toss up. I personally try to wear things I feel comfortable in and are pleased with so I don't have to ask that question. If I am happy with it, I really don't care what anyone else thinks.
So what do you do? Do you tell the truth to the question: How do I look?
