1 Now the Philistines gathered their forces for
war and assembled at Socoh in Judah. They pitched camp at Ephes Dammim,
between Socoh and Azekah. 2 Saul and the Israelites assembled and camped in the Valley of Elah and drew up their battle line to meet the Philistines. 3 They were all very upset because tonight was a new episode of The Simpsons and yet they had to work.

4 A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. He was over nine feet tall. 5 He had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels; 6 on his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back. 7
His spear shaft was like a weaver's rod, and its iron point weighed six
hundred shekels. He had some issues with being the center of attention.

8 Goliath stood before a brick wall and
shouted to the ranks of Israel, "Do you not see that I am better than
your programming? Do you not prefer me to Deal Or No Deal? 9 What do you get when you cross an elephant and a rhino? 'Ell if I 'no! 10 Is that not funny? Are you not laughing? For you cannot leave until my act is over! 11 Did not you notice that Philistine people drive like this, while Israeli people drive like this? 12 What about those pretzels you get on airlines? 13 These are the jokes, people!" 14 On hearing the Philistine's words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed that they could not leave, especially because 15 it had been foretold that tonight's Seinfeld was the one about The Contest, and everyone wanted to see that.

16 Now David was the son of an Ephrathite
named Jesse, who was from Bethlehem in Judah. Jesse had eight sons, and
in Saul's time he was old and well advanced in years. 17
Jesse's three oldest sons had followed Saul to the war: The firstborn
was Composite Audio & Video RCA Input/Output; the second, S-Video
Input/Output; and the third, RF/Coaxial Input. 18 David was the youngest. The three oldest followed Saul, 19 but David went back and forth from Saul to tend his father's IR Emitter at Bethlehem.

20 For forty days the Philistine came
forward every morning and evening and took his stand. By now the
Israelites had missed like four episodes of The Office and so both
sides were getting mad. 21 Plus it was hockey season, which made it worse. And Saul wanted to watch One Life To Live.

22 David said to Saul, "Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant has a solution."

23 Saul replied, "You are not able to go
out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a boy, and he
has been a fighting man from his youth."

24 David said to Saul, "Fight him? What are
you, insane? He's nine feet tall and weighs like a million dollars, I'm
not going over there. 25 I came to tell you that I just figured out a way to watch tv again!" And saying that, David produced the Slingbox Classic.

26 Saul responded, "How does that work?"

27 David hooked the Slingbox Classic to the
back of the television of his father, Jesse. Then he walked to the
front line, where the high priests were keeping the laptop. 28
Using the SlingPlayer software, David established a direct connection
to his own tv, so that it was possible to watch shows in places where
no television could go. 28 The men gathered around to watch. Morale became higher than the stack of potatoes in the market.

29Soon no one was paying attention to Goliath. Goliath tried to do a little dance but no one cared. 30
After twenty eight days of trying impressions, juggling, and some crazy
thing with a puppet singing Madonna, Golliath was broken hearted, and
he just walked away. 31 There was polite applause, but that only made it worse.

32 Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. 33
David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around,
because he was not used to them. And lo, he tripped on the hem, and
everyone did laugh. 34 David tried to sit on the couch, but the sword got in the way, and the tunic made him slip. And lo, did everyone laugh.

35"I cannot wear these," he said to Saul,
"because I look like an idiot." So he took them off, and contented
himself before the computer that did accept the stream from the
Slingbox Classic. And it was good, because just then, Law and Order SVU
was starting. 36 And they were ordering manna and a two liter, and Saul was buying.

Training for my first not so quite sprint triathlon!

So I'm not the type to make New Year resolutions, but this year I'm very serious about it. There are 3 things I want to do: get spiritually in shape, decrease my fat percentages, appreciated people more by not taking them for granted!

I'm glad there's a class going to start up at church on interpretating the Bible, so that will satisfy my first resolution for now. However, the getting physically in shape part is hard for me. I'm rather lazy if I don't have any motivation or goal, so I've decided to finally go for it this year and get a taste of trying out Triathlons! I've been wanting to do one for a couple of years, so I'm super excited when the medical director of my agency is interested in doing one also. Neither of us are interested in the competitive aspect, but as long as we finish, we're in good shape! Since moving to California, I've bought a hybrid road bike and got a membership at 24 hour fitness and that's all the ingredients I need to do a Triathlon.

In sum, my goal (and this is scary but also exciting because I feel like I really have to do it now that I'm blogging about it) is to do a Tri for Fun around Lake Pleasanton in June. http://www.onyourmarkevents.com/TriForFunInfo.htm
I'll be doing 400 yard swim,
bike distance 11 miles, 3.1 mile run. I think it's doable! =)
It's great for newbies like me because it's non-competitive and the lake water is supposed to be warm at 72 degrees! In short, I'm going for my first mini triathlon! Keep me accountable! =) Also, anyone interested? Let's train together!

Skied and back again

Being the sporadic blogger that I am, I'll try to blog more when I'm on the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit). Vincent and I went skiing again this past weekend, and we won't be hitting the slopes again till after Valentine's day in Whistler!!

This time we went with some people at our church, and it was pretty fun! I'm still on the green runs, but I'm aiming for the blues in Whistler! I know a lot is a mental thing at this point, so hopefully I can beat it!

I got a chance to cook a lot during this trip, and that is so fun!! I think I want to start up the meals co-op again, so if there's any takers who are interested or curious let me know!

Ok, almost to Bart station! another time peeps!!

Home safe and sound!

SO what normally takes about 3 hours took 5 hours to return to the SF. Praise God for watching over us! It was a little frightening, but nothing God can't handle! =) We stopped by Oakland where I work to grab some Hong Kong style food, and it wasn't bad for 10pm at night! =) I'm sooo glad to be home and thankful that Vincent drove cuz I was going to drive bad and it was raining really hard and I was SUPER sleepy! =) Time to sleep soon and back for for more skiing on upcoming Saturday morning!
Going a lot faster now weee!

Hello world! Spent a great day by myself spending some time with God. Refreshing indeed! We're on the road now, and it's been snowing for most of yesterday and today. What does that mean? Slippery conditions! I have to say it's my first time being in conditions like this because ppl in Colorado can drive ppl good in snow and that's the only other places I've been skiing. Anywho! We've gone about 12 miles in the past 1 hour and 15 minutes! Pretty impressive any way you look at it! If you're reading, I'll try to update as often as I can. You can also pray or safe travels! Thank God for safe cars like Audi! =)

What to eat after a day of skiing??

I actually made this post last night walking away from the restaurant, but it didn't post. So we get an hour for all you can eat and it's $24 bucks per person. We definitely ate our money's worth!! It was cool seeing Carlos our chef making all the sushi cuz you at the sushi bar to eat! It was very very yummy! Here's a question: so lately there's a lot of cuisine fusion going on. Is it possible to mix Mexican with Japanese? =)

Getting better at skiing!

Hi hi! I'm updating as we speak in my friends' car! As some of you know, Vincent likes to ski, and one advantage to living out in the Bay Area is that we're close to nature aka SNOW in the winter!

Vincent and I will probably be going to four ski trips including this one! We skiied at Northstar in Tahoe and will go to Squaw Valley tomorrow! Next week we'll be going to Northstar with our church (and yes we found a church and we're beginning to build spiritual communities out here). In February, we're going to Whistler and March possibly back to Tahoe again. There's a big possibility that we might come back to Tahoe before March! Weee! To date I've been to ski three times, and I think I like to ski in Colorado more! At any ratr, I'm definitely beginning to enjoy skiing more!! I definitely hope to exercise more because one of my New Year resolutions is lowering the percentages of fat I have in my body! =)

I hope one of these days I'll get to ski well with Vincent, and thank God I'm getting plenty of practice of it! =)

What goes up must come down but will also go up again!

So work is great because I do like to help people especially with the skills I've learned from school. However, I absolutely detest the insurmountable paperwork I have.

I theroretically have to account for every minute of my day because my work bills the county for the work that we do. I didn't think I would have to do so much paperwork, but it's alarming to me. Since I take probably at least 3 times as long to write anything in my charts, I'm inevitably behind.

Theoretically it's great that I'm only supposed to work 7 hours a day, it's really bad news for someone that actually wants more time. I can't take my work home which is more good than bad, but I feel like I fall into a downward spiral. I got a chance to talk a seasoned staff in the agency today, and she reminded me to ask for help from my supervisor. It's not that I think she's mean (she's a really cute but blunt Japanese lady and I love it!!) but somehow I thought I'm expected to know everything even though I wasn't really train to do my job. I finally got some pointers from my supervisor, and I'm soo glad I did!! Even though I was the last person at work today (I left at 7:50 but most are gone promptly at 5), I felt better about my job now! If only I don't have to do all my paperwork I'll be so much happier. On the way home today from riding the BART (it's like subway), I sat one row in front of this homeless guy sleeping, and I'm reminded I'm really blessed to get to do what I like and I have a wonderful husband to go home to. =) Even though I'm sometimes home before him! Haha!! Alright, off to Houston to spend some quality time with the fam! Later Bay Area!
