La Vida Boca

This story, told me by some church staff members (I'll let the church remain nameless) rather nicely captures life where we live in SoFla:

This church tried to impress upon its members the importance of doing ministry.  The leaders stressed a simple message:  It's not about writing a check, it's about getting personally involved with people.

One Sunday, the children's pastor implored members to step up and serve with the children.  Don't just write a check -- after all, the church spent more than $50,000 last year on childcare alone for events.  Be personally involved in ministry!  The next day, a woman called to set up a meeting.

She said she'd heard the message, and been convicted.  She knew she had to do something.  She had to get involved, so she was now assigning her nanny to work with the children's ministry on Wednesday nights.
