    getting ready....

i am supposed to be readying myself to leave on tuesday morning.  i am excited for this trip with sam and emmah.  i know jed is safe at boot camp and our sarah is safe where she is at.  it is a gorgeous day here ~ sun, blue sky, breeze and practically perfect.  our maple tree got trimmed yesterday and the backyard has more light in it so we are hoping our old lilac will recover and begin to grow straight upward to the sky.  the garden is looking good and the bunny found a way to get to my lettuce through the fence.  she is so sneaky!!
the japanese beetles are going crazy here as are the squirrels.  i am hopeful for rain while we are gone to keep the tomatoes growing as well as the peppers and everything else.  more later....

  • the mother

as i finished the boy's room today (washed the woodwork as well) and stood smelling his clean clothes in the closet and the clean walls.....i wondered.....there had to be a mom of the prodigal boys wouldn't you think??  i know there is only the guys in the story BUT there had to be a mom.  so i thought about her and what she must have had to deal with.  did she clean the younger son's room after he left?  did she know all the trouble he could get into with his inheritance in his hand? did she look through old photos (HA!) and remember all the good times of his growing up and wonder what had she done wrong? or did the father protect his wife and not tell her what sin the city held for her little boy?  did she try to redirect the older son's thoughts to an understanding of what he had at home and with the family business? i wonder now about the mum........
sarah called last night and she got a letter from jed!!  she was so excited.  of course, he doesn't say much because it is a small piece of paper and he doesn't have too much time.  it is great just to see his handwriting in the mailbox now.  i don't know if i anticipate mail as much as he does....probably not.
it is warm here today and i have the oven on to bake a blackberry pie to take to some friends tonight. and i need to work on stuff for school....and some other things.
so blessings on the weekend to all....later.

    murphy's soap

ahhhhhh....the smell of murphy's soap.....trying to get the recruit's room clean.  i will probably have to repaint the walls.  and....i am thinking of laminating some of the newspaper sports pages from football and basketball of his senior year for on the walls.  we have to get a new bed, move the dressers back in, shampoo the carpet.  i would like to get this done before my school year begins which is officially on august 13th....ugh.  what are you up to???

and in even bigger news is we are coming to california next week.   we leave tuesday morning and arrive in the afternoon.  there is a conference at Saddleback BUT i am totally completely excited about getting to go see......rejoicing always !!!! i know she hasn't posted in a very very long time only because she is a very busy gal.  i will be with her from wednesday to friday. i can hardly wait.  my next xanga sister visit will be to see lonestarmom in texas !!! and i don't know where this sister lives but maybe i will be close to her next week too!!

  • morning time

the sun has been up for a while and it is a gorgeous day here.  we had a very hard rain yesterday morning so i won't have to water until tomorrow.  i am so thankful to be a follower of Christ ~ that He opened my eyes and heart to Him and has given me choices and freedoms i never knew.  and i am coming to terms with so much and it is because i know He was there with me through it all.  I have been reading Beth Moore's book Praying God's Word.....what a treasure to me.
John 16: 31   Lord in Heaven, in every faith walk I encounter, keep working with me until You can victoriously boast, "You believe at last!"

keep working with me.....i am so glad He keeps working with me despite my stubbornness and my disbelief.  we received a 2nd letter from jed at boot camp.  i have mailed him at least three times a week....bought more cards yesterday.  it has been a journey with him we never thought we would have to travel ~ but i have learned much about the goodness of Christ and God the Father....i just pray that jed will too.
