| Dang...it's been quite a while. I thought I'd make a brief entry to signal that this place/myself is still alive.
I don't know how many people out there are Astros fans, or sports fans
in general. I myself am I diehard Astros fan...always have been
and always will be. I (unfortunately to some) have not quite
given up hope for this season. It's still doable. I liked
the Aubrey Huff trade, but we need one or two more.
Needs:
- Relief pitching
- One more middle-of-the-order bat
All I'm going to say about this, first of all, make a nice small deal
for a bullpen pitcher. Along the way, consider grooming SOMEONE
ELSE to be a new closer. My faith in Brad Lidge has waned
significantly.
Second, I refer you to this Richard Justice article from the Houston
Chronicle. He's one of my favorite sports writers (has been a
guest on PTI...so he's known nationally).

I say, part with some people (Taveras, Everett, Nieve) and make the
trade for Tejada. A-Rod and Soriano won't happen, but we need to
do something.
So that's about it. I'm alive and well.
LATER!

| Alright...time to come through on my promise...
I introduce to you...
CHRIS' COLOSSAL CONUNDRUMS!!!
So...for this first entry...I we will take on the age-old debate...
Paper...or Plastic???
Now, perhaps some of you out there have seen that beer
commercial. The guys are at the grocery store needing to buy two
things, no more and no less. They're standing in line with
their beer and their toilet paper...only to realize that...OH CRAP...only
enough money for one! Naturally, they HAVE to buy the beer.
So when asked this simple question, these two gentlemen answered
quickly, and of one both loud and assertive accord, "PAPER!"
(Pause for a second to let that soak in...)
Now let's think about this...paper bags for that purpose?!? NO WAY!! I mean, yeah they're guys but...
I digress...let's stick to the first issue at hand...
Ok...so let's take the side of paper first of all. Yeah, these
sacks can get heavy and cumbersome and make for multiple loads once you
return home with a week or two's worth of groceries, I will agree with
that. Let's think about this though, lots of the time, these bags
are made from recycled paper. Darn near 100% of the time
probably. This is a wonderful thing. Recycling helps keep
the environment cleaner. At my house in Houston, we then re-use
these bags to place newspapers in that must be taken to the recycle
bin. This KEEPS the recycling cycle going (wow that sounds
amazingly redundant)!
Plastic now. Ok, us college kids, this sure makes it easy.
Put your groceries in plastic bags, return to your apartment or dorm
loaded down to where your fingers have entirely lost feeling, and then
grimace after you set them down and exhale. Painful, heck
yeahh!! Worth it, HELL YEAH!!! We take the
convenience of one trip over the alternative any day. I admit
it...I too am guilty of it. But then let's think about
this...what happens to these bags when we're done??? Do they get
shoved in a drawer to be used perhaps at a later time for some random
thing that needs to be carried, like they do at my apartment? Do
they go directly into the trash when their purpose has been
served? If so, isn't this detrimental to the
environment? Probably. Do most college kids
care? I dunno. Is this gonna make them change their
minds? Probably not. What about mine? I dunno.
I think ultimately we humans tend to go for convenience and what's
easiest at the time.
So...that was my random rant. I'm not gonna take a side for the
sake of argument. I merely presented the sides. Feel
free to comment if you too have something to add...or if you think this
wasn't random enough for you. If not...trust me...I will be
random! If you don't believe me...go back into my posts from a
while ago and look up the one on Jorts. THAT was random.
I will go there...
